Id like to preface by saying i have a great deal of respect and admiration for you. That being said, I have a genuine question for you, Karl.
Why is it that Dream's speedrun was ultimately denied? As a lifelong gamer myself, I have seen some ridiculous RNG shenanigans, including several literal 1-in-a-million chances happening in a row. That's both the beauty and horror of RNG; sometimes you have the worst possible outcomes, and sometimes you never even know it was supposed to be difficult.

tbh all I know at this point about minecraft speedrunning is that some runs can even depend on an unfair amount of luck...

@@coronelkittycannon as portals are TileEntities, they tick themselfs, so no. If you somehow are in that spot, place a block next to a portal to guve it a chunk update, so they do their routine again.

Maybe instead of trying to get enough pearls, you rush for 2-3, and try to see if you can get a portal that's full, or almost full. This strat is really luck based though, but can get you a stupidly short time

One in a trillion? There is actually a minecraft seed (-4530634556500121041) that spawns you in a village and literally right next to the village is a ruined portal and a pirate ship. A chest in the pirate ship has a flint and steel in it. The ruined portal is almost complete and only needs a few more obsidian blocks to complete it. Conveniently there is a blacksmith in the village with a chest that contains 16 obsidian . Also conveniently next to the ruined portal there is a chest which contains a fire charge. This chest also contains iron and flint which makes going into the pirate ship useless for a speedrun. Once inside the nether there is a nether fortress not too far away. But fortunately there is a massive warped forest biome right next to the nether fortress which allows for quick ender pearls if the player is lucky with the drops. But surprisingly this is all a waste of time as the nether portal already has all 12 eyes naturally filled in. This means the player can skip the collection of ender pearls and blaze rods and just go straight to the stronghold from their exit portal. I can't find the exact coordinates for the placement of the exit nether portal but it is really close to where the player enters the nether. If they make their exit portal in the right spot they will spawn inside the stronghold diagonally above the portal room. The chances of winning the lottery are 1 in 292.2 million and just the chances of the ender portal being naturally filled in alone are 1 in 1 trillion. Whoever found this seed for the first time had a better chance of winning the lottery five times in a row than finding this seed. And that's just counting the ender portal being filled in and not everything else.

You have a higher chance of getting the perfect speedrunning seed than getting Dream’s blaze rod/ender pearl luck.

@David Alexander nobody said that dream made people hate speedrun. Dream cheating just creates a layer of unnecessary suspicion on every Minecraft speed runner from here on out has to deal with. It’s not helped that it got so much attention and he has such a huge follower count which blew the situation up way more

@David Alexander Dream *was* a legitimate speed runner. The _instant_ he cheated now EVERY (good) run of his will be treated with skepticism and doubt. When even a good player resorts to cheating it negatively impacts the entire community as it creates a shadow over the community. i.e. _If one of "good guys" was cheating who else might be cheating that we are currently not aware of?_
The best interest of the community for long term survival is in everyone being as honest as possible. Once doubt begins to creep in it slowly fractures the community.

Nowhere in this discussion was anyone talking about people who wanted bad things for dream mentioned till you brought it up.
What's crazy to me is some people might have had "god seeeds" before but threw it / choked and ruined the run.
Or were 9 y olds and just ran around looking for a horse to tame for 20 hours

@@vyor8837 he modified his game to get unreasonably lucky for the last 6 speedrunning streams. Got "wr pace", but failed it in the end, but still got a pb, that he did submit, and there were ppl sus of the luck in the streams that launched investigation, and mods had to write a multi-page paper trying to not be overly harsh and that reduced the chance of the luck from a 1 in few sextillions of just him getting the luck into 1 in 7.5 trillions that anyone could get it, while accounting for reasonable issues with bias

I'm still amazed at how much Karl researches every single game, and their run strats, before making each video. That shows dedication and passion for speedrunning.
I mean technically the fastest one would be finding the stronghold in the ocean as close to spawn as possible, and then digging right into the portal room and it has all 12 eyes filled. It’s TECHNICALLY possible but it would be crazy lucky.

@@ej-jz5rc Don't have to be a Dream stan to think it's kinda bullshit that they disqualified a speedrun with exactly zero actual evidence of wrongdoing. All there is (that I've seen) is a dozen odd videos talking about how unlikely his runs are. Nothing that he did is impossible, just improbable. If they can't even show actual proof that the game was tampered with... well. Put up or shut up, frankly. Unlikely things happen every single fucking day. No amount of "this is so unlikely, here's how unlikely this is, isn't it just SOOO unlikely?!" is actually providing evidence of tampering. Prove he did something impossible during normal play or prove he altered the game in a way that breaks the rules. Otherwise fuck off. If someone bought three lotto tickets and won with all three of them, you'd be right to be skeptical. But you'd also have to prove that he cheated or falsified the winning numbers somehow, not just scream out into the void how it's not a probable outcome. Can't prove it? Tough shit.

The issue isn’t that he got really lucky; it’s that he consistently got really lucky over a long stretch of time, which is why the probability found by the statisticians was so low.

Instructions on how to get Minecraft RSG 1.16 world record in under 5 minutes.
Step 1: Click "generate new world"
Step 2: Have dream luck...
Step 3: Get a seed that players use for set seed that way it still counts as random seed.
Step 4: TIME TO THROW POGCHAMP
I set my render distance to 64 chunks and i can still not find who asked.

the seed used for ssg currently cant actually generate naturally. you have to imput the seed manually to generate it

Actually started tuning in on MC speedruns and by proxy actually playing minecraft after 7 or 8 years thanks to your previous video. Love your stuff and hope to see more
this one seed I played had a fortress so big it spanned over 8 different biomes, was incredibly tall, and led into a bastion. I've never seen anything bigger than that, it had like three blaze spawners
Dream doing the speedrun, winning 82 lotteries, getting struck by lightning 50 times then finishing with a fallen satellite on his head. he was a really lucky guy
BTW the fastest random seed run is by m8use with a time less than 14 mins. However it's on Bedrock but still it is the fastest Minecraft Speedrun..

Never even knew about minecraft speedruns before, but they seem very intricate. Also, even though runners might not like the luck factor as much, it probably makes it a very good speedrunning game to stream, as it's always exciting for the casual viewers.

Its really amazing to see how far minecraft has come. I remember playing the Java version in middle school...back when you couldn’t even beat Minecraft, back when “Classic” Minecraft was the only Minecraft. I don’t really play or even follow Minecraft any more but seeing the progress a couple times a year over the years has been incredible
All these people talking about Karl throwing shade at Dream in this video, but honestly I personally just find it hilarious that Dream decided to cheat and make the chances of the old strategy working higher, instead of finding a new one that was more consistent like the _real_ speedrunners did here. Talk about a lack of flexibility
@@jeremy5434 From the little I've observed, his fans are moreso fatigued and tired from all the drama. They seemed to just be confused about who to believe and decided to drop the issue altogether because they simply don't care. They weren't following him for his legit Minecraft speedrun records, so why bother?
@@detrilogue3174 a good point actually, Dream is famous for his Manhunt series, fucking around with weird scenarios with his friends and doing Unsolved Mysteries, speed running is essentially just a side project out of personal interest on his part.
In the recent controversy I checked Dreams channel and I must admit, the man and his buddies together have a talent for creating good tension and intrigue around a pretty basic premise. I don't blame anyone for enjoying it.
@@tkaine7983 I personally have stayed away from every one of his channels since this whole thing broke out. I watch a lot of speedruns and have a lot of respect for the practice, so seeing someone cheat at it and lie and manipulate the emotions of his fanbase to cover his own trail doesn't sit right with me. I *tried* watching his most recent Manhunt, but that lingering mistrust kind of ate away at my enjoyment of the video. I don't know if the video itself was less enjoyable than his other ones or if I'm just more hesitant to support anything Dream does.

Hey Karl Just wanted to say that on bedrock strongholds always spawn beneath a village that means that if you dig beneath a village there is like a 1 in 15 chance you find the stronghold this means a 12 eye random seed speedrun is possible using the advantage of 12 eyes
Tbh, RNG in speedruns is just absolute cancer. At least when it's this kind. I can accept the type of RNG that's typical in roguelikes and such, assuming ofc that there's not an ultra-OP path that is speedrun viable and everything else is a failed run, but the kinda RNG where it's "you need to try this 1000 times to get the exact combo you need, and you need luck in two other arenas as well" can just go die in a fire. And it's a horrible viewing experience as well. We want to see skill, not luck.

I love that you did all of this research on minecraft speedrunning so your dream analysis could be accurate. But then got so interested in it that you made these great minecraft speedrunning videos
My kids play Minecraft constantly, I've never got it. That said, I've thoroughly enjoyed the videos about the speedrunning aspect of it. Always interesting to hear how those at the top of any competition see it, and what they strive for.

I'm so glad Ive gotten into watching speedrunning content. All started when I saw Hollow Knight and Minecraft speedruns - I remember thinking "jeez, these people got mad skill, i could never do that". the people i've interacted with here have been super nice and insightful when i have questions! I love hearing about the detaisl, skills, and persistence that goes into these runs. thank you for making such great content, its really sparked my interest for speedrunning and video games in general B)

Realistically the fastest random seed would be that of the set seed. I know we're talking crazy but realistically if you just got THAT lucky than yeah its possible. Knowing exactly where to place the portal and stuff yeah its nuts but we're talking fastest possible.

Man, I love that you use the ME soundtrack. It's so soothing music. A little distracting when the nostalgia hits, but you have a compelling narration so it's not really an issue.
