How nobody is able to make a wireless GameCube controller witb rumble is beyond me.
They could, but it would drain the batteries faster, and yeah you could go with a rechargeable battery pack to get it to last longer, but what happens when that battery pack stops charging, it's easier to replace some AA's, or AAA's, and you can even get USB rechargeable ones as well.

Search for the exlene gamecube controller, thats the best third party gamecube controller i have ever used.
It has rumble
It is wireless
It has motion controls
It also has zl, l3 and r3
And oh yeah, it uses a usb c to charge, so no batteries!

Yeah, but Bluetooth is still getting updated, while non-Bluetooth 2.4GHz is pretty much stagnant.

Wii u adapter works on switch. But it only works with really basic games that dont require ZL. And smash ultimate.

@@Left4Cake good call, I haven't tried it much. It's not good for 2d platformers cause of the d pad, not good for most 3d games cause no ZL. I was sort of hoping Nintendo would make one with ZL and correct shoulder button mapping, but its ultimately (unintentional pun) a niche market. Even I can recognize the latest batch wasnt right.

@@fluttershystayshigh4202 There's an adapter available since the Wii U days that you can use. I personally don't have any wireless GameCube controllers, but it doesn't look too dissimilar to the front of a GameCube. The GBros. adapter, on the other hand, is certainly out of the question.

Wavebird gamecube control was my first wireless control. I still use mine.
Actually 2.4ghz is still pretty standard on most wireless stuff these days. Pretty much all my wireless mice, keyboards etc. Have all used 2.4ghz even my high end wireless mouse still uses it. The only real concern with it is interference if you have a bunch of 2.4ghz stuff going on at once but I've never personally had any. If this was using Bluetooth that would probably be worse given cheap Bluetooth implementations have atrocious lag when used in controllers and input devices.
This is just a rebrand of a generic controller you can get off ebay

My cousin and I always had these controllers for our GameCube. Happy memories of us play Mario Kart Double Dash and Pikmin 2.
I still have my Wavebird. Recently refurbished it. I will never get rid of that controller. Best wireless controller ever.
Guess I made the right choice buying one this week, then. My dad’s Wavebird just started drifting a couple weeks ago, so hopefully this will be a suitable replacement. Thankfully the one I have still works fine.

Amazing. Only thing More I could ask for is the original Gray color. Silver is close enough and black looks great.

How is that any different from the cheap wavebird lookalikes on ebay? It just looks to me like old skool got a bunch and just slapped their label on it.
Might be better quality parts. Some of those suffer from awful soddering & stuff

I still have my original WaveBird somehow even though I've owned and sold about 10 Gamecubes since then...it just keeps turning up in my "junk" somehow...I don't ever remember conscientiously making note to keep it. Now that I collect I do lol

i have RC cars, boats etc that use 2.4GH. its designed so you dont need to make any channel adjustments or searches. it creates a unique frequency from the controller to the receiver.
I've noticed some games do not work with this controller (So far, The Two Towers and Rogue Leader will not pair when I try to play them). I wonder if the Wavebird had that issue too? 🤔
Outside of that, it does work good with the games it works with, even if there is no rumble feature.
I use this on my pc using the Dolphin Emulator and it works beautifully. Highly recommend it!

Is the battery compartment identical to the original wavebird? I recently had the battery compartment (the thing that you have to open in order to get to the batteries) break on my old wavebird and this if would serve as a new back that would be lovely.

I still have my old WaveBird! It works fine. One problem... My GameCube died in a basement flooding a couple years ago. Good thing I saved all the peripherals!
I remember my first wavebird controller used it for 3 years without ever needing to change the batteries

This black Falcon controller I bought off Amazon works fine through my Wii, but I tried it on my GameCube and there is no input. Any suggestions?
Maybe you could get the All Controller to support older consoles with proprietary controller connectors. If it ever comes to the backers. Been 2+years and Shane has decided to step out of the project back in May 2019 saying that it was close to being shipped out, but Oct 2nd, 2019 we are just now seeing that they are expected to be in mailboxes by late November and that the next update would have box art, but seeing how this project has gone so far it will probably be delayed due to the box art and then the next gen consoles will release and they will hold waiting til the dev team has gotten the all controller working on those.

I just about 2 used wavebirds for $60.
Also just an adapter for PC and you use it for emulation.
They may have been too faithful, not fixing any flaws. It doesn't have an removable rechargeable battery and like you said, the dpad is the same. That being said looks great
Though do you know if they sell the thumbstick seperatle? When I bought my wavebird, the thumbstick cap was broken. Right now I using an off brand wii nunchuck thumbstick cap. It's not great but it's functional.

I have one rebranded as the wavedash and the increased sensitivity actually sucks. Moving the stick just under halfway toward the edge will cause it to register full input. I was testing it with starwars rebel strike and while flying, your ship wants to jerk towards where ever you press. There's no smooth turns and fine aim controll for shots.
The way you critique these are intriguing, you do it objectively yet you still add the appropriate emotion that really kick your personality expressed to the next level. Especially in your " Worst __ Ever " series where you make the experience fun while still able to showcase the mediocre things and that's one of the best reasons why you deserve more subs, etc

It has no channel dial, is permanently attached to its own reciever, only 2 can be used at once and the triggers are not properly designed. What I'm against is companies buying cheap knock-off from AliExpress, putting a sticker with their brand on it and charge at least 4 times what cost them when they bulk bought them. Also, TH-cam reviewers that make bad reviews of good things and good reviews of bad things when it's convenient for them. So much for integrity.

The A button looks like it's a little bit too deep into the controller. I wonder why they wouldn't use bluetooth though.
The only Old Skool device I have right now is an HDMI to SD downscaler. While it works great, I just forget to plug it into an outlet when using my PlayStations which causes some A/V problems.
I had a wavebird as a kid, I didn’t like it because it frequently lost connection with the wireless dongle. I ended up ditching it for a wired controller. It seems I’m the only one on Earth that had this problem since I haven’t seen a single video review ever mention it.
I tried different channels on the dongle to thinking there was interference on that particular channel or channels. Even if it worked for a little bit, always resulted in input issues. And yes, my batteries were fine. I tried switching out to fresh batteries, same issue.
Now my old wavebird controller can meet its succesor.
I have mine but it doesn't work. Just doesn't do anything. Not sure what went wrong. Wired controllers are always quicker though.

it would work with my wii, but if I want a wireless Gamecube controller I think the ESP32 mod like the hackaday bluecubemod project would work better tho, because switch support.

Someone need to Remake the wavebird properly, with some modern improvements like built in rechargable batteries and updated radio signals for improved latency. Design is perfect leave that alone.

WaveBirds are still reasonable just not CIB. I am always skeptical about OldSkool products (now). The Classiq II I had did not last too long. Nintendo’s stuff is (usually) top notch and lasts “forever.” My NES still works like a champ!

So, it's 2.4 GHz wireless, presumably using UHF radio signal, which you erroneously said the OG Wavebird didn't use, though it totes did, just the Wavebird was just UHF, instead of the really crap low signals the other ones would use.
So the only difference between this thing's signal and Bluetooth is the branding?

They should have just added vibration. Rechargeable batteries have come a long way.
I'm honestly glad they did not use rechargeable batteries as in the future replacing that kind of battery can be a pain in the butt, but you could always use rechargeable AAA batteries of your choosing.

Even the official one does not have any, and it’s because the wavebird only sends signals, doesn’t receive any like wired controllers. So if they were to add rumble, they would need to change the entire way it operates and it would be expensive,nearly impossible by 2001 standards, hard to
manufacture, and thus, rare. Would you prefer that?
The same one like every third party wireless controller.... exact the same that i bought for 20$ new on ebay. just search for gamecube wireless controller. only the branding is missing on the top. but the space for the branding is already there....

Yeah Umm i kinda got this controller because I saw your video and... I didn't like it... The analog sticks were too stiff, and the A button works most of the time but other times doesn't register... Yeah honestly I think I would rather get an official wavebird or the new wireless GameCube controller that released months ago
These are rare now? Got my most recent two for 15 bucks each, great condition, receivers included. Guess I got a good deal then.
