One year after leaving my full time job as a chef. I now have my first interview as a junior web developer. Thank you for your dedication on this channel. It has been a fantastic insite into the industry for me.
@cool11quiet Didn't do it for the money. While yes, software development will bring in more money. I had a child two years ago. Working nights, 70+ hours a week, weekends, and all holidays is not the life I want for my child.i still want a creative industry to work in, and this feels like home.
I'm so inspired by I Love Engineering! As an engineer myself, it's amazing to see the incredible work and dedication that goes into everything related to the engineering field. I'm especially thrilled to have a resource like this that gives people of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to explore engineering topics. The interactive activities, studies, resources, and interviews are so valuable and really bring the profession to life. I've already learned a lot from just browsing the content and I'm looking forward to see what else this platform has to offer. Keep up the good work!
I am a Student from Ghana and I have always enjoyed watching your videos because when I am mentally down and feel like given up, your messages in your videos give me some form of fuel that pushes me to be on fire🔥. I really want to become a better software engineer and I think your advices are putting me on course. I want to use this opportunity to say thank you ❤

Thank for the video and sharing lot of knowledge in organizing and productivity. How do you keep up with the energy required for doing all the tasks. Can you share tips to sustain long term. Thanks!
@@subhamtripathi4514 Glad it's working! Could be an issue with bit.ly redirection. And thank you! On hindsight, probably should have split this into multiple videos, maybe it ended up being too dense. A lot of folks seem to have some confusion around how to properly execute this. Obviously, since I have been doing this for well over a decade, mine is probably a more extreme example. Probably should have toned it down a bit so it didn't appear too overwhelming. Well, you live and you learn :) Cheers!
If we're gonna be effective, we should integrate work email accounts and personal accounts into the system. Wondering how would that be possible without breaking any NDA. Do you integrate work and personal email accounts into akiflow?
Nice video, Utsav. I have been looking for a new direction for keeping on task, and I am going to give this method a shot for the month of May and see how it works for me. I am curious what (if any) software you use for separate task lists, and if it pulls in to Akiflow well, or if you do task creation from directly within aki. My business uses the Google Workspace suite of stuff, and part of our workflow is Google Tasks, which allows us to assign tasks to other people (or be assigned to us, by others). Unfortunately Akiflow doesn't sync this natively.
Hey Utsav it’s hard for me to stay on schedule with time blocking and execute each block. Also having a schedule everyday is tiring. How do you prevent burn out? Booking every time seems relentless. Maybe I need to be more specific with the tasks and stick to the blocks more.
One way to make the calendar less daunting is to schedule your downtime as well. So that you don’t associate only “work” with your calendar. Time to relax, watch movies, socialize, play video games should also be in your calendar so it’s just a guide for your day, not a taxing entity that will stress you out.
Thanks a lot, and one more question if possible - I always struggle with the "completeness" of a task if it's an event on a calendar rather than a todo item. For example I have 5 things to do for today. I can see it in the morning when I check my schedule. In some hours I can see that only 3 things left. That will help me to a) get immediate satisfaction after crossing out the completed task and b)keep the track. If for some reason I will miss 1 thing - it will be automatically displayed in my tomorrow list with an 'overdue' mark. When I tried timeslots approach it was not obvious for my mind if I completed this task or not. I understand that the idea is that you estimate it correctly, start it when you planned and finish when planned. But sometimes it doesn't happen and I missed the task and I had to keep it in memory or immediately update my schedule. Which complicated things a lot. Any advise for such situation?
This is exactly what Akiflow is helping you do. Turning your events into tasks that you need to cross off. If not, it will be in your daily shutdown or next days review. I def recommend trying them out. It’s free to try. And see how it works for you.
Hi. Great video but I don’t get the idea of flexible tasks. That’s why I still have them as separate tasks instead of calendar slot. So let say you have a small errand that you have to do today before noon but it doesn’t matter when. In your example you dedicated full 2h for the task but what if the task is only 30min. Will you have 1.5h free? Or once it’s done you could shrink it up to 0.5h and fill up the free 1.5 that you have right now?
I don’t think we need to do all of that. It is not worth it to break your heads to get the best out of everything you do. It is OKAY to not doing some things in life. Life isn’t a rat race
I'm software developer in one of the top MNC but my manager is always behind me. He gave me least raise despite being top performer in team. This pisses me off. How to get out of this vicious cycle
Depends on whether the “reward” triggers dopamine or serotonin. If your reward after working out is 4 pints of beer, then it’s probably not a good idea to form that system. But if you set your workouts right before a fun event like watching a concert from a band you love, it can be a great reinforcement. The detail is in the subtleties.
@Engineering with Utsav used to love your channel but you know what , I’m so tired of the expansive prices of your merchs specially the crap quality of it !
I find all this life-work scheduling unrealistic as it places an enormous burden on you to stick to it. Life is not like that, for example you got take titan out for a walk 6.30 am then the next task is at 7am, how ???? You have to feed the dog, clean the dog after a walk if it does a poopsy etc you also have a 2 1/2 hour block for swimming - really ? Let’s say the pool is 20 min drive, that’s 40 mins travel, then you change and get into the pool - 20 mins say, 1 hours gone, after you swim you have shower, dry your hair and change your clothes 30 mins, that leaves no time to swim … then the next task - doesn’t make sense, doesn’t work.
You are making a lot of assumptions here… clearly the system overwhelms you. It’s not for everyone. Been doing this for more than a decade and my dog’s “poopsie” has never disrupted my schedule. It works perfectly fine. Also, change clothes for 30 minutes? Is this Hollywood? That’s 182.5 hours a year just to change clothes. If you make 250 dollars and hour, you’ve wasted almost 50k a year just on changing the damn clothes. That’s nuts.
@@EngineeringwithUtsav I didn’t mean to trigger you. I was just highlighting the fact that life is not cut and dry that it can neatly fit into time blocks on a calendar, but if it works for you, that’s great, good for you. I didn’t know you would be offended so easily (perhaps schedule in some anger management sessions). Perhaps you should put out a disclaimer : “Cannot take opinions which do not align with my own”

The science on rewards is not settled. Using rewards can backfire by overwhelming you into addiction making everything a slog
