  • n this video I compare the different Stabilization options available for Sony A7S III:
    1. In Camera SteadyShot (Standard)
    2. In Camera Active mode (based on gyro data)
    3. Catalyst browse stabilization (in Post using gyro data).
    Observation:
Result from Catalyst Browse is just unbelievable considering the shake in the footage and the crop ratio is only 80% here.
    Test Condition:
    Sony A7SIII (Handheld)
    Lens: Sigma 20mm f/1.4
    XAVC-S 4k 60p
Note: I was very casual when shooting these and didn't go for the ninja walk that is also evident in the SteadyShot Off mode. :)

When using catalyst browse, did you use the footage with steadyshot on, active or off??

I have this exact same question

In catalyst browse I used the footage with stead shot off. At the time of shooting this video, catalyst browse only supported videos with steadyshot off.

I have a question. shutter speed in this video? thanks.

Hey I will share the shutter speed soon but it was definitely not 1/50s and was shot at higher shutter speed with no ND since catalyst browse anyways adds distracting motion blur in case of slow shutter speeds when stabilizing.

Brother r5 and sony a7s3 which have better stablization

From the reviews of others it seems r5 has a superior stabilization compared to footage coming straight from Sony's standard stabilization.

Oh yes ..it's really good just needs some planning and extra time in post. Do watch Brandon Li's video on catalyst browse.. you will be amazed..how good it performs in the hands of a professional!👍🏻

Is it true that if you use Catalyst Browse, your 10 bit footage is reduced to 8 bit ?

As far as I know, 10 bit footage is only available for Catalyst Prepare, which is the paid version. Only 8bit is available for Catalyst Browse (free)
