In '79, my senior year, one of our students was diagnosed with leukemia. All of us football players shaved our heads for homecoming and we ,as a group, asked her to be our dates for the homecoming dance. We kept her on the dance floor all night. I will never forget it. Sadly, she lost the fight. But she was one of my inspirations to become a medical professional and I worked in cancer treatment for many years.
I was diagnosed with cancer when I was 12 and my first year of middle school I was completely bald. This song brings back so many memories...both good and bad but because of my incredible doctors, supportive family and friends and Jesus Christ I made it through!! God Bless all cancer survivors and all that are going through it now!!
I lost my younger brother to cancer 3 yrs ago. He was only 55 yrs old. A father of two, a husband, son, brother and my best friend and I miss him terribly every day. I still can't believe he's gone. I feel for everyone that has to go through this. I pray that you will find peace.
I lost my dad to cancer when I was 13. He was only 44 years old. That was 38 years ago! And there's not a day that goes by that I don't think of him. But...I know he is in peace. 💜❤😥😥😥
I am a truck driver and the first time I heard this song it was a good thing that I was on a nice straight stretch of highway because I was a blubbering mess by the time the song was over and it still hits me right in the heart every single time I hear it!
Rascal Flatts, Gary Levox worked for my Uncle at Columbus University Medical Center when his cousin told to form a band which is the bass player, piano.
My mom got a job as an office manager for a local dr ...I had gone in for a blood test ( I had the flu ) and my sister had some stuff going on and my mom had to send my sisters results to a pediatric oncologist and she accidentally sent mine with my sisters and they called her and said my sister was good but I needed to come in ... I found out then I had a rare blood disorder that is classified as a cancer ..I've been so lucky with how its effected me and I never lost my hair ...so I made a promise to myself that I would donate 18 inches of my hair every 3 years to help those who were not as lucky as I was ❤
I'm a harden grown man. I can never listen to this song without fighting back tears. I was blessed with three healthy kids and thank God they have never had to go through anything like that. I feel for any parent that has. God bless
The week this come out I found out my daughter had kidney cancer, was driving when I got the news, pulled off the road and lost it, then the surgeon took out the wrong kidney, long story but she is fine now and I have two beautiful grandkids now !
This is the right video. It was originally a bonus track on their album Feels like today. At the end of the CD, there was about 45 seconds of dead air then the announcement of this song. The young lady in the video was a cancer patient. It brings tears every single time.
I will always have difficulty listening to this song. Lost one of my best friends to Leukemia our senior year of high school. My first time hearing this song I literally had to pull over to the side of the road and just bawl my eyes out. RIP, Missy: 3/15/83-12/27/00
Sara Beth is a real person. A bunch of Country Artists got together at a children's Hospital. Meeting patients. They were making an album to raise funds for the hospital. Flatts met and talked with Sara Beth and that is where this song came from.
I first heard this song when I was a kid... maybe 10 or 12. I cried my eyes out. I learned it and I sing it for my sister.. who survived breast cancer twice.
Just like you- it is hard to find words. I first saw this video several years ago and forgot about it. Seeing it again I had the same reaction as you... grown men don't cry but I am comfortable enough in my skin to fell what I feel. Love your reaction girl.
I’m a fan and I vaguely remember this song, how could that be. I guess I’ll say this is my first time hearing it. Love the message. They’re retiring this year. I already purchased my tickets for October in Irvine California. I went last year and it was a beautiful experience. The venue was nice, bathrooms were plentiful and the people were so friendly.
It’s been well over 10 years since the first time I heard this and it still makes me cry. I heard it first on CMT music in the morning probably before school I was in 3rd grade
I've heard this song many times and its such a strong message to it, as someone who's gotten that call its the most world changing news, also just lost my grandpa to it in November now this song has even more meaning for me all I can picture is him and my grandma dancing around in their living room when I was a kid.
I was driving with my mom and this song came on and we both broke down crying because when I was 16 I was diagnosed with ewings sarcoma and especially when they got to the part about the hair on the pillow my hair had gotten knotted up one day when I put my wig on with my hair wet she tried to help me get it untangled but pretty much most of it just came out and we just bawled like a baby I remember both my parents got put on antidepressants I only had a one in four chance of living but I'm still around I was diagnosed in 91 I already beaten other cancer and I have a beautiful young man for a son and that was a 50-50 shot that I'd be able to have kids in the first place so the song has a lot of meaning for me and my family but above all I feel truly blessed to make it to the age of 47 which I'm turning on May 10th thank you for reviewing this I love this song in the memories it brought back may not have all been good but the ones that were were amazing for me the main problem was growing up past that understanding that you aren't guaranteed tomorrow and everyone around me with my age didn't really understand all that
You have one of the most beautiful souls I have ever came across in my life SUSHI. I hardly every cry, but for some strange reason when I see you react to a song and cry I cannot fight it. Your emotions are just undeniably genuine. Keep doing you.
You are such a beautiful soul,..to see your emotional reactions to these various country songs, welcome..that's the same reason that country won me over years ago ...god bless
If I remember correctly, this was a hidden track on one of their albums that I used to own. I listened to the album a few times before I stumbled across it, and it was just so powerful, even as a teenager.
It was yes. The girl’s name was Sara “Beth” Elizabeth Kennedy and she was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma which at her age was very rare to get but 10 months into her diagnosis she sadly lost her battle to this awful disease (I did research on it) but at the end of the video I love how her boyfriend came to pick her up for a school dance and he shaved his head to match her❤ I hope her guy knows that what he did melted hearts across the world. And there is a foundation set up in her name called SaraCare.
I haven’t listened to this song since my dad died of cancer and one day this week I just decided to listen to it and let me tell you driving and tearing up is not safe. I didn’t tear up until the end of the song because it brought back to when my godfather, uncle, Nanny and now my dad as well as my pets before the one I have now but when I first seen this I was so moved by the song that I had to do research on the true story behind this song and once I did I read it and cried (luckily my parents were asleep) so they didn’t hear me but i also relate to it because my godmother (was diagnosed with Breast cancer and she’s still here) both my dad and her were dealing with cancer at the same time so it was hard. But I DON’T wish this disease on anyone (baby, kid, teen, adult or senior) because I have seen first hand how it can break a family dynamic and the normal routine that the family follows. But I have also read that her parents Eddie and Norma they didn’t let the death of their daughter from this horrible disease break their bond and I’m glad that they are still married today (at least I hope they still are) but I also like how the boyfriend shaved his head to match hers when they went to prom/homecoming. That was a sweet gesture and it shows that he’s a very kind guy by making his then 1st love feel good about herself if she wasn’t bald alone and I find that very sweet. But girl a man that finds you will be so lucky to have you in their life your reaction to this song was so genuine and it shows how compassionate you are🩵💙
And the official video makes it a million times worse with the real life accounts, can't watch that video with anyone else around. So powerful... BTW for Sushi, it's "through it" Martina McBride doesn't spell it like a fast-food "drive thru" just so you don't have problems searching for it...
I am a big fan of your videos. You are absolutely beautiful. And from watching your videos and seeing how emotional songs like believe and this one and so many other ones get you I can tell your heart is just as beautiful. Will always be a fan.
1st heard this at a movie theater, in the bathroom (TMI?); by the end I was sitting there trying to avoid *audibly* crying, which wasn't easy! It still, years later, gets me every time!
I had a friend who died of breast cancer some years ago, and it made me think of her. Your reaction to the song Sushi was my reaction tot the memory of my friend. I hope she can feel mY sorrow, but mostly my Love because I will always miss her. Thank you Sushi.
I saw them in concert in Greenville, SC. They played this song then and brought a young woman on stage who had cancer and sang to her and then her boyfriend was brought on stage to dance with her.
When I was around 11 I was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder ( now classified as a form of blood cancer) and I use to go to a pediatric hematologist oncologist and my natural hair is a reddish brown ( it’s red in the sun) and I remember going into an appointment and this little girl came up to me ( she was a few years younger) and she kept twirling my hair in her fingers as we sat in the waiting room and I remember so vividly her ask her mom “ how come she gets to keep her hair and I can’t it isn’t fair” and that day I promised myself that if I could keep my hair I would donate. It ... and I’ve truely been incredibly blessed in my journey and I donate my hair every 3 years ..... i wish no one especially kids ever have to endure cancer
This song in particular will definitely give you a lump in your throat... beautiful message, beautiful song... a song I think you'd enjoy is called The Choice and it's on a channel by the name of Soles4Souls, it's 19 country artists singing a song that all the proceeds of the song go to getting shoes for children who can't afford shoes. Great song
Sushi Thank you for the love you feel for the human condition. It does my heart good to know people like you exist in a cold world where hate and distrust rein. God Bless you young lady
It simply shows you have an incredible heart it's a great song we are all more alike than we sometimes like to admit music is the great equalizer and has been the reason for more children being born and friends being made than anything else I can imagine.
Me my cuzin talking about her cancer, no matter what she loved life, told me keep loving life it's ok to hate cancer. She didn't lose her fight to cancer she won ,she above in paradise now I miss her so much!!
I'm 29 now but the first time I heard it my brother who resently passed back in Januarof this year played it for me when I was 17 after i got back from a doctor appointment when I was diagnosed with partial complex seizures
My high school friends niece Sarabeth had cancer and this song was actually about her. This is based on her story, and she did pass away not much longer after we graduated high school!
You're the most honest one I've ever found on reaction videos you got very true emotions just like all of us do don't ever hide your emotions on any other raction videos that's what makes you one of a kind I love watching your reaction thanks for being such a wonderful person with all due respect and very beautiful ebony Queen and I mean that with all due respect very high respect
Donald Johnson you’ve got this 💪🏻 I was dx with a rare form of cancer called LCH in 09 and battled until 2015 when I was also dx with MDS, Monosomy 7! I had a bone marrow transplant at JHU on 07/01/16! There’s light at the end of this long tunnel. Keep fighting! I’ll 🙏 for you!
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs coming your way. I have treatments every week for stage 2 breast cancer. My brother just passed away from stage 4 liver cancer that had spread to stomach and bile duct on 4/11/2020 at 39 years old. They just found it 3 months ago. We have to fight hard for the ones that didn't have a chance to fight. I hope this comment finds you doing well and fighting the fight. Big hugs and support is here whenever you need it. ♥️
i HAVE Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma...& this video really hit home..I've had it for one year BUT I'm 53..I can't imagine this on a young person because the meds are brutal... I can't even watch 5 secs of the Cancer ads for St. Jude...
OMG, I'm crying too. Powerful. I deal with a lot of bad things, everyday, that can taint your view. I don't want it to sound creepy but seeing you be emotional about the story is refreshing. Shows me there are people with a heart still out there. Stay safe and stay happy!
I love your reaction videos. Your reactions are so genuine! I’ve been watching this video since it first came out and it makes me cry every single time.
Rascal Flatts has a way of hitting you with they're song. Maybe I'm bias because I grew up in Nashville and I grew up listening to country but there is something about the genre. People always joke that country music is all "my girlfriend left me, I love my pickup truck, I go hunting with my dog" but it's really not. It's about love and pain and the little victories and struggles of everyday life. It's beautifully crafted stories as good as any movie you could watch. It's crying because the song reminds you of great struggles and of the little voice that tells you it's okay.
Sushi I just love your heart you have such a great spirit. When you hear a song that's meant to touch your heart you actually let it do that. That says a lot for your personality and for you love it! It's why I keep watching your videos. Love it!
Please, more Rascal Flats!! I heard this song when it came out. I list my leg to cancer at 15. Five months of chemotherapy followed. Hair fell out, and for months as it grew back, I wore a hat. I am now 56! God is good all the time!!!
The first time I heard this song I was driving. I had to pull over on the shoulder of the road. The song has more meaning to me now. My sister in law was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer. A very short life expectancy.
When it comes to your children, you would do anything to protect them from harm.Cancer you cant' protect them from and it's devastating! Ths song tore at my guts. Thank you for your sweet honest reaction!

Thank you for this post. Strong parenting, strong community and strong and caring people make this world beautiful. Chuck in NE Kansas
I graduated in 75 and lost a couple of friends to Cancer, now I'm 63 and have Leukemia, doing pretty well though.

RyGuy I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to this song and I still get tears all the way through it
Kendra I’m not even a fan of this music to be honest, but I gave it a chance and it hit me HARD
Same here so heartfelt.

I am so glad your baby is ok and you have beautiful grandchildren now.
Randy Travis - Three wooden crosses
wow such a great song sir!!
I'm already crying and your gonna add this? You sir.... are evil.
Every time I hear this song, it makes me super emotional. I have heard it so many times and it still does that.
This song devastated me when I was a kid (when it first came out lol). And it's making me cry still. What the heck ❤
You have such a sweet caring soul. I cry along with you watching your videos. ❤

Rascal Flatts is the reason i got into country music, and for that i will always be greatful to them.
You are SO pure. This song hurts so much and "Skin" is that song we listen to and hurts but is a triumph we all need. We are all touched by "it"...
Most country is all about the story and the message
The man that finds you will be the luckiest man alive! Your emotion and compassion you show is amazing!
The video uses the real family that this story is about.
Thank you for posting that. It makes the video much more.😢
Thats good to know thanks
No shit....didnt know that. ..oh man...
Just beautiful. Rascal Flatts has some terrific and emotional songs with great lyrics and his voice takes them to another level. I cried as well.
I’ve listened to this song upwards of 100 times and I still tear up
Sara Beth is a real person. A bunch of Country Artists got together at a children's Hospital. Meeting patients. They were making an album to raise funds for the hospital. Flatts met and talked with Sara Beth and that is where this song came from.
I mean, this song makes me a blubbering fool by itself because of my family's cancer history, but watching you and how you were moved... waterworks.
Nothing more beautiful than a beautiful woman weeping over a heartfelt video! Love your heart!😁
Tears from music is a pure expression of an honest soul.
Your reaction shows us what a wonderful sensitive person you are. This song hits the heart ad you my dear have a big heart.
I’ve been crying for so long after they announced their fair well tour because I’ve been listening to them my whole life
"Easy" Rascal Flatts ft. Natasha Bedingfield. Simply lovely.
Rascal flats is my favorite group in country. My favorite is “wont let go” it gives you warm fuzzies. If you cry its happy tears not sad”🌹
I'm curious to see her reaction to Alyssa Lies by Jason Michael Carroll.
Luv can be the greatest strength you can have and the right luv makes life worth living!

This song made me cry the first time I heard it ... Call me soft or what you want but I have lost family members to cancer! This song is deep!!

His voice is HUGE. That guy can sing. You’re so emotional. You have so much empathy.
Might want to check out Martina McBride...I'm gonna love you thru it
Martina? No. I'm 29 years old and Martina makes me cry my eyes out. Concrete angel, Independence Day, are literal year factories.

you are right he does have an incredible voice. They have a ton of hits!
I love this song. They are such great story tellers. His voice was made to be heard. Beautiful......

I heard it many years ago.. I wanna say 2007 and I listened to it a lot when my mom was diagnosed with and ultimately passed in 09 from cancer

Everyone talks about “Life is a Highway” but this one is my favorite.
Aww this is such a great song I was with my aunt in the car and we both cried it's sad and sweet aswell 🙏🙏💞💞
i HAVE Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma...& this video really hit home..I've had it for one year BUT I'm 53..I can't imagine this on a young person because the meds are brutal...
Your pure and honest reactions are so beautiful. I lost my dad in 2007 to stomach cancer then my mom in 2011 to lung cancer.
I cry like a baby every time I hear this song such a good song
Bucky covington "I'll walk" is another great song
If this doesn't bring you to tears, you're not human.
So absolutely beautiful!
I knew when I ask you to react to this your heart would melt, your the best!
I lost my baby sister to cancer, when this song is played, I picture dancing and happy! Thanks for this reaction.
I first heard this years ago and I cried too!
I lost my 6 yr old in 2017 to neuroblastoma cancer and this song hits super hard i cry everytime.
The first time I heard this song I was driving. I had to pull over on the shoulder of the road.
The song has more meaning to me now. My sister in law was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer. A very short life expectancy.
I was driving for work when I first heard this song. I had to pull over because I couldn't see the road. Very few songs have that kind of impact.
When it comes to your children, you would do anything to protect them from harm.Cancer you cant' protect them from and it's devastating! Ths song tore at my guts. Thank you for your sweet honest reaction!
Thank you SO much for your raw and honest reaction.
