Final Fantasy X is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary and, as such, we thought it would be the perfect time to revisit some pretty obscure facts relating to the game.
These relate to its creation, things that happened post-release and plenty of in-game items too and we hope you find them all rather insightful!

I'm convinced that everyone who doesn't get the laughing scene either didn't play the game or was not paying attention to the cutscene
yeah, the context is key, the dialogue before and after. Makes it clear that it's supposed to be awkward and to make Tidus feel better even if forced.
the people memeing on it just show the laughter, which without context definitely is strange.

The laughing scene was totally meant to be as cheesy and awkward as possible.
Why is that so hard for so many people to get?
It just shows how oblivious they are to the story!
Some people just dont have any braincells.
People must either be dumb or didn't watch the full scene. It is literally in there that they're doing it awkwardly AND AFTERWARDS, they do it naturally after relieving their stress.
I played the game when I was 10 and I understood why the laugh was like that. I can't believe people thought it was unintentional.
It really does suck that such a nice and important scene for the game is made fun of constantly because people completely ignore the context. I've only ever seen the laugh used the right way once out of at least 100 times.

It actually stands from any other final fantasy, since it’s inspiration comes from south Asian culture (Indonesia, Thailand, India) , the architecture, the beaches, it is colorful...
A quite contrast to the medieval theme of the first FFs and the steampunk and present features of FF VI, FFVII and VIII, in which also Kitase was involved, while Sakaguchi, was always focusing in medieval... In fact, now I just realize the influence of Kitase changing the worlds of FFs, creating fantasy worlds that transcends the medieval themes, in which is mostly depicted in many games, like Skyrim, The Withcher, WoW, Dragon Quest
Ffx remake in the vein of ff7 remake would be cool, exploring the world and backstories in more detail, not to mention ffx has some of the most gorgeous concept art out there, and one of my favorite art style
I always have said they should do another world in spira. Maybe not a spin off or continuation but just that world in general I really loved
The song titled “Besaid” played a huge role in pulling me out of depression years ago. Something about the peaceful music you hear when washing ashore after surviving the early incidents with Sin made it easier for me to focus on what’s ahead instead of what’s in the past.
Rikku's theme is also underappreciated.

I found a reference to the Beatles in FFX! If you go into the Crusaders Lodge in Besaid towards the beginning, you'll find a guy working next to Luzzu. If you talk to him, he'll say "I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in". "Fixing a Hole" by the Beatles starts with those exact words!
This game is so special to me. Just thinking about it brings back so much nostalgia and fondness. LOVE FINAL FANTASY X

I remember being so drawn to the cover art (American) and being hyped for the next final fantasy (after playing 7-9) that I had saved up allowance and bought this game before I even had a PS2.
The laughing scene is so misunderstood I don't get it. It's literally explained blatantly.
Cut scene words too difficult to listen to.
Must follow internet blindly.
I dunno, I've never seen someone actually misunderstand it. It is just extremely cringe inducing/second-hand awkward inducing. People get it, it is just really off-putting and gross feeling.
It's the same with the "bad acting/bad dialog" of the Star Wars prequels.
People are literally just too stupid to understand the underlying emotions behind the scenes.

'getting the scene' doesn't make the scene good. It's a bad scene.
I always interpreted the laughing scene as Yuna and Tidus bonding over being the children of celebrities and growing up needing to be able to put on a public facing mask for the sake of their parents. The fake laughing was them making fun the farce of it because they were never truly laughing despite how used to doing it they likely became.
Most of the time I see these "X" fact you didn't know videos and they are all common knowledge of thing syou would know if you have an interest into that game.. 100% didnt know any of these and even checked my copy of ffx for the kitfox screenshot. Completely amazed. Well done.

I always assumed the laughing scene was a nod to the laughing scene in My Neighbor Totoro. Where the father has his kids fake laugh to help them not be afraid.
My favorite would probably be, O'aka, Mikah and Maechen being voiced by the same person. I also enjoyed the reference to FF4. Thank you for this!!!

I love how I just started a new playthrough on the remaster version. FFX was my very first rpg game and helped me realize it was my favorite game genre.
It matters a lot to me.
The joy I felt playing this game has never been matched, I love everything about it, everything, even the cloisters, I love puzzles so it was great! If they ever do X-3, my god, I would be first in line to get it.
I heard that they are FINALLY doing FF X-3! Due to the massive response of that extra bit on the FF X & X-2 HD Remaster! MAN! I hope this actually happens!
I would be right next to you! I really want to see more of Yuna, Tidus, and the gang! FFX is still to this day my favorite game. Even if they did a prequel about Braska and his journey, I would play!

I absolutely love X! It was the first final fantasy I ever beat and the first one I played multiple times as well as doing extra side quests and earning the celestial weapons was one of my favorite parts
I never knew Yuna and Tidus were so young. I always thought they were in their early 20's

Am I the only one who found the laughing scene really moving? I remember first playing this as a depressed kid when it come out, I didn’t find it awkward or jarring at all, that was actually one of of the scenes that stayed with me (‘I’m now a depressed adult) until the bloody memes came and started taking the piss..

Yuna's advice to Tidus is something we should all carry with us in life!
I never feel awkwardness IRL.. Just think of why something is happening and it wont feel cringe anymore.. same goes for this scene.. if you're into the story, the scene make perfect sense and uses nuances that we rarely see in games.. The fact that Yuna mocks the way that she always feel the need to be joyful in public and transforms that into a cheerful moment for Tidus was a great idea.
Actually, people not getting that concept are just socially dumber than the rest, refering to the different types of intelligence.. (unpopular opinion in the end but thats how I feel about it)
Especially when you understand Yuna puts on a brave face for everyone - even Tidus
As a teenager I never thought it was that bad, and 20 years later I still don't. The laugh followed a literal talk about no matter how bad times get, you have to smile through the pain to keep going. Tidus didn't have the best childhood and Yuna literally has the fate of the world on her shoulders. They're both hurting. But Yuna says to smile, and Tidus wants to her to do so. And boy, nobody can be forced to laugh and make it sound genuine, lol. It was forced laughter! It was two teenagers being goofy teenagers, which is STILL to this DAY refreshing to see in a game. In their faults they felt real.
We had some good teenage protags in the early 2000's with Yuna, Tidus, and Heather.
When I first saw it I thought kit Fox was just a renamed aeon now I feel like a genius 😂
I never thought it was a secret aeon either
Considering it's in Ixion's place, I thought that was kind of obvious, but people see secrets and conspiracies everywhere. See: The entire supergroup of Yaoi and Yuri fans.
Who else damn near cries at the ending of FFX? I have beat it many times, and the ending is STILL one of the most emotional that I have ever seen!
Final Fantasy X is perhaps the only game ever created that was so deep and intricately written that it continues to produce "new content" 19 years after it released.
Thank you for the new video today! I love Final Fantasy X. My favorite topic was learning of Yuna's secret backstory. It's really neat that elements of her from the early drafts remained in the final game.
Maechen is my favorite X / X-2 npc. His stories conclusion in X-2 made me smile with tears in my eyes.

I mean you don't call chocolate "shocola" just because that's how the French pronounce it.

For context to anyone who hasn't played FFXIV, the description of Fox Kit is as below:

Final Fantasy X is one of the greatest games of all time. Up there on the list alongside Ocarina of Time and Skyrim.
Skyrim's narrative pales in comparison to FFX
Skyrim is fun but idk why people callit the best of all time. It's a game where you have to make it whatever you want me persoanly I like games where you go on a journey with a strong cast of characters.

After operation Mi'ihen you can actually backtrack all the way back to Besaid island.
I did it, you take a ship back and can find a ridiculously strong weapon for Wakka on one of the NPC'S who ask you to count the seagulls around the boat while you sail back.
The weapon gives Wakka an insane magic attack stat boost with all 4 skill slots full.
If I remember correctly a decent number of NPC'S have changed dialogue before and after operation Mi'ihen.
That's how Tidus and Wakka came to Kingdom Hearts in Destiny Island as little kids with Sephie, Sora, Riku and Kairi before they got older in their own game Final Fantasy X.
It's cool how they used the idea about undertaking a pilgrimage to stop a plague later on in the series. I'd say that's pretty much Lunafreya's story. Even the parts about the plague being orchestrated.
Kit Fox sounds like it could have been Carbuncle. but think myself that it was just someone renamed one of the Aeons
One of my favorite things about FFX was backtracking whenever possible and seeing how things have shifted throughout the story. Such plentiful world building.

Also, O'aka and his brother (can't remember his name) were guardians to their sister, who was a summoner, when she went on pilgrimage! She then dies later. He feels really bad and guilty as a result. That's why he helps Yuna to the extent that he does, so he hopes the same thing doesn't happen again! I think this part is in X-2, when Yuna talks to him at the Sphere Theater! Not sure?
This video literally just had me hunt out my original PAL FFX case just to confirm Kit Fox...
