    • @Groundeffected
      @Groundeffected  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks he freckles on this one is a natural byproduct of the textures in this sculpt. The darker shadows being sprayed from the bottom and lighter ones on the top helped to emphasise that. Usually I do the freckling at about 3/4 of the way through the skins before the glaze phase and I use that Gilliman flesh contrast to make them.

    I wouldn't paint the eyeballs straight white. The white part of the eye (sclera) is usually dull instead of a bright white, so I'd maybe mix in a little pink or light blue.

    • @Groundeffected
      @Groundeffected  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure. It’s not white though. It’s more of a parchment colour and I paint grey blue into the corners to shape the eye then a pink line at the base of it.

    • @Groundeffected

      The thing is that number will be different for everyone. It’s dependent on the thickness of your paint and the airbrush you use. 1 psi too low and it can spit paint and then people will be blaming us for giving false information.

    Do you use this same tecnique when painting shirtless bodies? and also, how did you get those little freckles of pink color to make the skin look more "alive" ? and again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing these tips, quite grateful for you!

    • @Groundeffected
      @Groundeffected  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes exact same process for all skin, well at least for this method. It’s a pretty easy way to get decent results. The freckles or skin pores are actually sculpted on this print. And they are just a by product of painting the grimoire purple from the bottom it put a little bit in each one because of the angle. You can do this by turning down your airbrush till it’s a bit spitty and get a similar result.

  • @patchtechuk
    @patchtechuk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, forgive my ignorance, I'm a complete beginner who has never picked up a brush before. What is the purpose of using a base brown paint on the eyes? is it to dull down the white? and if so why wouldn't you add a tiny amount of brown to the white paint to get the desired colour and effect. Again sorry for the silly questions but what I know about painting you could write on the back of a stamp! :) great video by the way. You gained another subscriber!

    • @Groundeffected
      @Groundeffected  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No that dark brown is the outer edge of the eye which shapes the feature. You leave a small amount that colour around the edge of the white.

    This is really great. I have an airbrush that just clogs repeatedly so I'm stuck at step one. :(

    • @Groundeffected
      @Groundeffected  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Urgh that’s the worst. I’d take it completely apart and soak it in airbrush cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. (Iso can ruin your orings overtime so be aware of that) and give it a good clean. It’s possible you aren’t pushing enough air and also more likely your paint isn’t thin enough to go through the nozzle. Some model paints just won’t go through smaller nozzles at all even thinned they behave like they got an attitude problem. But I’d say just start by thoroughly cleaning the airbrush and working on the paint mix and air ratio

      @@Groundeffected Thanks for the reply. I'll give that a try. If you have time for another question, is there an airbrush you would recommend? (Not looking for cheap, looking for good.) I already have a compressor, just want a decent unit. Thx.

    Are contrast paints basically inks? Cheers

    • @Groundeffected
      @Groundeffected  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They’re not like inks. Some of them can behave similar but I’d say they’re more like watered down acrylics. Some colours are super strong and others are more like tints. They’re so different to each other too. So you’ll have to experiment with them to find out what you like them for.

    i think the eyes are too white. sideshow collectibles use off-white for the eyeballs

      Fair enough. I’m not sideshow though.. I don’t try to copy sideshows painting style either I mean I could take it all the way and paint tear ducts and lower eyelashes etc but most people can’t do that and I’m trying to help people to be able to paint semi decent models for themselves.

      Yeah way too white. It's the same amount of work to paint off white as pure white
