Unpopular opinion: I like both DmC and DMC 5.

Dante showed major character development. Him and Kat are perfect together.
Agreed. You don't see this often in games of this genre, but the writers dedicated a good amount of time to showing character development and grounds for them to come together. Thing is, they didn't go the usual route and have her fall for Dante at the end, sure she may feel something but its too soon, she was in love with Vergil before and I respect them not making her so wishy washy. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

19:20 This is where i thought the new Dante wasn't really that bad... he wanted to help Kat and reassure her that everything will be alright, there's no need to be scared. Sure he's not the same Dante we know but he holds some of major traits of the old Dante very well.
i like this Dante too. Do not understand why people bashso hard this game. Sure it is not as great as DMC 3 but still quite enjojable.
Yea the gameplay was pretty decent in this game. Can't wait for DMC 5 though :)
The way Dante and Kat protect each other is so adorable. The amount of character development with Dante was genuinely really good. Dante's first impression wasn't the best but if you went through the game, you'd see his character and attitude change.
I miss this emotionally platonic chemistry that Reboot-Dante and DMC-Kat (I put DMC in her name there as to not confuse the Kat name with Gravity Rush-Kat of course) once had together before the DMC franchise returned to it’s original continuity, and I know that Reboot-Dante was the most hated by DMC fans for years now due to how his redesign had alienated Dante fans for years now, which would explain how we longtime DMC fans got to see the Devil May Cry franchise return to it’s original continuity in the form of DMC5 of course.
Though I sometimes now wonder what DMC-Kat would look like in the DMC Franchise’s original continuity if she were to return in DMC6 but with a new Original Continuity design where she could be made a literal Angel or Half Angel incarnation that would meet up and reunite with Dante but as a single mother introducing an Angel or Half Angel-Half Demon mixed child to Dante as his illegitimate son, as a nod to how the original continuity’s first DMC game’s ending had Dante tell a defeated Mundus to give Dante’s regards to his future son, or have Dante’s child be introduced as his daughter as a Retcon choice maybe?
I honestly just love and miss seeing Reboot-Dante and DMC-Kat together so much, that they were honestly the best platonic team I wish could’ve made into the canonical couple throughout the middle acts or ending of DMC 2013 almost 10 years ago as of 9-4-2022 of this comment of course.
Who would look at "Reboot Dante" and automatically think you don't mean Kat from the same game? LMAO This Kat and that Kat arent in the same universe lol

It’s just that those two both have their names spelled with a K, while I agree those two Kats are technically from two separate video game universes, the both of them did appear in the SSB clone game: PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale that one time with DMC-Kat as a floating Minion that PlayStation All-Stars players could use as their own decorative sidekick that one time😂, and the time Gravity Rush-Kat was a DLC playable character that you’d have to download from the PlayStation Store and then play as her in that PlayStation crossover title too, and what’s ironic is that the DMC Reboot released in January 2013 even though it was supposed to come out around the same last year that Gravity Rush and PlayStation All-Stars did back in 2012, at least that’s the reason why I remember both those female video game characters sharing both the same name and the same K spelling back in those days🤣.
But of course in retrospect, if I had to pick which Cat named character with a K Spelling that I liked the most back in early 2010’s video games back in the day then, I’d picked Gravity Rush-Kat as my favorite over DMC-Kat, especially when the first Gravity Rush game which started off as a PS3 project before it became a PSVITA exclusive later got itself a PS4 remaster to go along with it’s PS4 exclusive sequel of course. So which Kat from those two video game series would you have preferred too back then😏?

if this game comes before all the other DMCs where is kat in them ? NOTE a friend of mine told me this was the order that this game was first then all the others.. im just starting to get into the DMC games .

DmC is a reboot so Kat is only introduced in this game. She's never been in the others / had a counterpart in the original Devil May Cry. The only original characters in DmC are dante, vergil, eva, sparda, and mundus. The chronological order of the original series though is Devil May Cry 3, then Devil May Cry 1, 4, 2. Hope I helped :)

I think it explained in the comics that vergil and kat were once in love with each other, but vergil wiped her memory because he saw it as a weakness.
@Professor J Indeed.There is a visual reference to Kat in DMC 5 though.V has the same arm tattoos as Kat did!This is fitting considering they`re both connected to Vergil with V being Vergil`s human half and Kat being Vergil`s human accomplice and ex-lover before he turns his back on the human world for power!
My theory is that dante and vergil always treated kat like they don't need her help in some situations similar to v, urizen and dante calling nero useless, human and deadweight

Which the developers had said this same had nothing to do with, and more so that this was like an alternate reality. If this game didn't have the Devil May Cry title I'm sure it would have done fine. And this is coming from someone who has played the original games and read the manga and anime. And I still liked this game. Sucks that they probably won't make a part 2.

A classical lover here, I wasn't actually a hater of this game either but the way it was overly westernised and Dante's character was some kind of a douchbag whereas in classics Dante is actually cool and Vergil was oh god so cringe and weak in this like in the classics Vergil is sooooo badass! And awesome but here he's... so dull
