- Sometimes you have to gamble a bit to reap the rewards. I finally found a second bike for the Moto Flip Project, but I had to break my number one rule: never buy a motorcycle at night. Let's see if this gamble paid off on a 2013 Yamaha Stryker.

Have you ever purchased a motorcycle at night? How did it turn out?
Bought my ZX10R at night, drove 4 hours after work. Listened to it run while it was sitting there in the dark, threw it on the trailer, drove home and looked it over the next day...not wise, ended well though.
Even worse ,, buying one in the rain . Everything looks good when wet .
I bought a Stryker in July and it’s an AMAZING platform to work on and it’s bullet proof. If you throw an exhaust on it you will fall in love with it. It’s the only motorcycle that I’ve had that sounds good reving up but straight up demonic revving down lmao

I just pickup a 2011 Stryker.. in very very good shape. A few miles on her as the person Toured with it (27,500 Miles ...44,000 KMS) But included was 2 Yamaha quick release windshields (Tall /Short).. Yamaha Star Bags...Fork Seals replaced....Valve adjustment done..for $5000 CDN. The bike looks brand new.

The Stryker is a Beast. I've had mine since 2013, answers the call when I wanna Roll hard. Never misses a beat, self adjusting-everything. Cobra Pipe sounds like a 350 V8. Love this Bike.

I hope it goes well. This series makes me want to do this. Not really to make money for a dream bike, but because I can ride incredible motorcycles. I have my dream bikes, but it would be cool to just ride other ones around.

Not sure what the market is on those bikes. Can’t see you getting back more than 4K for it, but then again I thought you would take a loss on the Triumph so I obviously suck at predicting these things. Good luck, I love the premise of this series and hope you reach your goal faster than you expect!
I sat on a Yamaha Stryker two days ago and was so darn comfy. I'm 6' tall and haven't ridden bikes in 20 years. I just bought a Honda Shadow 750 Spirit in MINT condition yesterday, and after I build up my confidence again this will be the next bike. The ONLY reason I didn't buy it is I am 53 and have knee problems, so the dreaded red light is my nemesis. If I can hold it up safely at a red light then I'm getting one 100% because it checks all the boxes in my book and it's a YAMAHA - They set a high bar on every product they make. I'm a bass player and use all YAMAHA gear (and the Peavey Cirrus, Alembic !) because it's the best.
I wish I could find a really low price like that. It always seems I'm doing good to get a bike for just a few hundred below retail. How is that rear fender supported? The supports are not showing in the vid.
Do Strikers and Raiders are amazing the specs sheet the looks and the performance of them are great Denny's Harley enthusiasts if the badging was off of these would love one of these bites and you get the benefit of metric reliability I think they look rather unique to kind of close to the Harley Breakout you can't lose with one of those
Continues to amaze me how cheap you get bikes out your way. Out here in the Land of Lincoln bike prices are insane.
Yamaha Stryker or Vstar 1300 are great bikes that a lot of people sleep on. My 2007 Vstar 1300 was a wonderfully reliable bike. I still got 4k towards trading for my new Indian springfield this year.

My issue is that many bones of that bike are pretty good, the effort for a "style" makes it a bike I would hate to ride. Funky size tires make it expensive to ride much. If I bought that one at night I had WAAAY too many Budweisers, I don't drink the Light version! Edit: there may be a lot of the cruiser type bikes for sale cheap now, even HDs. A rare sportbike not thrashed may be a better investment. If you ride it, remember "just bacause you can doesn't mean you should".

I absolutely LOVE those Strykers (and Raiders in particular) We got almost none of them here in The Netherlands. They are almost entirely ment for the American market. :'(
I bought my 2012 stryker Last year . It's not only fast but came fully decked out with 5 grand in extra upgrades. We're talking Vance and Hines full exhaust, cobra power flow intake, power commander V, and whoever mapped it , wow ! . It's also got a license plate relocation kit and rear taillights within the rear brake panel. Oh , and did I mention- a custom corbin touring seat that is heated ?? .. LED headlight mod , custom mirrors and handgrips , even a light kit .. man did I get a deal . Paid less than 5 grand. Bike had only 17 k on it .. 😎

I've been meaning to ask you : have you ever did a flip, and since your reposting a bike that was just for sale recently, had someone ask you (kinda calling it) something like, "hey I just saw this bike for sale a week ago for $2000 less, what gives" ? If so what did you tell them.
And I've never bought a bike at night but I did buy a bike during a blizzard haha. Drove 8 hrs up state for an insane deal and to possibly save 10 grand. Weather said chance of snow, but when I was about a hr from the guys how it started to straight up blizzard out. By the time I got there , there was a foot of snow on the ground. Obviously a test ride was out. The bike was MINT though. Did my walk around and tested everything I could. The guy was a super meticulous. You could eat off the garage floor. He had 2 show corvettes in there with it, which let me know he takes care of his vehicles. He had the bike on a jack to take pressure off the seals and every maintenance record the bikes ever had. Everything lined up. I trusted my gut and made the deal. The bike has been great. The 20 hr drive was 100% worth it. When I tell people what I paid for it , they always flip out.

It's crazy that the Triumph Thunderbird was cheeper than this Yam when it is much better motorcycle in any way!! It just shows you how much of a underrated bike the T-Bird is!! Well I hope Yam sell will go easily and you can move on the the next one!

Depending on miles and tire condition it’s worth $4500-$5200.
you also could have just ask to come back the next day to see it in the light after the test ride because you live down the street.

Not sure if you have mentioned what your dream bike is, or if like most of us there are more than one, and it's a moving target. I would have to guess a rare Bimota, or some crazy oval piston Honda

One thing you can do to alleviate some risk is just ask them if they’re willing to meet the next day just to make sure that they aren’t deliberately trying to meet up at night I was are you still taking a risk obviously

From my experience knowing the 2013 Yamaha Stryker , $3,100 is pretty cheap. At a motorcycle dealer it cost around $7,000.
