1989, the summer we moved from Massachusetts to California, drove from Boston up through Vermont and Montreal and hit the national parks along the way....Letter From Home was our soundtrack en route to Palo Alto....
It is truly amazing to hear and see this live--recorded. The gifts each of these individuals have are unique and they share them with us--gladly. Their abilities are at a such a different level in music, I am humbled and yet very sad that I never saw them in person. They are magnificent!!!
GRACIAS, SYNC!
IM NOT FROM ARGENTINA , BUT PAT METHENY REACHED HIS HIGHEST CREATIVE MUSICAL RECORDING WITH THIS KID PEDRO AZNAR SINCE "MINUANO" AND THEN I DIDNT SOUND THE SAME AFTER PEDRO LEFT.
PMG continually evolves, and I guess I don't blame him. If I had to play Phase Dance every night for the rest of my life, even though it is a great song, it would get awful repetitious and boring. Same is true for the Azner sessions; Letter From Home and Still Life Talking, with their Brazilian themes, were great, heck they're two of my favorite PM records, but I can't listen to them every day. I like the self titled "Pat Metheny Group" record as well, and it has a much more traditional jazz vibe.
@@rushspotting I am not from Argentina and I went to listen to Seru Giran and was baffled by the fact someone else was singing when Pedro has this amazing singing talent. I believe it is a talent lost from vocals point of view. He hits the notes perfectly and has a distinctive style. When he went back to So. America the catch must have been "you gotta be a rock singer and bass player" and we lost o a precious singer.
This was the era when a Jazz concert was massive, when people still had good taste in music.
In 1995 I saw PMG in Naples, it was incredible, people were singing the themes of the songs
Some of the happiest music ever made, is Pat Methany Group.
1st time I heard Pat I was 18 yrs old. I'll be 58 yrs old soon, and I still get goose bumps and tears!!
I was at this show. What a night!!!
I was too! It was trippy, that's the only way I can describe it. FIJM was great in those days.
So was I. Great night 🌙

that's exactly what someone from Argentina would say......

Oh my!!
Bien boogie blusero!
What a terrific solo. I miss Pedro Aznar. I wish I could play drums like Paul Wertico.
Respect!! but haha, those pants :P!
When the music mattered, and the fashion choices didn't :)
Living legend.
Pat must be too hot with burning enthusiasm in his heart, especially on his legs.
I was there. His legs were giving off a lot of heat 🥵
Wow.
God Is Pat Metheny
George Lucas in the Bass :D
God SENT Pat Metheny
Because its the 80s! :-)

@1:25. Pat jumps the gun a bit. :)
might want check your counting again, seems right to me, different from the recording, but spot on
Not talking about time, but that little melodic statement is usually played in the following phrase. Sounds like it even trips up Pedro a bit.
@@eysikal
I blame it on the short shorts
pedro aznar the best!
pedrooooo
Por qué está en shorts!?!?
