- My C4 Corvette has been around since this channel's beginning. Over the last 4 years, I've talked about it on and off. But now, something's really happening. It's going down to the creator of arguably the best C4 corvette build I've ever seen on TH-cam. With a budget of $5-$10k (knowing it'll probably turn into $20k), lets see what we can do! Hey jimbo, check the calipers themselves. On c4s they are mounted with pins, and the actual brake pad holds the caliper in place. If the backing on the brake pad breaks, the caliper gets loose. Id also check the pins to see if they are worn out. Happened to my brother, hit a pothole, broke the backing on the brake pad, caliper got loose and gouged his rim on the inside.👍
I'd love to see a supercharger maybe a small spray a of nos the motor can handle it
And also a full suspension setup would be clean keep it stock looking but corner like a beast
The C4 has fallen from grace not because it was bad,it's because all the successors were so much more improved that everybody forgot that this was the Vette that was the big break-thru car with everything! It re-wrote the handling standards and it's top speed was incredible because of superior aerodynamics!

Beautiful car I wish I had 10 grand or more to put in my c-4 but too broke.
As time goes by the C4 becomes my favorite body style. Glad more people are getting these and restoring and building them .
its to bad people are noticing this. cuz they are going up in price
C4s look badass fast even when they’re sitting still. It’s also the only Corvette with the clamshell hood on it too, which makes everything much more accessible.
I was such a fan of the aggressive muscular look of the C3 (especially the last three years where they fixed the weak chin) style that the C4 looked boring and toned-down to me by comparison. I loved the 1989 Batman movie's Batmobile which the C3 resembles to me. But the C4's sleek and technological look has grown on me

I love C4 and C5 corvettes. I have pushed my C4 to 586 RWHP and my C5 to 719 RWHP. The C4 needed both a supercharger at 12 psi and NOS. The C5 uses a forged LS 347 with a D1x supercharge at 18 lbs. Both dependable and have AC. You will need at least a hellcat to mess with the C4. The C5 roasts pretty much anything . I have been beaten by a Tesla at Bristol motor speedway street fights though in the C5 recently.
Finally got my 90 ZR1 Corvette.its a ripper still for 33 years old 😊
Awesome to see you working on your C4!!! I am also a Marylander who owns a 96 C4. I didn't find your channel until a little after I bought my car a few years ago, but my story is similar. Bought it when I was 17 and it was just a dream come true. Now 19, at Montgomery College I drive by the same red C4 you mentioned in one of your older videos all the time. Makes me chuckle each time I see it. My C4 is a Black LT1 car. Low miles for its age with around 20k. Mine is totally stock and I love the look of it and the performance for what it is. However I would love to see a C4 similar to mine(yours) look fairly clean so to speak, but have that outrageous exhaust and tons of power vs stock. You obviously have an awesome plan for the mechanical rebuild with the CAM, heads, and exhaust. My only desire would be for you to make the car look clean. IMO the best cars are those who show themselves through how they drive and are just clean and fresh looking on the outside. Let the engine do the talking. Stuff like the interior being stock in it appearance and the exterior being nice and fresh give me that vibe (I have a connection that can get rid of that sticky rubber paint on the interior trim if you are interested). 5 spoke wheels would be awesome though. Obviously this is your car and do as you please. Just have fun with it and enjoy it for what it was meant for originally. That car that could put a smile on your face. I love the channel and am excited to see what you do with the C4.

Thanks for the update Jimbo! Absolutely love the C4! Seeing your past videos, I was always so sad to see the C4 get neglected, especially from that shop that did all the shitty work (I make wire harnesses for a living and seeing that travesty of an MSD box hurts me greatly). You had such a clean example, so I'm particularly excited and satisfied to see the C4 get the love it deserves and have a new chapter in its life.
Love these LT1 cars, despite all their quirks. My girlfriend has a 94 Trans am with Lloyd Elliot LT4 heads and cam, 4.10 gears etc and even though the opti has been an issue I still love that car because its just unique.

I had a 1993 Nissan Altima GLE that I bought for $100, used it as my daily driver for years! I loved the heads up display, leather and sunroof in a 4 door economy car! Love that you are keeping it!

Since they come with the LT1, I'd start with the lt4 package. Heads cam intake and larger throttle body. And those old lt1's do love nitrous. Or even go with like a centrifugal supercharger coupled with the lt4 package. She'd be mean then

Wish I knew how to do fiber glass work!! Have a 1990 L98. Over the years ended up being my favorite car and body style. Nothing beats the way these cars feel on the road.

Get the torqhead optispark replacement allows you to run ls coils and a ls pcm i had a 92 c4 corvette and i wanted that but they only work on the 94-96 cars id love to see what it can do since in the future i plan to buy another c4 corvette looking for a 96 manual to 383 stroke and procharge

I’m TELLING you. You HAVE to send your six speed off to Bill Bodreau, ZF-Doc. He is incredible and a genius behind these transmissions. He will explain why it’s better than any t56 or magnum, and for albeit a pretty penny he will build it to be capable of close to a thousand horsepower. He will get it shifting perfect and smooth. He will also get your clutch working perfectly, as the replacement valeo pressure plates suffer from planned obsolescence. I’m serious. It’s so damn worth it. I know for a fact my built transmission will roast anything out there.

I feature my C4s on my channel sometimes, 93 Z07 6 speeds. One of my favorite upgrades is my Momo steering wheel! Id also consider replacing all worn suspension bushings. If youre looking for more power, I saw the heads/cam comments and concur. Handling and driving experience are that cars greatest asset, id maximize that!
Dude I remember seeing a vid about your Corvette a couple years ago. This is fantastic.
Build a forged bottom 5.3 LS. Punch it out to a 5.7. Get some heads and a big cam and long tube headers Add a nice nitrous system and hit it with a big shot of nitrous. Get some C6 ZR1 or C7 Z51 wheels . I think that would make a great daily driver that’s economical and really fast. Then line it up with street speed 717’s C7 ZR1.

Tbh I doubt that MSD box fried the optispark. The optispark is just notoriously unreliable.

Original red paint, wheels I would do a 10 spoke style with deeper offset spokes in the rear, centered quad tip exhaust (with the setup that youre going for), blacked out rear tails, new headlights (I love the flip but those always eventually cause issues), as for the motor, Jimbo you know what youre doing with it so whatever you do is great
That C4 did sound awesome! I love the sound of my LT-5 but I've always wondered if it could be a higher pitch. Sounds more exotic that way. Maybe if Josh isn't busy after your car he could take a look at mine.....? I'm on Ocala FL

Dream engine build! Fikse 5-spokes would be great, but any 5-spoke CONVEX wheels look amazing on that. Not that many available tho. And torq thrusts are cool on c4s imo! I think It needs to sit a little lower aswell. Very exciting build, I’d love to head/cam/headers my LT1 to similar specs.

You live in Maryland, and you haven't seen any of the awesome Callaway C4s that are in that state? There is a heap of them there, a Speedster, a Twin Turbo ZR-1, a heap of B2Ks, a couple CR-1s...
The caliper moving is posibly just the anti rattle springs missing.

Jimbo, I have a 93 Vette that has been sitting in the garage for the last 6 years. The electric fan went out, overheated, radiator and water pump blew, and the head gaskets. I'm starting the planning of getting it back in shape. I was planning on starting with new heads, replacing the radiator, water pump, fuel pump lines and tank, plugs/wires... Basically I could use a starting point and was hoping to get this part list you mention? Also if you might have any knowledge or foresight of shit I might run into with this car having sat for 6 years?

Build the bottom end, yeah they can hold that power, but better bearings, rods, and pistons will definitely help with longevity. Just one of those things, if your in there do it right! Can’t wait to see the finished build

The caliper scraping the wheel is probably because one of the two caliper bolts backed out. I could see nothing else causing that
I've dropped $16,000 into my C4. BluePrint racing engine, PA racing trans, and now a full exterior paint job. Too much other stuff. Bought her new 37 years ago. It was time for a facelift!
😂😂😂 … I’ve had a few of the Gen 1 Nissan Altima cars and I loved them both! One was a high miler beater I bought because I thought it would last a month and a year later I flipped it for a profit! 😂😂😂 the AC worked perfectly! The second was a low miler I cleaned up and enjoyed that too! I always keep an eye out for the SE … rare and such a hoot! … I also am toying with a white 1995 Base C4 bone stock original Corvette … my first one! Extremely underrated! Found it at a tow yard 😁 … enjoyed your rambling video - wasn’t what I expected 🤷🏼♂️ but fun none the less. I subscribed 🫣 Question - Do you still have all your original Hot Wheels you accumulated growing up? My guess is yes!
Full suspension would definitely make a difference, probably would make it really nice to drive and some seats and a steering wheel. Shifter too, make driving it much more enjoyable 👌🏼
The suspension is not a major weakness of the C4 (nor really any other 'Vettes). Dramatically changing the suspension isn't going to improve it (and switching to coil-overs comes with reams of headaches for reinforcement of the body).
Now, you can upgrade individual suspension components, especially if you had the base suspension to begin with... However the drive and handling could be most improved by doing everything possible to address chassis flex (which is considerable on them).
On top of this, recall that in the 1980s/1990s, using tires from the 1980s/1990s, these cars were able to generate 0.9 Gs of lateral grip on the skidpad. Tire technology has seriously improved since then. If you place modern high performance tires on a C4, it easily, quickly crosses the 1.0 Gs threshold.
C4's already drive like they are on rails and messing with the steering wheel loses the air bag.
Trust me Jimbo needs air bags.

Put a nice exhaust and a cold air intake.Rebuild the engine with a great cam and heads.Not too much work but it will definitely cost you over $10,000.The new wheels will make it look great 👍🏽
I’ve rebuilt the engine and trans, with full exhaust and headers on my c4 for well below 10… he can probably get new heads too

I had the same issue with the caliper, and the issue was the pins that hold the caliper in place.
I have a 90 corvette and saving the funds to have the motor and transmission pulled, motor bored 30 over, install some sort of nasty cam and heads, headers, reinstall motor, replace x-pipe and straight pipes all the way back.
That will cost me $20,000.00.
Half of that is just to yank and reinstall the motor and transmission!
Part of the hardship of living on Maui.
It's impossible just to find someone with the knowhow to work on it..

Theres a company i just found that will custom drill their wheels for like an extra 100 bucks. They are called ESR and they have a set that looks identical to the fikse wheels. THey are like 365 a wheel even with a custom drill for our bolt pattern
