  • This is a full flight narrated video of a trip from Salt Lake City to JFK in the Delta ONE Cabin on a 767-400ER. I thoroughly enjoyed my premium experience and having strategically chosen a set on the left side of the aircraft, I was awarded a great view of Manhattan at night!

    I really love the narration it's really up my alley with my obsession with flying. I always plan which side of the plane to sit on so I can see my hometown when flying home to the Philippines. I will never sit in the middle aisle. I always have to sit by the window and take in everything with gleeful delight. Thank you for putting so much thought into your videos.

    The last time I flew on a 767 it was a 300 (standard, not ER) back in 2004. Although I flew on a number of 200 and 300 series 67's during the 80's and 90's I am UK based and the trans - continental charter routes that used these aircraft (as well as the 757 - 200 - arguably my favourite Boeing) now rely on NG 737's, usually 800's. I think I have watched all your videos in one day Mr Masella and could fly the LENDY approach into JFK blindfold now.....

    I don't know why I'm so petrified to fly but one time that I did, when I was waking into the airport and I heard a jet rev up its engines, I started trembling with anxiety and fear. My brother on the other hand, he loved flying. My brother was an instructor. Go figure.

    Hi Pete, I will admit that when started to watch your videos i found the commentary but your commentary is extremely informative, eloquent & entertaining. You have a great voice for these videos. I an imagine you have a zillion frequent flyers. I was surprised just how basic the Delta One food is for a first class seat. Is there a reason for this. I am in Australia & Qantas has superb restaurant quality food & free alcohol. Is there any A380's in the United States? Have you done a A380 video. Thank you for these wonderful videos, they must take a long time to edit & produce. Greetings from your friends in Australia!

    • @PeterMasella
      @PeterMasella  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much. The first class food is normally more elaborate but it has been minimized to reduce touch points during the pandemic. No US carriers fly the A380. I know Emirates does fly it to JFK (I was on one years ago).

    Apparently...I somehow MISSED this video a while back...but found it after watching your latest JFK video. For my flight from Seattle to JFK next summer, I did choose a seat on the left...but have no idea what the actual approach will be so far in advance! One question--when were you at SLC in this video? I'm thinking about flying there next year, too, so wonder how much farther along the construction will be.... Thanks!

    • @PeterMasella
      @PeterMasella  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally flights from the west coast will fly on the LENDY arrival procedure to JFK. But you won’t know which runway you’ll land on until much closer to the flight itself. This was filmed in September.

  • @markwatson4238
    @markwatson4238 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Peter, if you don't mind me asking, how do you find out prior to travel what route into JFK the flight will be taking?

    • @PeterMasella
      @PeterMasella  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Almost all flights from SLC to JFK fly the LENDY arrival unless there is a need to take a different route due to weather. This Is true for most flights from the west.

  • @evantorch6122
    @evantorch6122 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Peter,
    How does one access the ATC archive?
    ( I assume that you go back and loop in the narration of the communication between ATC and the pilots of this flight?).
    I can’t decide whether you are / were a controller or a pilot: you are an excellent geographer for certain!!

    • @PeterMasella
      @PeterMasella  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not a pilot or controller and I do go back and match up the timings for the ATC archive.

  • @drahnier63
    @drahnier63 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    how do you know which arrial route will be in effect at the time of arrival ahead of time? Especially when booking the flight in advance?

    • @PeterMasella
      @PeterMasella  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing is certain, especially when booking in advance. I suggest looking for the flight plan for your flight online within 24 hours of departure so you can determine the arrival procedure you will use that day. But in general all flights will follow similar routes daily. For example, almost all flights from the west will use the LENDY6 arrival to JFK. But if weather is in the way, another route could be used.

    I just recently flew into JFK from the west on a redeye but I don't think we took the LENDY approach. We flew over the Tappen Zee Bride and turned south towards JFK somewhere over LaGuardia. Then we went over the ocean and came around to land onto 4L. I sat on the left side of the plane but unfortunately the NYC skyline was on the other side. At least I had a great view of San Diego taking off.

    • @PeterMasella
      @PeterMasella  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When 4L is in use, LENDY arrivals will fly over LGA, then make a right turn to the final approach course.
