if your vehicle isn't specifically designed to use e-85 then you're going to witness the singlehanded reason that platinum prices have been driven up as high as they are as it turns the inside of certain parts to glass due to overheating (i don't remember which part it is but I remember when fixing my cousin's husband's car which experienced the problem for the specific reason that he used e-85 we knocked out a glassed sort of filter that was long tubular in shape with a grid of square holes in it which that method is illegal to do in some states making this repair even more costly for some places due to the added difficulty of the repair). e-85 stands for 85% alcohol which while yes burns at a higher rate also burns at a way higher temperature. It's not made for the majority of most everyday cars. look at what your vehicle is specifically rated to use and use that. The lower cost of ethanol over time doesn't make up for the costs of replacing parts in your engine.

@K Sk I am, I know I’m not their only E85 customer, seen modified cars, flex fuel minivans used as a taxi, then regular civilian vans, trucks, SUVs, and passenger cars like ours.
Put E10 (10% ethanol) in our car and got sludge all the way through the engine (even on the plastic dipstick): Seems that the ethanol oxidises and then polymerises. Oil analysis picked up increased fuel dilution as well (up to 5 %). As soon as the E10 was stopped the fuel dilution problem decreased back to normal levels (1-2%)... although it has yet to drop back to 0 %. Presumably, the rings got stuck and let fuel leak into the oil? The sludge is amazingly tenacious and flushing the engine didn't seem to help much. N.B. Fuel dilution compromises lubrication... so wear can be expected to increase. BTW: There's a ~6 % drop in fuel efficiency with E10 (less energy-dense): If E85 gives you a ~30-40 % drop in fuel efficiency how does it make sense economically? The more frequent oil changes required with E85 are another undesirable cost... especially if you drive a lot. :-(

@K Sk I am, I know I’m not their only E85 customer, seen modified cars, flex fuel minivans used as a taxi, then regular civilian vans, trucks, SUVs, and passenger cars like ours.
Will FI ever do a "So you want a SAAB"?
Gotta b specific “so you want a viggen”
@@brandonanderson2998 oooh that'd be nice! Viggens are one of the best Saabs, but other cool ones are the SAAB 9000 AERO/225 and the 900 SPG
I totally agree! Definitely gotta do and areo I fucking love those! Not that fake ass Subaru think tho haha
No one ever wants a Saab
Put E10 (10% ethanol) in our car and got sludge all the way through the engine (even on the plastic dipstick):
Seems that the ethanol oxidises and then polymerises.
BTW: There's a ~6 % drop in fuel efficiency with E10 (less energy-dense):
If E85 gives you a ~30-40 % drop in fuel efficiency how does it make sense economically?
The more frequent oil changes required with E85 are another undesirable cost... especially if you drive a lot.
:-(
So I should find that E85 for my 2016 Nissan base model Versa?
I've been using E85 in my 2012 Tahoe police Tahoe instead of putting 93 octane in it paying four dollars a gallon. I'm paying 250.
Screw that, 93 octane ALWAYS!!!
So for my g35 would it be ok
If you don’t have the proper mods to support it, no
Is mixing diesel and unleaded bad for a 93 carby civic....No. It loved it 😂
No is not. Just remember it needs to be a 50/50 blend. If you go over, you are going to have to buy pure sugar and pour 3 scoops in it. This will make the car run smooth again. 😉
Why would you do that for an eco box that takes the lowest octane gas
I can't wait to switch to E85 on my turbo FRS , for the extra power ⛽️
insta,
You think I can use E85 on my 2009 Mercedes Benz C300???? It has a yellow outer ring on the gas cap, says Premium or E85 only, and under the hood in the emissions info it says Gasoline/Ethanol. And If so can I js wait till my tank is almost empty off 91 to fill fill of E85??
Yes if its optioned with it its fine. I’ve been running E85 in my 2011 C300 and its a trooper!
I got a 22.5gl tank on my turbo JL.. What if I mix half E85 with 91 octane?
This video is literally useless for us EU guys...
I'm from France and I'm also asking why ? Ethanol is pretty common here, it's getting more and more popular.
Ireland doesnt have ethanol pumps just gasoline and diesel
@@arzo9986 Czech republic and around is the same.
Look on the bright side - at least most of you guys are not as socially restricted as we are in the US right now.
Welcome to the US @bent where we don’t get shit. EVER
My 86 E30 runs terrible on ethanol blend. The old Motronic can't deal with it. My Miata shockingly runs the same regardless.
A Wisconsin accent sounds like a mix of Canadian person and a person from Minnesota. I am from Wisconsin writing this in Wisconsin, with a Wisconsin accent
i’m from mn but never heard the “ minnesota accent “
I am from Wisconsin and I had never known what a Wisconsin accent... until my friend from out of state pointed it out. And that is the exact way he described it. So don’t ask me
Gas station named Kum N Go 🤣🤣🤣 woulda never thought it was what it is🤣 my guess woulda been a Happy Ending😃
I hate it !
I was using 88 and then went to E85 and then my car lost power and my check engine light came on.
Yes, I have a flex fuel vehicle
I had to put in fuel injector cleaner
It helped a little.
My wife loves it ! She puts it in her Chrysler Town and Country POS
FYI: don’t buy one!
Engine has a plastic piece under the oil filter instead of metal (designed to fail)
$800 to replace when it cracks and the sliding power door mechanisms break too!
What's e85?
They pretty much explained it in the video
@@Alex-vz2jz ooo oke
51% to 83% corn liquor and 15% to 49% gasoline at the pumps, most likely with sub grade gas unless you buy by the drum like with VP, Sonoco, Rockett, and other race gas manufacturers .
Show some Diesel bois some love
“So you want a TDI”
there’s a little community around these, it’d be nice giving some recognition to the torquey boys.
No
cant wait to go e85 on my Z
Can you still use water+methanol injection with an e85 system?
Maybe you have an answer for me. My car has a motor that in every application it is used..it is flex fuel...My car, it is not.. Its the LFX V6 by Chevrolet... Would it mess up mine ? Same motor, just not flex fuel. Thanks.
Don’t use E85 if the car was not designed for it. Needs to have larger fuel lines, injectors, tuned for it. Great to have flex fuel car( pollutes less than a Prius too!)
OMG, how did you know it was like noon on a Monday...
Personally, id want to put e85 in my daily driver as long is it's flexfuel, mainly because I wanna save money when regular gasoline becomes 1$ more than e85. Also I could probably make my own eathonol and run it through the system.
I put $5 of E85 In my focus ST and the rest with 93 it felt faster but until I get a tune I’ll wait
Day 26 asking fitment industries to do an episode on so you want a lotus exige s. I'm back :).

I feel ya mate, mine is on the 8th of December.
@@redouanbouziane4022 ya man.
Here in Macedonia, fuel is expensive and it's also shit. We don't have any alcohol in the mix. Especially not e85. It's about 1 dollar per litre.
Video for different kinds of exhaust?
Is it safe for a bmw 330i 2018
Can i put it in my 2008 impreza?
I hope I get the coilovers :) got me the graveyard hoodie, gonna wear it 24/7 now
LETSS GOOOOOOOO!!!!! lol for real tho thank you for the support!🤘
love the content
Forgot to mention the downsides of Ethanol/E85, lower MPG's. Great for making power, not so great for fuel economy.
In many cases, the considerable reductions in cost over more performance oriented fuels does counter that lower mpg.
@@GreenJeep1998 especially right now with the gas crisis
@@Daschill_ only e85 station near me sells it for more than other stations, although if you're deciding over a premium tune vs e85 tune the e85 is definitely cheaper.
@@Nick-vp1dk I was thinking flex just for convenience. I have E85 access pretty much in most cities I travel to. It would mainly be for cost savings rather than 100% E85 tune for performance. That way too if I store it for the winter I can flush the E85 out with premium so I don’t have to worry about any separation/water issues. The E85 by me is like $2.47 meanwhile premium is like $5. At 15%-27% less mpg using E85 over Premium it’s still saving me money per gallon at half the price.
@@Daschill_ SE Missouri and they charge 2.69!! I can get regular for $2.54 w my Philips cred card (25c off of 2.79) Ram 1500 so it's regular or e85.
It will turn your crank case into sludge. Only use on track and change your oil after
I'm watching this at 12:56 on Monday lol 8 months later

Me with a daily I just filled with e90 🌚
