  • Dr Musharraf Hussain introduces the basic beliefs of Islam and explores the belief (iman) with Dr Jon Hoover. This is the first in a series of videos examining Muslim belief in God, Angels, Books, Prophets, the Last Day and Predestination, particularly from a Sunni perspective, taking the creed of al-Nasafi and the Ash'ari and Maturidi theological traditions as references.

@@oussamakaat1. Well he isn't necessarily comparing. He's talking about how he smiles because he is a genuine Muslim and he knows God loves him as if he were a very precious friend (but we all know he's so much more), and it's about being and getting closer to God. when you know you are that's a great feeling, and it makes you smile!

Islam is not a new religion it basically means submit to the will of God which is what every human was created and reminded to do by the prophets that God sent. From Adam to Abraham Noah Moses Joseph Jesus all the way to the final prophet and messenger to All of mankind Muhammad peace be upon them all. A messenger was sent to every nation with the same message and they were all given their book for guidance to their people for example Christians were given the Injil also known as the gospel and Jews were given the Torah.. however with time we know changes have been made to these scriptures my man so no longer are they the complete word of God. For example Christians have started to worship Jesus when he was a mighty prophet when Jesus warned against that and also joined partner with God by saying God has a son. The Jews denied Jesus and as a punishment from God they are awaiting the anti christ who they believe will be their messiah. The Quran has all the answers and we dont deny Jesus as the messiah who was given miracles by God to the Jews. He was a Great prophet of God who will return to kill the antichrist this is our belief as Muslims. The Quran is the unchanged preserved revelation not for just arabs and Muslims but for All of mankind including Jews and Christians and God has promised to preserve the Quran till the day of judgement. The Quran is unchanged and a miraculous book preserved over 1400 plus years ago. I would reccomend you to read the translation atleast once in your life sooner than later everything will make sense to you your purpose in life why your here what will happen after.

If on the day of judgement you will present yourself to him that He is just a prophet, you will be rejected. You must acknowledge him as the Son of God and as your Lord and Savior and obey his commandments to get in heaven.
John 3:16:17 For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent his Son in the world not to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved.
John 14:6 tells us that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one goes to the Father but by him.
      John 16:15 (KJV)
All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
John 1:1- 4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 10;30 I and My Father are one.
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace
Psalms 45:6-7 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
      Ephesians 4:13 (KJV)
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
      Colossians 2:9 (KJV)
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
      Revelation 1:8 (KJV)
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. That is how Jesus addresses himself in the book of Revelation.

Kizito Lukanga Ndawula you can’t use the Bible to prove the Bible. That’s not how it works. There are SO MANY other verses you could use to compare to the current real world as better proof. This is all as much proof, as a comic book of Spider-Man proving that Spider-Man exists.

The thing that I love about Islam is that it believes in all the prophets and messengers and in all the divine books such as the Bible and the revolutions. It also calls on us to respect all religions, and this is what makes us not insult any religion, as they are doing now with Islam and Muslims and are trying to distort its image and link it with terrorists, even though true Muslims in themselves condemn the actions of Terrorists...the most important thing is respect and morals. We should not judge a religion by the actions of some ❤

I think God wants us to explore the world and religion, and not to blindly follow whatever they tell us. We still haven't understood Qur'an 100% so we could say: 'okay do this this and this'. It's still a gray area it's still from person to person! But three things stay constant, that there is one true religion, one true God and one true last prophet.

As I learn more about Islam and the Quran I learn that they have no better idea than the Jews or the Christians. Equally as mystifying. Yet I believe that the point God wants to make is that God is real. To get this in to our heads God is real. We humans get stuck in the ruts and need to be shaken up. It makes me want to look in to the book of Mormon as well... Not that i will stop being a Christian. I know what Jesus was trying to describe to the gentiles so I belong to him he is my shepherd. If Muhammed or Joseph Smith can bring sheep to the same gates then more power to them. Then you will remember all religion can point the same way. The point is to try not to forget. God is real.

    I loved the video!
Islam is indeed a great ideology! This particular religion has been hugely misunderstood not only by others but also some of its own people. But i have known, met and lived amongst muslims around me.
I don’t know about others, but i am trying to learn about all the religions and surprisingly i find a beautiful harmony between all of them, and though mostly each religious scripture sounds different than the other.... I honestly found that the difference was only of the language that the messenger chose, the style he presented the knowledge.
I often read various religious books of yoga, islam, sikhism, Jainism, hinduism and christianity. I read them after my morning meditation when my mind is clear of unnecessary thoughts and this just changes the whole dimension!
I find all scriptures to be alike, obviously language and perspective chosen are different but ultimately all point towards a cosmic energy which is intelligent, conscious and beyond human imagination!! No word, no image, no thought, no book, no form.... nothing in the cerebral capacity of human brain can even imagine how “it” will be.
Some have called it “god” some have called it “allah” some have called it “chetna” some have called it “nirvaana” some have called it “ param aatman”
But ultimately they have all pointed that there is one singular intelligent and consciousness energy that is not only creating, managing and destroying the cosmos but also it exists in every single electron, atom, grain of sand to huge mountains, humans, and nature.
It is everywhere!!!! In every breath, in every word, in every human, in every rock. The almighty resides. Nothing in the world is away from “it”. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Most Muslims go after traditions instead of learning about all of Islam. That the employer of the future prophet proposed marriage to him.
Women were strong and owned businesses and properties. Today women are Subservient and too quiet.
Why Muslims do not care about ecology, animals, recycling, social causes? Just around family. They make nothing but food. Marriage to first cousins is forbidden because of mutations.

For better understanding, I watch videos or use internet for clarification (from reliable source; surprisingly I found Wikipedia to be good for summary of Surah). Islam doesn't disagree with the Jewish Bible or the Bible. In Islam, all three manuscripts ( Jewish Bible, Bible, and Qur'an) were sent by the same God. In Islam, they believe that when God sends down a book, he adapts it to the generation it delivered. First came the Torah, then the Bible, then the Qur'an. That's why The content of all three books is very similar with only slight changes.

What are the beliefs? Im confused. The video did not clarify it to me.
He said there is a God, you have to follow a lifestyle, like behaving correctly and pray, following some rules... but that's common on almost every religion, it's generic. What is special and unique in Islam?, why does a believer differentiate it from any other religion, so that he chooses this one?

Islam: it is surrender to Allah, submission to him by doing his commands, leaving his intentions, this is Islam. the religion of Allah is Islam[Al-Imran:19] Islam means: submission and humiliation to Allah by uniting and devotion to him, obeying His commands, leaving his intentions, this is Islam, including: performing prayer, performing Zakat, fasting Ramadan, House pilgrimage, parents ' righteousness, kinship of the womb, leaving all sins included in Islam, and Islam is submission to the commands of Allah, obedience to the commands of Allah, through reverence, humiliation, and from breaking, and from a desire for what Allah has to satisfy him, so he was told: Islam, it is said: Aslam so-and-so means humiliation for him and criticism for his commands, for Islam is submission to the commands of Allah, obedience to the commands of Allah, through reverence, humiliation, and from a desire for what Allah has pleasing to him

Belief and Faith are different things though
Belief is a state of mind and heart in cohesion, about accepting facts or truth while faith is committing yourself wholeheartedly with trust and confidence to same facts or truth. In other words Faith is a practical implication of your belief. JazakAllah khair

I have some questions for anyone who knows Allah and Muhamed and believes the Koran and Muhammed are from the One God, and who believe Allah is the One God. 1) A muslim told me Adam was made from blood, but I read in the Koran that man was made from clay/dirt. What does Allah say about his creation of man? From what was man made? 2) Does Allah give rules or commands? What is the greatest command of Allah? 3) Who was the first person to break a command of Allah? Who was the first person to break the Greatest command of Allah? 4) What was/is Allah's punishment for breaking his greatest command/rule/law? Thank you.

Brief Version of the Creation of Man
Abi Musa Al-Shaarai narrated that Prophet Muhammad said: "Allah created Adam from a handful of dust taken from different lands, so the children of Adam have been created according to the composition of the land. Therefore, from mankind we have white, red, black and yellow ones; we have good and evil, ease and sorrow, and what comes in between them."
Getting the Clay to Make Man
Ibn Masud and other companions of the Prophet said that Allah the Almighty sent Gabriel onto the earth to get Him clay therefrom. The earth said: "I seek refuge in Allah from your decreasing my quantity or disfiguring me." So Gabriel returned and did not take anything. And he said: "My Lord, the land sought refuge in You, and it was granted."
So Allah sent Michael for the same purpose, and the land sought refuge with Allah and it was granted. So he went back and said to Allah what Gabriel had said before him.
Then Allah sent the Angel of Death, and the land sought refuge in Allah. The angel said: "I also seek refuge with Allah from returning without carrying out His command." So he took clay from the face of the earth and mixed it. He did not take from one particular place, but rather he took white, red, and black clay (from different places).
The Angel of Death ascended with it, and He (Allah) soaked the clay till it became sticky. Then Allah said to the angels: "Truly, I am going to create man from clay. So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him (his) soul created by Me. Then you fall down prostrate to him. Quran Ayah 38:71-72
      The Angels' Fear of Adam
So Allah shaped Adam into a human being, but he remained a figure of clay for forty years. The angels went past him. They were seized with fear by what they saw, and Iblis felt this fear most. He used to pass by the figure of Adam, buffeting it, which would make a sound like pottery. Allah told us: He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. Quran Ayah 55:14
      The Breathing of Allah's Spirit
When the time drew near to breathe the spirit into Adam, as Allah the Almighty decreed, He commanded the angels:
'When I breathe My spirit into him prostrate before him." Allah breathed His spirit into Adam and when it reached his head Adam sneezed. The angels said: "Say all praise belongs to Allah." Adam repeated: "All praise belongs to Allah." Allah said to him: "Your Lord has granted you mercy." When the spirit reached his eyes, Adam looked at the fruits of Paradise. When it reached his abdomen Adam felt an appetite for food. He jumped hurriedly before the spirit could reach his legs, so that he could eat from the fruits of Paradise. Allah, therefore, said: Man is created of haste. Quran Ayah 21:37
And then: The angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. Except Iblis - he refused to be among the prostrators. Quran Ayah 15:31-32
      Another Version of Adam's Creation
Another version of the story relates that Allah took a handful of the dust of the earth and mixed into it the colors white, black, yellow, and red. That is the reason why men are born different colors. When Allah mixed the dust with water, it turned into potter's clay that makes a sound. It was fermented and had a smell. Iblis passed by, wondering what was going to be made of that clay. From the clay Allah created Adam. He molded his form with His own hands and blew His spirit into him. Adam's body quivered as life was imbued into it. Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, "Be!"- and it is! Quran Ayah 37:82
      The Reason for Adam's Creation
After this lesson about freedom, Adam learned another lesson, one about knowledge. Adam realized that Iblis was the symbol of evil in the universe and that the angels were the symbol of good. However, he did not yet know anything about himself. Then Allah made him perceive his true identity, the reason for his creation, and the secret of his glorification.
Allah the Exalted said: And He taught Adam all the names (of everything). Quran Ayah 2:31
Almighty Allah granted Adam the power to know the natures of all things and to summarize them by names: that is a bird, that is a star, that is a tree, that is a cloud, etc. Allah implanted in Adam an insatiable need for and love of knowledge and a desire to bequeath knowledge to his children. This was the reason for his creation and the secret in his glorification.
