  • What a fantastic week we have had weather wise. As it was far too hot to be standing on steel bridges during the day for any length of time I decided to go out in the slightly cooler evenings with my good friend and bodyguard Trackside ECML / @tracksideecml4464 . Our intention was to do some low light video to see how far we could push the camera settings to get any sort of result. Some clips came out reasonable, some were terrible and the majority went in the bin! We came to the conclusion that more practice is needed. All the clips are taken from Cock Lane footbridge, a rather inhospitable place after dark with no lighting.

Another really good video Mike, I get envious of the variety you see at Werrington.

Thank you Peter. We do get quite a variety throughout the day, most of them early morning and late evening so it is not quite so good during the winter months when there is less daylight hours to video. Roll on summer I say.😀

I liked your video! The low light is really a big problem for me too! Have a good evening, my friend! ❤

Thank you for watching. I am still learning with low light, so far my conclusions are shutter speed the same as the frame rate, aperature wide open and keep fiddling with the ISO to keep that as low as possible, actually lower than the camera wants to set it, that way it keeps the graininess at bay. You can give individual clips a bit of extra exposure in software post processing before rendering them to bring out a bit more detail, although I did not do any like that in this video.

@@CRVideos0877 Forgot to say, I'm using a DSLR camera on manual mode. Keep practicing.👍

I realized that you use a camera. I shoot with a DJI Pocket 2, i am satisfied with it for what I shoot. I took a video with a camera but I was not satisfied with the focus. In any case, the footage on the camera is very good! I will have to practice.

@@CRVideos0877 I have had a look at your channel. I could cry seeing all the beautiful scenery. You are doing some superb video. My camera does not do 4K and I have not got a 4K monitor, although viewing your video at 1080p it is definitely sharper than video produced at 1080p. I think it will be an expensive upgrade for me at my time of life to go 4K, camera, monitor, computer, better software, oooooh, where does it end.😭😭😭. I have subscribed to your channel, keep those wonderful video clips coming.😁

Great video Mick. Apologies its taken a while for me to comment. New job keeping me busy. As such I haven't released a video for a weeks. All the best. Ben

Thank you Ben. Always a lot to learn with a new job, new people and unfamiliar surroundings to get used to, then you will get into a routine and start to relax a bit. I hope it is all going well for you so far.

If you think that it was busy at about 8pm on the 5th Modern Railways reported that once the Ely "enhancement' is completed the passing capacity there will increase from 6.5 trains per hour to 10 trains p.h. so you will have to hop about a bit. Trains passing in a failing light was a welcome variation. How much more inviting the carriages with old fashioned lighting ( and 91s) looked compared with the cold illumination in the EMUs.What (yellow) machinery remains parked next to the line and for what purpose, please? Blimey, I'm hopping about now and running is definitely not an option.😄 Quite pleased with the low light shots considering the limitations of the camera. I certainly agree with you regarding the carraige lighting. I expect it is the angle of, and the darker tinting of the windows on the Hitachi's that makes them look less inviting. Not sure what is going on with all that yellow plant. They are all cherry pickers for doing the OHEL apart from the railbus. There was some old transformers and insulators laying around a couple of weeks ago, then a lowloader came and took three of the cherry pickers over to the other side of the bridge for a weekend, now they are back again. I can only assume there is some work being done on the wires either during the night or weekend, but I have not seen any line possessions for work to be done or visual evidence when I've been about. Another thing is that unusually, three of those pickers are being stored outside the railway boundary which leaves them rather open to abuse. There was a chap there on Wednesday servicing them, you can hear one running when the Colas 43's went by.

Your extended response is v. much appreciated . The farce of seeking net zero received another dose of reality according to RAIL Class 90s locos of DB Cargo put into store at Crewe in July and 66s replaced them as electricity has become too expensive. Good job the London mayor does not see 66's exhaust or he would have a fit.Perhaps rail traction is exempt.

@@tomcarr1358 Those 66's coning out of Werrington Junction are usually like that because they have been idling at the stop signal for quite a while having arrived early. Most of the time they could be let out on the Up Slow to go into the yards without hindering other traffic but the signallers like good time keeping.😀
