      This is my method as well, and it’s works! I spend a little extra time making sure all my clothes are flat and wrinkle-free before I fold and roll. So, I don’t have any problems with wrinkles! I also leave the non-hanging clothes in the cubes and place the whole thing in the available drawers...keeps my things from touching the drawers.

    Fold on the way there: prevents wrinkles and over packing. Roll on the return trip: no more wrinkle worries plus now you’ve made space for any purchases.

    As a flight attendant, who can only take a carry on, the amount of stuff is unrealistic. I have to pack for roughly 6 days and do so with ease. I roll my clothes and use packing cubes.

    • @Coopogers
      @Coopogers 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I was JUST about to say this! Combine the methods... I roll, attach a scrunchie AROUND the roll to ensure that it stays compact, then pack the rolls into my packing cubes for organization. Win win! And yes, I do pack my streamer to release the minor wrinkling I have. Worth it to me to be able to bring everything! 😉🛬

      well she said she was packing for a "weekend getaway" not six days. so the amount of stuff she packed was fine for a 2 and a half day trip

    • @Swakara1
      @Swakara1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I find that it's a lot of stuff for a weekend get away: some of that clothes can be worn when you are traveling, like the sweater, the flats and the shoulder bag. Wear the bulkiest clothes, weather permitting, to keep your bag light. You can build several looks over one basic pant and one skirt in neutral colors and you can dress this up of down with a couple of appropriate tops and accessories. You only need to pack one pair of shoes. ( the other one is worn)

    • @ItsMeHi116
      @ItsMeHi116 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, you may think that is too much clothes for a weekend getaway, compared to what YOU pack for your six days away, but you do wear a uniform for much of your trip.

      @@Swakara1 I traveled to Turkey in July during the heat waves, only with 1 pair of tennis shoes for long walk/hike, 1 pair of flip flop for shower, 1 pair of aqua shocks for the beach. It was nice to go barefoot for 3 days on a traditional wooden yacht, then just put on tennis shoes for short hike on the ruins.
      I thought I would buy new shoes during my travel but I didn't, so maybe 3 pairs are all I need for the beach vacation

    Packing cubes are a life saver!!! It’s so easy and I just toss it in drawers when on vacation and my clothes don’t touch the drawers. Plus your clothes stay fresh in humid countries and you don’t need to wash clean clothes when you get back - you just need to put your dirty clothes into other packing cubes for the way back!! ❤️❤️❤️

    For the people complaining about how the shoes were packed: Those shoes were brand new, but I know what you mean. Some people use shower caps from dollar stores or in bulk from beauty supply stores. I use plastic bags that I get from grocery shopping so I don't have to buy anything else.

    This was very helpful- thank you! I am currently on a 3-month trip in Europe and do a combination of things shown here (and my suitcase is only slightly bigger than the one in the segment!). I roll my clothes and put them into packing cubes. The packing cubes compress the clothes; this means I can pack A LOT into a small space and keep it organized. The best packing cubes I've found are by eBags. They're high quality and durable, so I can really push stuff in there if I need to without ripping the bag. All other brands I've tried have paled in comparison. The only downsides are, as you've mentioned, the wrinkles and the weight (it's 35 pounds).

    No one ever talks about the block method. At least thats what I call it. It's on the channel PackLitedotCom. Vid is called Pack for 30 days in a carry on. I've done it my last 5 (poss 6) times I've traveled internationally for between 7-10 days at a time. I have found is the BEST way to get the most packed into the suitcase and with the least rumpling/wrinkling. Only thing is you have to take it all out and hang up/put away when you arrive. But I did this before I discovered this method as I do not like living out of suitcases while vacationing.

    • @suzanneanderson582
      @suzanneanderson582 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree! I don’t know why they didn’t include this method - i can fit way more in my suitcase using this method - i think it is because it utilizes all of the space - there are no leftover nooks and crannies to stuff anything into. The only problem is the weight because you can pack so much more into the space.

  • @kacgifts

    I have found that most hotels have an iron/ironing board and a hairdryer, so never bring those items. I use the roll method and usually do not have an issue with wrinkles. Another trick is coordinating your color scheme. Mine was black and white when I packed in one carry on for 10 days in England a couple of years ago: 2 pairs of black jeans (wore one), 1 pair each of capris & dress slacks, a black skirt, black & white dress and several white, combination white/black tops. I wore my comfortable walking shoes, packed dressy flats, wore my jeans jacket and raincoat. I did ship some clothing back home to make room for purchases.

      I do rolling and cubes, she could have fit those 2 cubes into the one bigger cube to save space. I would never pack with hangers, all that wasted space. I also put my clothes and soft items on the other side than she did, with the handle grooves because you can fold smaller clothes items to fit in those grooves so you're not wasting that space either.

    I pack different items differently. Pjs, undies, socks, T-shirts, et al are all rolled and stuffed into cubes. Dresses & dress shirts are on hangers in a garment bag from eagle creek. Jeans, some skirts or similar items I put into a pak-it folding system from eagle creek. All shoes go in shoe bags.

  • @lauranieto1895
    @lauranieto1895 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I also love to use hangers to pack; however I put each outfit in a dry cleaner bag, which reduces wrinkling evern more. I use smaller cubes for undies, pjs, etc that I place in the first layer in the middle of the suitcase. Shoes in shower caps fit on the bottom of the first layer, and curling irons, dryers, electronics, and other "hard stuff" fit along the sides. This leaves plenty of room for the hanging clothes. This not only reduces wrinkling but saves a lot of time packing.

    I like to roll, but I have also hung all shirts together on one hanger and dresses on another hanger. Then put them in the suitcase on the hanger. It also saves space in the closet. Then roll pants and whatever doesn't wrinkle. Most my clothes doesn't wrinkle. I also bring antiwrinkle spray by downey. You could also make use of the space in your packed purses for underwear, toiletries, belts, etc.

    I use several rectangular packing cubes that can stack on their side in the roller (travel fashion girl designed cubes are specifically sized to do this). I use these cubes for my 1st layer (thermals, Ts, tanks) & underwear. Also for belts, scarves, beanies and gloves. I roll and stuff in the cubes taking advantage of the ability to compress.Then a bigger cube for folded mid layers like sweaters, sweatshirts, fleece jacket and pants/dresses. I pack one shoe option and wear the other on the plane (socks packed in shoes). I pack for a week in Seattle fall/winter in a 21” this way. For a weekend trip like the example you could do a tote instead of a 21” roller but it’s sometimes nice to have the wheels and extra room for purchases.

    I typically take 5-day trips, and I roll 5 individual outfits … skivvies and socks, then tees or shirts, then pants on the outside of the roll. That way, all I have to do is grab a roll and slip into my clothes for the day. I travel only with attire that can stand up the to wrinkles -- they don't appear, they disappear when I put the items on, or they just don't matter. I pack shoes in plastic newspaper sleeves, and always keep a plastic bag on hand to pack dirty clothes for the trip home. I get a LOT into my carry-on bag, and always need to call on someone stronger than I am to lift it into the overhead bin. Be sure to make a list of every single item you have packed, so you don't forget anything when packing for your return trip. Also, be sure to put your name an contact information inside, so if your luggage is lost, you can be tracked down. For safety and security reasons, you don't want your name and address visible to the rest of the world on the luggage tag.

    I have tried rolling, folding and laying flat. For certain clothing items the rolling seems to create too many wrinkles. So I mix up the packing technique and only roll what does not intensely wrinkle; like tshirts, shorts, jeans, cheap dresses and leisure wear. Rolling does not work well for all materials; especially if you are taking business attire. However, most hotels do carry irons you can use.

      True, I roll the majority of clothes but some large or bulkier items like jackets or sweaters are way too bulky when rolled, taking up more space. With those items I fold them as flat a possible and either put them on the very bottom (most sweaters) or lay on the very top (jacket) after everything is packed.

    I roll clothes and fit far more.....also 19 inch is the limit on some airlines so why risk having to pay to check your bag for 2 inches? Hangers? No, just will add to weight and less easily fit in when packing....creams and aerosols 3oz max and must be placed in the container on the belt separately in a baggie separately..so you must remove that from your carry on when going through the baggage check...remember when packing your overhead bag that you must be able to lift it and place it in the overhead yourself.....there isn't always a kind man around to ask for assistance...though I have been lucky on that score.....Happy flying...

      I was wondering the same! My makeup & toiletry bags take up space and weight. Unless I'm just taking a trip for a couple of days I prefer to pay for 1 small - med suitcase b/c those mini containers in my carry on are NOT going to hold enough skincare, toiletries and ACCESSORIES for a few weeks. Totally unrealistic if you're doing activities and going out to events/dinner in the evenings.

    One tip that I like is to wear something on travel day that you don't like or plan to donate. Then when you get to destination and it's ready for a change of clothes, just throw out what you wore. Leaves more room in a suitcase and you don't have to pack it when you return.

I'd be curious to know if there are other people from Europe here, if they have a similar experience or is it just me?

      @@truella1305 Washcloths aren't really the norm. I haven't heard about anyone using it here (I'm in Sweden). You do get small towels for your face but hey you could use it for your body. Why are washcloths used ? I mean you either scrub with a loofah or glove or you just wash your body with water and soap and that's it. Sometimes paper towels are omitted with washcloths for drying your bum after washing.

And with cloths I wear the most baggy cloths. And hangers? I don't know what kind of weekends she gets... but it's way to much. And use packing cubes you can take more stuff if you need to.
