    Pharmacology does not have to be boring! Learn how I use the word to break down some key elements to help you memorize less and apply more.
    Of course there is an NCLEX question for you to apply what you have learned about the pharmacodynamics of this drug.
    Sulfa drugs, more commonly known as sulfa drugs, we talk about the classification, generic drug names such as sulfadiazine and the common combo Bactrim (cotrimoxazole).
    Nursing students, nurses, and other health care professionals will benefit from having some tips to help them recall how these antibiotics work.

    S- Sun sensitivity, steven johnson syndrome, superinfections (stomatitis), seizures (adverse effect)
    U- UTI treatment, Urine output needs to be monitored
    L- Low WBC count
    F- Folic Acid Synthesis Inhibitor
    O- otitis media, oral
    N- Not to be taken with food
    A
    M
    I- Infant not safe because it is distributed though breastmilk, teratogenic
    D- Drink lots of water to prevent kidney stones, diabetics need to watch blood sugar

    Nice lecture, easy way to remember 👌. Sulpha drugs should also be avoided in those who have g6pd deficiency as it may cause haemolysis
