Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This TH-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.
We need a break 75 with this full set. You and Guy both playing them.
That would be fun to watch!
Great idea!
More nailbiting if it is break 80. Break 75 on a municipal course maybe.
Amazing idea
Agreed
I had a load of mismatched clubs in my bag when I started playing golf a few years ago, and for a long time I thought "nah, golf isn't for me" and came close to giving up.
It was a cheap 2nd hand Adams 3hybrid (A12 model I think?) that made me persevere in the end. That was the club that gave me those first "wtf?" moments, when a ball would come off the face and just sail away into the distance, giving that addictive feeling that snares all regular golfers at some point early in their personal journey.
So yeah, Adams will always have a very special place in my heart.
Adams was my first real set. Adams A7 purchased back in 2011, PW-5I, 4H, 3H (2 hybrids!) for 700 dollars! I loved the set so much. My second iron set i bought was the A4, which was basically the same set but in a more players/ forged build. Got it used and played it for a decade.
My first "real" set was some Adams V3 Hybrid irons, and they made me a lifelong Adams fan. Now I have a set of CB1 Idea Black irons that I play currently, CB2's, XtD Tour Pro's, and the best looking irons they ever made CMB's. Plus a handful of driving irons, hybrids and woods. I'm always on the hunt for more too.. yes I have a problem 😂
My first real iron set were the Adams tight lies, and after that went with the XTD irons in black. The XTDs were incredible. Haven't hit clubs like that I'm thinking of rebuying a set of those lol. I've had TM RBZ and Speedblade irons after my Adams and they're just meh. The XTDs were very long and forgiving and felt so nice to hit.
Love the club reviews, Rick. One thing I would love to see is some sort of summary stats at the end of the videos that compares the clubs apples-to-apples against previously reviewed clubs and either self rank your favorite to the list as time goes on or use some weighted average metric to determine the best. Top Gear circuit style
I hit the same Adams GT Tight Lies fairway woods from 2003 until this year and they were great for the entire 20 year span.
I play 3, 4, and 5 Adams hybrids from the early 2000s, and they are easily my favorite clubs. They are so easy to hit, and I get a great ball flight from them. My 3 carries about 200 yards, and accurate! I rarely hit a bad shot with them. I'm so glad that Adams golf clubs are back, I will consider them for a new 5 and 7 wood next season.
I love seeing these reviews on clubs us lowly hackers could actually afford to buy! It's all well and good to know that Titleist makes amazing clubs. But I don't have $1,200 to spend on a set of irons. So knowing there are GOOD clubs out there for folks like me is awesome. Keep up the great work!
Ive had my same Adams iron set for nearly 20 years. They're absolutely fantastic.
It's so great to see adams back! I'm very happy that they've come out with these clubs with such high performance. See you out there!
I bought the Adams 5,7 fairway woods and the 5 hybrid about a month ago. These are fantastic. I have people in our group buying them as well. They are really good, regardless of the price. I've tried quite a few different fairway woods but none compare. I can't understand why more people don't use these.
Would you mind letting me know where you can buy these from please? Struggling to see where you can get them in the UK? Or I’m just not got good at searching on the internet! 😂 thanks!
I bought the 2022 versions of the 3w and 5w. They are very easy to hit and launch high, penetrating shots. Paired with my 2010 model Adams 4h, I just love Adams products, old and new. 😊
My 5 wood is still an Adams Speedline LS. GREAT clubs back then. Nice to see they continue to be good.
I’m loving all these reviews Rick! Something I would love to see is potentially testing out beginner clubs (ex: Top flite). That way newer golfers know what they can expect and good brands. But anyway awesome review on the Adam’s clubs. Looking forward for more!!!
I started with Top Flite back in April. Pretty nice box set for under $300. It did its job with getting me into golf and practicing on the range. I have made a change to Tour Edge clubs and have seen major improvements. I still believe Top Flite is a capable starter set
I’m pretty depressed this content doesn’t get more views these are the best videos out there imo. I thought this channel would explode. Rick maybe blow up the channel reviewing some super hot items similar to t200 vs p790s. If you do a bunch for a few months it’ll be bound to take off
I just got my 7 wood yesterday and took it to the course. Loved it. My set of clubs are the old Adams ideas. Love them. As a senior golfer and a 19 handicaper they are great. Will probably buy the newer stuff in the next year or so. Great review Rick. Thanks
If possible can you tell me where you ordered from I've tried adams golf uk but always get sent to American website for some reason an no option to deliver to uk
I have used an older Adams 5 wood for forever and it is SUPER easy to hit. I will definitely have to look into their newer stuff. Thank you for the review!
I had one of the original three woods back in the day. I wish I still had it the EASIEST fairway wood to hit I’ve ever owned!
I literally just got one from a friend and I'm excited to have it.
I have an old Adams hybrid in my bag. I call it my magic wand as it always delivers when need be. Wish I could afford this new set, but so be it. Thank you Rick, I really enjoy your reviews and shows. God bless you.
I owned a complete set of adams, clubs, hybrids, and irons. This must’ve been about 20 years ago or so. I loved them, probably one of my most favorite clubs. Great quality and they played well.
GT500s! Great set. These new ones have some old design elements with the wide bottoms.
What a great review as always.
I myself am excited about Adams being back in the market, however I do hope they come out with a better players iron in the future.
Were Adams ever known for the their players irons? I always knew them as one of the best for mid-higher handicap. Not knocking just curious.
First club I had or even saw from them ( early 2000's) was the thin body/long narrow faced fairway woods like the 4 woods he uses in this video. Kinda like the first kind of hybrids. Still have it. Adam's Tight lies 3 strong 13* is the info from the club. I had no idea they made irons till now i only saw fairway woods. I loved that club, never let me down as a 18hc. They were kinda known or I assumed anyway they😮 were for higher hc'ers
@@AKrider29 Honestly they were not the best known player iron brand, however the XTD Forged and CB forged lines were phenomenal in my experience. They provided superb forgiveness for what they were and the control and feel was also very solid.
If you can find the XTD forged or XTD tours i do suggest you give them a try. I swapped out a set of Mizuno's back in the day to game them. Paired with the Pro Hybrid for 3 they are a set to be reckoned with.
@@jsee2385 this too was a great wood. If not mistaken they had a titanium version as well that was in the bag of many pro players.
@@1nZa1n3_Gaming I didn't know that. Interesting none the less
Rick I want to thank you for the review of the Adams driver. I am a 6 handicapper and was using a Mizuno and I rolled the dice on the Adams. It's been working and for 260 US dollars, better than the 4-600 dollar drivers, who knew?? Apparently you knew!!!! Love the vids and the new studio.
The old Adams XTD Tungsten irons were some of the best I've ever played with, and I still have a Speedline F11+ 3 Wood in the bag. So glad Adams is reclaiming their prominence
Adam's XTD cavity back were like bazookas. I loved those clubs!
My first set of clubs were Adams Golf. 4-P hybrid/cavity back style. And an Adams Speedline Driver. Absolutely loved them and absolutely bombed the driver.
Adams, the brand that got me to learn how to hit a fairway wood. The 2013 tightlies was the first brand new fairway wood I ever bought. Kept me from making the mistake of getting a top flight.😁
It's so good to see very good irons in this price point. For the average golfer these are more than good enough and for the price of a second hand Titleist/Callway/... you can get some brand news good looking irons
I still have an Adams Tight lies 5 wood in my bag, bought in 2002. Great club. Had the 3 wood as well but the head and shaft parted company.
As a new golfer getting into the sport I currently have a set of Adams Idea 2014 Hybrid irons in the bag and couldn't be happier. Great set of Hybrid Irons that have really helped improve my game being so forgiving. In the 3 wood in the category I use an Adams Fast 12 3 wood. Lovely club again. I'm a big fan of Adams so looking forward to see what come next. As always, class video Rick, keep them coming.
I would love to see a "test drive" with these clubs on the course. Would be a great Break 75 series even - use clubs you've reviewed on the actual course.
Thank you for all of the honest reviews. It means a lot to those of us that can't spend a ton of money on clubs. Cheers!
Bogie-Dbl Bogey hacker here. Have a set of 2016 Adams Idea irons. Always been very sound, reliable sticks. Probably looking to replace them in the off-season. i think Adams still fits the quality and price point for someone of my level, with maybe PXG right behind them. Thanks Rick for the review.
Last Thursday when the video came out, we were at a birthday dinner at restaurant. I couldn't resist, went to bathroom (everyone think i took a dump) just to watch this review on Adams. I love Adams, still using my XTD's but getting old and torn now. Rick, i would gladly put these club to use! Send these over North sea to Europe!!
I've got 2 Adams Tight Lies fairway woods, 16* and 19*. Brilliant clubs. Got them 2nd hand from Golf Factory in North Tyneside. £40 each. Absolute bargain.
Really wish Adams would bring back their forged irons of old. Super underrated
I still to this day game an Adams Tight Lie TI 3 wood, which I guess is going on 8-9 years old tech now. It's a great, lively, shallow face compact head club. I can confidentiality hit it off the tee (and frequently do), off the fairway or even out of light to medium rough. My only complaint, and it's not really a complaint, is that I mistakenly got it with a stiff shaft. I don't swing stiff shafts, and I sometimes wonder if I'm leaving a little distance behind because if it. But then I blast a shot off the tee that threatens the distance I get with even a good drive with driver (though admittedly I don't swing driver the greatest), and I think I probably couldn't do much better, so maybe I'm not losing any distance with the stiff shaft.
Great to see Adams back! My fairway woods have never left the bag
Love Adams. I have a Red hybrid 2 of 18 degr loft. Absolutely insane club to use. So many people I've played with have wondered what club it is and are amazed at the performance. Glad to see them back in the game! And great review as always.
I love Adams clubs ! I still play with my vintage Adams TightLies irons once every so often & enjoy these no end ! Extremely happy that Adams is back again ! Bravo 👏
My Adams Idea Black Super 1 Hybrid is still what I use in place of a 3 wood. Great off the tee or fairway.
Adams have always been great. The original tight lies fairway woods were really good back in the day.
Huge fan of Adams back in the day! Glad they are making a come back 🙌
What about a series where you n guy have a set of these lower priced, game improvement, irons and see which comes out on top! Great review as always Mr S! 🤙🏻
I just started using my Adams new LW and so far it's been great. I'm planning to pick up the SW next. It's very easy to hit and has lots of bounce. I'm replacing my old Ping Glides. These irons look great, I'll have to try them out on the Trackman.
Love Adams, still use an entire bag full (minus putter). So good to see them back!!
I would actually look into these. Very reasonable price for all the clubs. Definitely need to see you take these out for a break 75 or something
keep coming back to my 10 year old Adams Super S irons and A12 Hybrids,,Upgraded them twice and sold the upgrades and went back to Adams,,,,They make life easy.
I'm glad Adam's is back in force. I'm in dire need of a 19⁰ or 21⁰ fairway wood. Thanks, Rick. ❤ 💯 👍
I really love the Adams golfclubs, glad they are back for sure. I still use a 4 and 5 hybrid that are terrific!
When I was growing up in golf, in the mid-late 2000s, Adams didn't seem quite as exciting to me. Seemed more like an "old person" club, whereas I was super interested in all of the things Nike and Callaway were doing at the time. I love seeing them in a new light with a really cool modernized look. I wish Bob Burns clubs adapted something new
I’m so glad Adams is making clubs again. I have a set and love them.
Was going to say as well please review the new Kirkland irons they look awesome 😂
My old Adams Pro 4 Hybrid is still with me after many years - it's still performing very well - great to see them back !
Curious as to what is happening with this channel? No videos in over 2 months :/
Belly up
Make that 5 months now 💀
Hi Rick, please do a break 75 with the Adam's set. The millenials will only play Stealth, but we need a proper course review of this set. Glad to see Adam's coming back.
Forgot to add, but another sausage roll review wouldn't hurt.
This might be the MOST northern I've heard Rick sound in ages! Keep it up lad!
Who’d have thought old blueys biggest competition would be from Adams?! What a great launch from them! Hope it gets the use it deserves and is not shied away from due to brand snobery
Soooooooooo.......... has H.I.T Golf ended its content creation run??
Delighted to see Adams back and the price point
I’ve missed ‘em too. My nephew started golfing last year and I hunted down an old set of adams clubs for him, now he can upgrade to a new set.
Hi Rick. I love your new channel and I have a wish for a video I would like you to make. I am a semi-old man of 55 years. I started playing golf when I was about 30 years old and played for about 18 years at the same time as I also had children. I never got really good, but I still reached handicap 18. I actually hit fairly hard with my irons without needing stiff shafts in addition to the shaft of my driver, which is stiff. I stopped playing about 7-8 years ago due to a shoulder operation and was afraid I would never play again. When the shoulder was fine again, I did not return to golf as I am also a football coach and there was no time for it. 2 years ago I had my other shoulder destroyed with several muscles torn. At that time I was sure I would never play again. However, my son has started playing golf and he has persuaded me to come along. Mostly because he doesn't have a driver's license and as you know it's not easy to get to the golf course without a car. After all, he must have someone to drive him :-). I try my best and I just love to play golf. I actually still have a reasonable short game and can still figure out putting as well. My golf set hasn't gotten any younger and now I'm thinking about what I should look for to get the best help with my old shoulders. I can't swing that hard anymore and I'm wondering if I should look for graphite shafts. I wish you would make a video about when to start playing with graphite instead of steel. What is the difference and does it matter to your game if you choose one or the other. Today I play with an old Wilson DI7 iron set with reg steel shafts. Please HELP.
Loved my Adams GT Tightlies 5 wood. Fantastic club. So reliable.....
Still have a tight lies 5 wood in the bag, one of my favourite clubs i've hit
For a game improving iron set, a pitching wedge of 44 degrees still isn't terribly strong, which I'm a fan of
Put those woods and hybrid in your bag Rick!
There is definitely a slot for new golfers like me between 30 and 40 years old. These feel right just by watching you
I love you honestly with reviews!! I also must say you have super smooth tempo on all golf clubs!! Keep up the reviews
I bought one of the putters and it feels really good off the face, love the comparison to cobra from a few years ago gives a great picture to what this brand could do for people who want quality equipment without the massive price tag
Wish we had easy access to Adam’s clubs here in Australia. Great review
Need to see these on the course
Rick, can you take these out on the course for a playing review? Would love to see these in action!
Thanks for the great review Rick! Now the need to come out with a ladies set called the "EVE" !
Ive been playing with a 20 year old set of Taylor made blades , really getting fed uo with not improving so im saving for my first ever brand new set and i think these are the ones for me , ive not bought myself new clubs in 20 years because ive always concentrated on my sons golf equipment, however he's getting to big for his size 13s now so im gonna bring him down a peg or two😊
If I keep golfing I will definitely have these in the running for a really nice set to buy myself one day
Been looking at new clubs I'm glad you reviewed the Adams irons, hybrids and fairway metals, and driver. Thanks great job
I have an Adams 4h which must be over 10 years old and it's by far the most consistent club in my bag, no other hybrid comes close and I've tried a few. I love it although it's battered and bruised now.
Great and honest review. Very tempting
Best I think I’ve ever seen you hit a fairway wood. Definitely needs to go in the bag
I would agree with your take on the hybrid - i'm looking to add a 19' hybrid, but they only make the unadjustable 18'. Adding the adjustable hosel would be fantastic.
I have been really excited to see reviews of the woods. I feel the same about the design. I love the old Adams triangular sole and low face height. If it had an adjustable loft sleeve I would be looking to game these. I just usually play a 4-wood and 6-ish wood by loft, and their stock lofts and shafts probably wouldn't quite work for me.
It looks like Adams have nailed it with all their new clubs. Pricing is amazing value. I could see these clubs helping so many players. Well done Adams.
The Wilson Dynapower also sits right there and alot of positive was said about them (including you). Maybe compare the two? Nice to see that good clubs don't need to cost that much......
You may have sold me on the Adams fairway woods. I've been looking for a Ping G410 or 425 three wood, but the pricing is ridiculous for them still. I have a G410 5 wood and I love it, especially for the same reason you like the Adams, the flat sole and shallow face. That geometry makes them very easy to strike well and get them airborne with control. For the price of a used G425, I can have brand spanky new Adams fairway wood that is at least as good.
Great review! The 3 wood reminds me of the PXG 0211 from a price/performance standpoint. I definitely would try out both the irons and the hybrid/woods!
that is the best and most consistant ive seen from rick in awhile as far as ball striking goes. put them in the bag and play a round
Where have all the reviews gone, it's been 3 weeks , come on Rick!!
Possible competition over bluey. Can't wait to see that one!
I love the Adams clubs I’m using now. It’s the speedline S series 3 & 5 wood and 5 hybrid with the Launch lab driver! I would definitely invest in them again. But I need to invest in my swing before I get clubs.
I salute you and your commitment to the golfing world. Love your reviews, been watching for quite a few years now.
Really happy that you got your hands on them Rick. There was absolutely no fanfare when TM brought Adams back which seems crazy to me.
I love the reviews of clubs. For golfers at any level, your reviews have been impartial and we love it. A couple of years ago, you reviewed a launch monitor app. I would love to see a review of some of the apps now available. Not everyone can have a HIT studio or afford a $3500 launch monitor. So...
Is it likely?
I love this channel and all the reviews, i would love to see a video on all the technology and systems you use and how big your space is and how much it cost to build and design your area
Good video as always and love the studio. But being the club nerd that I am, it would be nice to see the stats of the clubs tested somewhere in the video. Mostly interested in the ball speed, launch angle, spin, descend angle , peak height and clubhead speed. Maybe you can put them at the end of the video so people who are not interested can easily skip it.
Would love to see a review of the Vessel x Cobra Golfbags. Seems like its alwayxs the same model with different designs and Since there aren't any bag reviews out there it would be really cool to see one from you. Maybe also in comparisson to your linkmaster augusta edition :)
Love your content Rick! You're such a good natured lad, always bringing the positivity and big smiles
Still have my old adams three wood and 4 hybrid. Soooo glad they are back! I cant find anything as good.
Still carrying an Adams Pro Hybrid 20 degrees. Such a lovely club and easy to hit. Great to see them back. Hopefully we will see an EU supplier of Adams in the future
Great looking clubs! Impressive results. Thanks Rick!
Really good seeing them back. I had some RPM irons way back and loved them.
Bought the mallet putter a few months ago when they launched and I’ve been loving it highly recommend the Adams rebrand
I've been waiting for this video since I spied the Adams set in a bag behind you in another video and I'm so excited to see what you've got to say about them Rick!
I bought a 7 wood in this new launch and I really enjoy it :)
Love to see you try out the Cobra Fly XL golf clubs.
I've been eyeing up the new MacGregor clubs... They're affordable and very nice looking.
I bought the driver on your review. Haven't played it yet as its been raining almost daily. We shall see Mr. Rick. 😀
let us know how you get on with it!
