- Pakistan's illustrious vocalist Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan and his talented nephew/disciple Akbar Ali perform Raag Jog. This is the first instance of the ustad and shagird performing as a duo. The performance was part of Lahore Music Forum's Sangeet Mela on taken place at PILAC on 3rd January 2016. Anil Sunny (Tabla), Zohaib Hassan (Sarangi), Khairat Ali (Harmonium) and Ghulam Sabir (Tanpura) provide accompaniment.

Many ragas are famous because of their chalan and some ragas become interesting because of gaayaki like Ustadji. I am lucky that i can listen this devotional gaayaki.
Ustadji main tahe dil se aapko naman karta hun. Aansu ruk nahi rahe aapko sunte huye.
I first time listened to Ustad ji at Harivallabh Sangeet sammelan Japan Jalandhar, India. I was wonderful time .. I was spell bound.

I would have been delighted to hear Ustad Javed Bashir saab do more classical bandishes like his brother Akbar Ali. With due respect to all the maestros I see no other classical singer in Punjab today whose voice has that kind of depth and flexibility

Late Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan was father of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
This raag is being sung by Ustal Mubarak Ali as well but he is from Tonk Rajasthan (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mubarak_Ali)
asbfkbahvbchs, choot ke dhakan, The person who is from Tonk Rajasthan is a Pakistani historian, activist and scholar not a classical singer.
That late Ustad Mubarak Sahib (of Faisal Abad) was Taya Jan of Nusrat Sahib. This Ustad Mubarak Sahib is different

No doubt he is a seasoned artiste Ustad.
But his Gayaki leans more on the lighter Thumri Ang projection of the Raga and Surak Murak in Badhat and Vistaar of the Raga.
With due respect I feel saying that his Gayaki doesn't match his age of 78 years. Its remarkable. Son
Akbar Ali is also very promising.

Akbar Ali seems to have a real problem bringing out the rag bhav. Jog and singing with Mubarik Ali Khan sahab make it very obvious. There is no doubt he is a good singer and can do a lot with his voice. Not only that but he has a good quality to his voice. For some reason he ends up sounding like a lot of boring khyal singers who try to copy Ustad Amir Khan. There is a long way to go before he internalizes the music and we hear Akbar Ali the artist. LMF seems to be the perfect stage to develop him but I hope he is getting good feedback and not just compliments.

I think Akbar Ali is a perfect classical vocalist but to match the Sur (such a meeththas) of ustad mubarak Ali is hell of a job. Well done Akbar Ali.
