My girlfriend and I stayed in this exact house in January 2018 for 10 days when we were in Siargao. We just happened to type in Siargao on TH-cam to see the storm damage and we came across your video and we were absolutely shocked that you are staying in the same exact place. We have so many memories there. When you showed the dad it brought back so many memories. He is so hardworking and a really nice person. We are so glad that you all are okay.
There is an important lesson opportunity for Story here. You need to stay strong and demonstrate to her that no matter how bad things get in life, there is always hope for the future. I was in Kruger National Park many years ago. A Ranger told me that yes Elephants can be destructive. But often that destruction creates circumstances for new growth. For example tearing a bow off a tree allows plants to germinate and grow in the shelter of that discarded dead branch. Your priorities are right. Get the house weatherproof. Then I'd clear up the broken glass so that in particular Poppy does not injure herself and can run free. I think the purchase of a chainsaw might be a useful tool to turn those trees into manageable logs. The place will look a whole lot better once those trees are removed.
To Jay and family: We're deeply honoured and thankful that you chose and decided to stay and live in our country. We're deeply saddened though with the devastation that you also experienced there in Siargao with the onslaught of the typhoon Odette. But don't despair, God is good, and He shall provide the help that all of you there direly need. Just keep faith and Please take care still. You are a good family and we in the Philippines welcome you and your family with open arms and open heart. My prayers for you and your family and for the Filipino people there. God bless you all.

Looking on how story do the vlog, i kinda think she adjusted to the Filipino resiliency. No matter how bad it is, there still a smile on her face like what most Filipinos do.
Could not help but cry with you, Jay!! I feel your pain and anguish!!! Be strong for your family - they need you more than ever!!! Hugs and kisses from San Francisco, California USA!!!
Typhoons have been a part of the Filipinos lives...sometimes it's so-so and sometimes it's worst than you can imagine... Glad that your family are safe, take care and stay healthy to all...
Filipino are resilient they always see a light in the dark they will bounce back stronger just be safe in no time they will be back in their feet Filipino are very RESOURCEFUL
I'm Filipino and I cried because you cried but when I saw the trees on the ground - I saw brand new houses being built with them, and food for weeks... Don't worry too much, the only big step that you must do is the first step to clean and fix your house :) as long as you're alive and healthy - then all is good. Broken cars can be fixed for cheap in the Philippines - money is not even a problem as long as you know how to use your elbow grease. Smile, tomorrow is a new day. A new beginning awaits. Bless you 🙏🏽

@@brucemunro7499 Welcome Mike! I would like to introduce you to some others of your ilk. But I haven't seen them for the last two vlogs. You'd like them, after all, birds of a feather...
It was a pretty traumatic experience. My family and I are just glad our house actually held up. The moment I woke up, it was unbelievable. I can totally relate to what you guys felt. We were completely cut off. It was the most devastating thing to have happened in my life so far. I hope things will get better soon.
One amazing typical trait of the Filipinos is RESILIENCY. Jay, you and your family are still lucky. You are alive. Think about other people who are in worse situation. But as I've said, Filipinos are resilient. These unfortunate events happen and they carry on and keep on working on, move forward. You guys can do this!
I’m so sorry for the devastation y’all went through and are going through now. I hope everyone on the island gets the help they need and utilities are back up soon.
Let us give this British family love and respect as Filipinos where love by British. So many Filipinos are well off now in UK. You could survive that catastrophy as you did in Portugal and Thailand, Filipino survived during Spanish and Japanese occupation.
You cannot help everyone but you can help someone. You have a good heart but don't get depressed. Filipinos are resilient and still can smile in the midst of disaster. Materials are immaterial when the spirit is strong. I just subscribed and I hope you will gain more views and subscribers. Your daughter is a source of sunshine.
You've survived life in Philippines! After this experience, you will never, never get scared ever again to any kind of strong typhoons thrown at you especially the young lady. It's a life rare experience! Very brave family indeed.
Sending love and light brother. I cannot imagine the anger, frustration, sadness and loss ( personal, financial and psychological) that you are experiencing. You are strong and powerful together. Your previous experience with natural disasters tells me of your strength. Keep believing in your strength and your ability to adapt. Of course that is easy for me to say but I wouldn’t give you BS in this moment. If your stuck or struggling and need someone to talk to please respond to this message and we will let it happen. In times of natural disaster gender, religion, wealth, politics and ethnicity mean nothing. All that matters is humanity. Sending the same message to anybody affected to this tragedy ✌🏾 & ❤️ my friend XOXO
The heart of the Filipino people is made of stone when it comes to calamity like that. We are used to being resilient because in the end of the day we know that even thou we lost valuable property, as long as we don't lose any loveones we know that we can still smile. Take care.
@@johnreyleosala2935 you are filipino. But have experienced your house collapsed due to the typhoon or earthquake? Did you still smile after the incident and pretend like nothing happen. Your stereotyping filipinos. I am also filipino and believe me . If you nvr experience this kind of incident then you have no idea what ur talking about. Our house in cebu was affected by odette. My parents were worried sick. I seen it and ive been there. They were not smiling and laughing bcus the house was destroyed.
Filipino will recover, we are used to disaster and we always bounce back. One step at a time before you know it everything will be back to normal. I am glad you guys are ok, you can always replace material things but not a life. Still count your blessings even in a disaster.
@Philball and who in their decent mind decided to not evacuate from their home located by the shore? I think you took the comment literally. Resilient, in win com's sentence, means being persevering in times of difficulty. Resilient in his/her statement does not refer to an act of standing still against a strong gush of wind by the shore. Be analytical before and cautious about commenting next time.
You are Very Brave, i m afraid of storms i would never be able to stand this one single time , i m from Brazil and any small storm is enough to make me cry
Resiliency is not a good thing and shouldn't be seen in a positive light. What we should do as 'Filipinos' is to improve infrastructure, invent things that will help us protect against storms. Build things that will complement storms, especially a way of harnessing a great deal of energy from these storms. We should be more productive, not resilient.
The most important thing is that you are all alive and well, material things can be replaced, but not lives. I'm sure you and all of Siargao and everyone affected by the typhoon will recover. God bless!
The pros and cons of living in the Philippines an island,! I was born in Manila now living in dallas Texas I have experienced typhoons, earthquakes, cyclones, floods, disasters, coups, etc yet FILIPINOS are resilient and will rise up again 🇺🇲❤️🇸🇽 God bless the Philippines

It's heartbreaking when Jay started talking about how he survived an earthquake in Thailand, forest fire in Portugal, and now this typhoon in the Philippines.
I’m a new subscriber. I haven’t skipped an ad yet. Odette obliterated Central PI. I spoke with a customer service agent in Cebu City yesterday and he said they don’t have power or water in many areas. Odette has been compared to Yolanda (Haiyan) from 2013. It breaks my heart to see this. The climate crisis is real. Storms like this that go from a low end typhoon to a high end Super Typhoon like Haiyan (Yolanda) in less than 24 hours is becoming the new normal. It’s happening here in the United States as well. I’m so sorry for all you’re going through as well as all the people & animals affected. It will take years before this island fully recovers. The vegetation will take a decade or more. I’m so sorry.
When news first came out saying that Siargao would be directly hit, your family immediately came to my mind. I prayed "oh God please keep them safe". I only got a sigh of relief when your friend (Sanny?) featured you in her video. Knowing the resiliency of Filipinos, they are together with you in bringing everyone's life back to normal. EIGHT MILES FROM HOME will come back STRONGER, and SIARGAO will RISE UP AGAIN.
Jay, the damage is all material things and can all be replaced in time. Be happy you still have your family and none of you were hurt. It's devastating to see but rejoice you all seen the sunrise. I heard the Filipino people are strong people they'll help one another and you get it all straightened out. I'm praying for the Phillipines for help and strength to rebuild their homes and towns. Love from the Hopi Tribe, First Mesa, AZ. Michelle Carl
It is blessing that J is a handyman and he's able to fix things around the house. And Story is showing some talent in front of the camera. She may like to be a TV reporter when she grow up🤩 Thinking of you guys, so glad you are all safe.
Sending prayers and healing to your family… We’re relieved that you’re all doing fine. We’re also affected by the typhoon in Cebu. May God guide us all and give us strength to carry on.
My prayers for your family to recover from this traumatic experience and with lord's help build a safer and stronger home so that once you will enjoy the beauty and serenity of Siargao! Praise the lord everybody is safe from harm and that is the thing that matters!
It also happened here in Western Visayas when part of our province was severely hit by Yolanda, first sight was terrifying and heartbreaking you wouldnt know how people could recover but after a year I visited the place, everything is back to normal as if nothing happened at all. I'm sure Siargao wil rise again.
Been crying watching your two last vlogs. My heart aches seeing all the destruction and suffering this typhoon has left. I am glad your family is safe. It will take time, but I am sure things will slowly somewhat improve again for all those affected. Just don’t loose hope.
My heart is breaking from what you are and will be going through. Keep strong dear hearts. I’m so sorry, sooo sorry. Prayers are going up for you. God bless.
I am in awe that Jmayel's reaction is to immediately do something to give back to the Filipino people of Siargao.... to help out. Instead of a flight reaction, he chooses to fight this out. Such a good soul! Though, somehow I would feel more comfortable that they prioritize their family first because there is only so much they can do. The help the island is getting is for immediate needs but to fully commit their entire aspirations and hopes to the island would be a long haul that will test and break them. Part of me wants to see them succeeding to reclaim their investments in Siargao but I also want them to recuperate and find their bearings first again outside the island. Recovery of Siargao will take many months of hard work. Bless the 8MFH family and Papang's family too.
Don't worry sir, help will come soon. The Filipinos are brave and resilient. We will cry in a moment, but soon will realize that we need to move on, smile, and rebuild again. Get hope and strength to Filipinos. Talk to them. Let's be thankful to our creator that we survived and surpassed the Typhoon.
My heart breaks for everyone affected by the typhoon. Grateful you are alive and now for that pioneer mindset will help you take the next steps to recovery of body and soul. Much love and prayers coming your way.
My hearts breaking for you all. Those are all things that can be fixed. Thank God you still have your lives. Find as many survivors as you all possible can. I'm going to talk to my people and see what we can do here from the USA. We already have for the children of Africa. Stay strong, many here are keeping you in our prayers. I'll keep you posted. 😢❤🙏🙏

Typhoons have been a part of the Filipinos lives...sometimes it's so-so and sometimes it's worst than you can imagine... Glad that your family are safe, take care and stay healthy to all...
When you look and feel down see the world in Story's eyes . She is full of hope and joy. Be strong. Bangon Siargao!!!!
Bless you 🙏🏽
We feel for you guys. You are blessed to have made through that terrifying ordeal. Your daughter is an absolute joy to se and hear. Absolutely brilliant child. You’ll pull through this but it’s gonna be a very big task to do so.
So sad to see the devastation brought by the typhoon. Wish you and your family's safety.
Butch will surely understand. Definitely he’s as glad as we are to see you all survived with the wrath of this typhoon. Stay strong! You are in our prayers.
I experienced this kind of devastation during the Yolanda. Filipinos are resilient and I know they will rise up and recover.
Happy New Year to all! God Bless the Philippines. 😎👍
J, Sacha and Story, I feel that you are really genuine people who truly love the Philippines. You have my respect and I am your forever fan, when everyone leaves, you stayed. And yo respectnthe Filipino people. I salute you!!!
What's important is that you and your family are safe, this is where your Faith is gonna be tested, but you can also learn from the resiliency of the Filipinos, they will rebuild Siargao!, their Spirit will never falter whatever disaster may come. Siargao will recover!
True, as our country men on that side of the country where yearly visited with devastating typhoons like ODETTE comes out resilient with smile by helping each other during crisis.
Our prayers to all affected and victims of ODETTE.
Keep safe and stay strong …
Absolutely true....filipinos are strong willed people ,even in this trying stil we can stil see thier smiling faces....importante buhi!! and step by step they wil rebuild the damages brought about by typhoons nor earthquake....bangon lang siargao and its inhabitants, kayang kaya nyo yan ...i have high hopes that siargao wil be great again!

Take care.
Thats what you see that they are smiling in camera but behind the scene
They r devastated too . Imagine you need money to build their house again

@@noexcuses5524 yes I did... And I why I smiled? Because ni one in my family died.
Filipino will recover, we are used to disaster and we always bounce back. One step at a time before you know it everything will be back to normal. I am glad you guys are ok, you can always replace material things but not a life. Still count your blessings even in a disaster.
6:00 I agree Filipinos will recover as they always do, but J doesn't know that...yet.
Just imagine how many storm we Filipinos have to face each year... It made us resilient... No storm or disaster can stop us. ❤️❤️❤️
@Orient think before you comment.
You are Very Brave, i m afraid of storms i would never be able to stand this one single time , i m from Brazil and any small storm is enough to make me cry
@Walang Kwentang Channel Resiliency does not equal stupidity.
God bless!
I am with you Jay, Sacha and Story. Please stay strong. Dont lose hope. God Bless 🙂

After the typhoon, hearing the rooster early in the morning is a blessing.
One tough rooster ,want to breed that bugger
