    I have had the pleasure of owning two of these Masterpieces. A 2001 and a 2003. Incredible machine!

    I worked in the body shop of a BMW, VW, Honda dealership back in 2005-07. Had the privilege of working on a few of these and got to drive them a dab. Definitely didn't get to use them the way Honda intended, but man I look back and think of how cool these cars are. My favorite was one in black, man it was gorgeous!

    Owned an '06 New Formula Red just like this one from 2015 to 2021. Everything Greg says about it is correct; Greg does his homework and doesn't state inaccuracies, which cannot be said for everyone posting car videos on TH-cam. Important: the drive-by-wire models ('06--'-09) have proven to have a high incidence of tight exhaust valve clearances leading to burnt exhaust valves, valve seats, or even bent valves. This requires removing the head and re-doing the valves, which cost us $2,500. So, I would consider a compression test and valve clearance check mandatory items on a pre-purchase inspection checklist. When testing one, also make sure that the transmission holds all gears under load; some would not reliably hold 2nd gear and were recalled for it (this was '02-'03 as I recall); ours would randomly slip out of 2nd gear under load unless we used Amsoil MTF and had it changed about every 3K miles.

    I never had the S2000, but I drove a Honda Accord that never let me down or left me stranded. Honda make extremely reliable and durable vehicles, or at least they used to. Love the body styles of 90’s sports cars, they were sleek and sexy, but not over the top. Greg, love your work and wish you were able to release more videos. Nonetheless thanks so much for all you do for the car community. Always a pleasure, Sir.

    can confirm, coming from a track prepped MX-5 NA and having had an RX7 FD and owning a 2.4L stroked AP1 i gotta say: its toys vs a tool. There is just no way to compare the S2000 to anything like that.

    Wonder how the Toyota Spyder would compare? The 2000 seems Great

    • @cornercarver636
      @cornercarver636 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Having driven both I prefer the Spyder. The S2000’s engine is unmatched but handling on the Spyder is better. Spyder feels much more agile (MR) and stable at high speeds (longer wheelbase). They feel similar driving around town in terms of torque, MR2 actually feels a bit better until the S2000 hits 6k rpm. S2000 shifter is more tactile and precise. MR2 offers an experience of cars usually 3x the price. Speaking of, a 986/987 Boxster is probably the best of the “affordable” roadster options. Parts will be a bit more expensive.

      @@cornercarver636 I'm in Canada and not know about series models. I put the stickiest Bridgestone Potenzas on and noticed a bit of light steering so I used a method of correction I knew for years - inflate the front tires up to 2 psi lower than the rear, typically 1psi lower that specs and 1 psi higher in the rears. In Canada all if them were sent down to Oregon to have a sun roof installed and a lockable space for it in the rear trunk. Something special I found was that there was a sub woofer under the driver's seat - not wired. 👍 - 👍

    Own a '06 Civic Si FG2 Coupe.
    Couldn't afford a S2000 as prices have gone up...
    My Civic is a FWD S2000, factory LSD
    V-tech at 6-8000 rpm hits harder also compared to the S2000.
    K20z3 was based on this S2000 engine..

      S2000 is dr jekyll and mr Hyde motor (excellent above 6100rpm when VTEC kicked in yo !) Miata is full dr Jekyll, unlike the S2000, motor temper is boring, perfectly linear from 0 to the red line ( I drove the S2000 and also all the ND miatas versions)
