Enoch, a captivating figure in both biblical and Enochian traditions, reveals fascinating connections to older myths, particularly from Ancient Sumer. One striking example is the parallel between the story of Enoch's ascent to heaven and the myth of Adapa, featuring Anu, the sky god, summoning Enoch for breaking the wings of the south wind. In the Adapa myth, Enki, the god of wisdom, deceives Adapa into abstaining from the food and drink of immortality, leading to his return to humanity. Enoch's story mirrors this pattern, but with a unique twist.
In the context of the Enochian tradition, Enoch emerges as a countercultural figure, challenging and subverting the earlier mythological traditions, particularly the Babylonian legacy. The biblical narrative of Enoch undermines the grandiosity of the Tower of Babel and the Babylonian aspirations associated with it. Enoch's emphasis on divine encounters, heavenly revelations, and his ultimate destiny as a mortal contrasts with the Babylonian tradition's lofty ambitions.
The inclusion of Enoch in the Enochian literature showcases a deliberate reimagining of ancient myths and the construction of a distinctive theological framework. Enoch's role as a prophet and visionary enables the development of unique perspectives on cosmology, divine communication, and humanity's fate.
Exploring these connections deepens our understanding of the intricate interplay between religious traditions, mythological reinterpretations, and the evolution of theological concepts in the ancient Near East. Enoch's enigmatic story exemplifies how ancient traditions were reshaped, reflecting cultural and religious shifts that have influenced subsequent religious and literary traditions.

Please comment down below your favorite part of this video and don't forget to like my friends.
Also, I've noticed some comments who think I made the mistake of assuming that the Enoch in Genesis 5 which is in the line of Seth is the Enoch son of Cain from Genesis 4. I spoke with a few scholars who understand Pentateuchal studies who said they think the Geneology in Genesis 4 & 5 are two versions of the same genealogy which is why there is confusion. Just as Genesis 1 & 2 are two separate creation accounts.
I sincerely thought I was wrong from reading comments, but it looks like I'm in good company with critical scholars on this one.
Heres a snippet of what Phillologist & Dead Sea Scroll scholar Matthew Monger said,
"They are two different people in the narrative - but it’s so obvious that the descendants of Cain and the descendants of Seth come from the same made up tradition. They are basically the same names. Compare gen 4:17-26 (about Cain) with Gen 5 (about Seth)."

@@MythVisionPodcast , 1, that was extremely rude of me, 2, nice self-emoji, 3, I was like, "Dude! Get to the good stuff!", 4, Once we finally got there, I legit loved the material. It was really interesting how many parallels there were between Enoch and other regional myths. Your connections between Enoch and Titans made me think of how Adam and Eve were supposed to be hundreds of feet tall in some extra-biblical jewish and christian writings. Between W. O. E. Oesterly and Irving Finkel, I'd long taken it as a given that most Hebrew myths were borrowed from cultures around them, and it was really cool to see connections to some of the more obscure myths I hadn't heard of.
Oh for a world where organized religion didn't purge a thousand years of writings, history, and folklore!

I would never claim to know everything, even after living over half a century. One thing I do know is, anyone who tells you that you are inherently bad, because of the mere fact of your existence, is lying to you. Especially some guy in a funky bathrobe who passes around a deep-dish plate for you to put money in.

    • @SrHj-bf5su
      @SrHj-bf5su 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

We are inherently human. God made us. He made us to be...not to be good or bad, just to be, because he could or because he wanted to, who knows? They were given life and told here is your food. They were, well, innocent, not good, not evil. When a person goes against what God says, intentionally or accidentally, I changed that person. We learn and or are changed by everything we do, one way or another. That's called experience. With experience we learn and grow and are changed. We they disobeyed God, for which there were consequences, they were changed beyond understanding. But let's say their DNA was changed or evolved if you prefer. And now because of that first sin of yours and my ancestors. We are all the glasses full of water with just that drop of black ink. Because if you add one drop to clean water, do you have clean water? No. And then if you diluted that inky water through generations and generations and generations...is that as clean as the first cup? Once you add that darkness there is no way to take it out. Only the grace and mercy of God can remove that little bit of ink from our souls. The real problem was that, no soul, with even the tiniest bit of that stain of sin. It's a stain because it's not my sin but it's still there. Its still real. No soul, with any kind of sin attached to it could enter into heaven. And no human no matter how Godly could manage to live a perfectly righteous life. Then enters Jesus of Nazareth. The true son of God. The son of man because his mother was human. The Christ or savior of mankind. The only person that has ever been able to live a completely holy life, and only able to because his father, is God. If he had two human parents he would have been like any other human who had failed to be righteous enough to get into heaven. Our capacity to love is what makes us not evil. Our choices in life are what make us further away from the truth and our God. Without Jesus we would have continued to have no way to get to heaven unless God himself came and plucked us from the earth by hand. If you read all this then my thanks. I praise and pray to God alone. But I can give thanks to my saviour Jesus. He who saved me from myself walking a line through life with no thought of the true meaning of life. Amen

I like the format and find the content very interesting, but if I may critique it a bit, I would add that maybe Derek could experiment with finding a way of injecting some pauses, maybe short burst of music, or maybe repetition, or query, or a reaction, something to break up the speed of the flow of information. The content is so packed, that a pause at some points would enhance understanding. Some books you read at a fast pace without putting them down, and others you take a bit at a time. I have never played cricket, but I can tell if the pace is fast, slow, moderate or very fast.

Scorpio is the eagle, Etana is Ophiuchus, next door to Sagittarius, playing the roll of Athena and the Far Shooter, The 3 constellations associated with the Golden Gate of the Gods, the center of our galaxy, where stars are born, who the ancient people called gods. The Archer, far shooting with a silver bow. The god of healing who taught man medicine. The god of light. The god of truth, who can not speak a lie. His twin sister is Artemis. He is the god of music, playing a golden lyre. Pallas Athena, Goddess of Strategic Warfare, Wisdom, Handcrafts and Arts. Pallas derived from the Greek word pallô meaning "to brandish (a spear)". Pallas was a Goatish god, Athena made her arm guard out of his skin, the one that holds the Spear. PALLAS was the Titan god of battle and warcraft. He was the father of Nike (Victory), Zelos (Rivalry), Kratos (Cratus, Strength) and Bia (Power) by Styx (Hatred), children who sided with Zeus during the Titan-War.
Sagittarius is where you find Spiculum, meaning Spear, a little bloody red spot, you find the Sun at on the Day of the Winter Solstice. The first Doctor was the Dog Headed Goddess Bau/Gula, the She Goat, the Harp(Lyra) Star Vega, directly above Ophiuchus. A doctor would use a Speculum to look where babies come from, Sagittarius is the hips and thighs, Scorpio is the sexual organ, Ophiuchus, like the hidden 13, is the womb, which carries Damu "the Child", the Dying and Rising god of Healing, Son of Pabilsag.
Both Pabilsag and Damu names are associated with each other, Sumerian word Pabil means 'ancestor or relative'. In combination with the final element sag, meaning 'chief or foremost', Damu should be translated as "blood," and refers to the concept of a deified kinship, a "brother" or "relative".
If you play the words "Say There Is A Guest" in reverse, you hear it echo Sagittarius, or "Her Message" to echo December, and "Her Bid One, Wise Quotes" will echo "Scorpio, November", played in reverse, and for Ophiuchus, I find two words, for the two ways people pronounce the name, you'll like them both, "Seek Reefer" and "Sacred Aether", would that be smoke from the reefer.
Sagittarius is shaped like a Teapot. The bloody red spot Spiculum played in reverse will echo Mother Cups, the Grail. You find it by drawing a line from the Eye of Sagittarius to the Red Heart of Scorpio "Antares", the echo heard playing "She Raise Dead" in reverse.
That was only the Golden Gate of the Gods, there is also the Silver Gate of Man, between them is the Gate Keeper, the Setatna, "He who knows the Way".

There are two Enochs in Genesis and I think you've mixed them up. One was a descendant of Cain, the other a descendant of Seth. There's no indication that they refer to the same person.
Also, you seem to be under the impression that Genesis is post exile. The book of Enoch was written much later, in Hellenistic times, but Genesis is pre-Neobabylonian. There are different sections of Genesis, like the foundation legends and genealogies in the first 10 or 11 chapters, then the biographies of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph in the other 40 or so chapters. The genealogies themselves are not found in the dead sea scrolls because all the copies of Genesis found there are were very damaged, and the fragments have not been able to be reassembled as of yet. The DSS don't represent the dating of any old testament documents, just the oldest extant manuscripts.

"Yah wants to keep mankind in a state of innocence and without the understanding of the gods "
    Very interesting statement.
One thing I've learned in the last few months from the garden account is to not judge things as good or evil but to recognize what is, life.
By letting go of the judgment, I'm free to question, understand and maybe help or tend to the person or situation. My caring is not muddied by a negative judgment or blinded by a positive.
I'm still learning, letting go, growing and seeking.
Do you believe that our understandings of the garden account are similar?

" Today, Satan and man have kept mankind in a state of ignorance and without the understanding of the gods and who they actually were."
This will change soon. The unveiling has already begun.
Also, your comment about not judging things as good or evil is.....ridiculous really.
Who established morality? Was it not the God of creation? If we are the product of billions of years of chance and chemicals, you know, rocks to man, then morality really doesn't exist, does it? Only in the mind of man. But, if the creator judges a thing to be evil, is it not evil? If I acknowledge His judgement of what is evil from His word and then call it evil myself when confronted by it, am I in danger of His judgement? No but, I am in danger of Mans' judgement.
You're not going to make it sitting on the fence my friend. You need to choose a side and understand that you will be persecuted for it. Especially if you choose Him. take care...

I'm glad you mentioned the Watchers and the Nephilim because Christians love to dismiss this passage as the "sons of God" just being the human sons of Seth, instead of what's actually defined in the book of Enoch as beings who are supernatural in origin. This shares so much in the Mesopotamian myths of the Annunaki and the Gilgamesh stories, which Christians want to deny has no connection at all to Genesis. Clearly not so.
I think you might have an error on one point- Enoch, the one who journeyed into Heaven and such, was descended from Seth. There was another Enoch, son of Caine, in the Genesis narrative, but he wasn't connected to the supernatural experiences of the Sethian Enoch, as far as I know.

If you play "New Womb" in reverse, it echoes "Moon". Would the Watchers be the Nephilim, play "Moon Friend" in reverse, it echoes "Nephilim". If you Watch the Moon, you see that it's rhythm is 7, where in the center, Eve hides, between the S'N, play "Sin Eve" in reverse, you hear it echo "Venus", doing the same with "Seven", you hear it echo "Novus", meaning New, something, Shiva do, in Hebrew Shiva means Seven, the number of weeks Venus spends behind the Sun, which is tilted 7 degrees, giving it that little Shiva Dance. Both Venus and the Moon are tide-locked with Earth. I'm Johnny come late; great video.. This is something I put together yesterday.
Deep Reed: i.e. I get Long Winded [= Thoth...].
In the Erra Epic, Marduk specifically asks for the Seven Sages. The cuneiform lists of seven sages (apkallu) present different names in different order. Adapa is a short form of the name of the first primary sage, whose full name was U-an-adapa. U-An is another short form of the name. His figure equals Oannes as the first sage in Berossus’ account. But in the apkallu list of Bit Meseri and elsewhere, Utuabzu/ Utuabba/ Adapa also takes the seventh position. Ada-pa.
This is explicitly clear in the name of the seventh sage, Utu-abzu, which here means “born in the apsû,” the water deep under the earth where Ea / Enki ZU, has his abode. In the first two lists in Bīt Mēseri the seventh sage is given this name. In the third list he is called Utuaabba, which is the same as the Sumerian epithet equated with adapu above. In the Ada-pa myth, the seventh sage is said to have ascended to heaven. Also the first sage is related to heaven; he is the light of the god of heaven. Nevertheless, both in Bīt Mēseri and in Berossos all the sages are related to water; they are described as fish-men. the name of the apkallu mentioned is Utuabzu. who comes seventh in a list of apkallus. In another place in the same text, the last of seven sages is Utua-abba,
mentioned as one who descended from
heaven.“ [Pro 30:4]. The bird-apkallū tends to a sacred tree. Considering the mullilu
in his right hand and the banduddu in his left, (tree cone and water bucket), he is engaged in a water ritual intended to sanctify the sacred tree. This is a common motif in Sumerian and Neo-Assyrian idols. The
apkallus were also an essential part of the composition Šēp lemutti. Marduk asks, "Where are the Seven Sages of the Apsu, the pure puradu fish , who just as their lord Ea, have been endowed with sublime wisdom?"
Anonymous John a.k.a. Oannes, said jesus says, 'no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven."

It has also been historically acknowledged as the origin of the miter worn by the Catholic Pope. The Christian Church
has always been associated with fish.
Christ himself took on that imagery, as did John the Baptist, and the early Christians used the fish sign of the "Ichthys" to designate themselves. The syllable "dag" merely means "fish", which makes it interesting to note that the Dogon tribe of Africa, who have long baffled astronomers with their advanced knowledge of the faraway star-system from which they say their gods came, claim that these gods were "fish-men."

The Arabic version of Anun is a variant of the name Anan, which means “cloud" and this is why in Sumer Noah was known as the sky god Anu the ancestor of the Anunnaki (It doesn't mean there isn't Anunnaki who live somewhere in space) and Hopi Anu-naki means “ant friends" and Hapi based on my research the founder of the Hapiru tribe of Babylon and Hopi tribe of America was the son of Horus and Qebehsenuef another son of Horus married his cousin Kebechet the daughter of Anubis and Quebec is named for them and Bêche Nutraceutical Company is utilizing her short name and beche-de-mer which is boiled, dried, and smoked flesh of sea cucumbers used to make soups and even though Sea Cucumbers are found in different waters of the world this company according to its own claims teams up with Canadian fishermen who harvest wild Sea Cucumber off the East Coast of Canada and even the river Thames was known as the Isis river in the past and Isis was the wife of Osiris and the word Dura an anagram of Ziusudra is the outermost of the 3 meninges pronounced məˈninjēz and Ningal where we get the word "Ninja" was the daughter of Enki and mother of Ishtar where the word "star" derives from and where we eventually get the English nursery rhyme "Star Light, Star Bright" and the father of Ishtar was Nannar "Suen" where we get the word "Sun" and he was the son of Enlil who was known as the ancestor of the Enlilites as in "lights" and the word Bright is pronounced brīt and Min "Lord of the eastern desert" is where the word "men" derives from and he was the son of Osiris and brother of Horus and Anubis and the ingles in the word meninges as in English is pronounced ˈiNG(ɡ)liSH and the word "baby" as in Babyland as in Babylon and the baby sound “ga ga ga” is what is known as reduplicated babbling and the connection to the Tower of Babel and is connected to confusion of tongues or a confusion of sounds or voices.
The Amori (Amorites) descend from Emer the son of Canaan and grandson of Ham and they worshipped a god called Amurru also known as Martu a spelling variation of the name Marduk and the ancient Incans descendants of Enki (Enkais) worshiped a god called Amaru and ancient Greek Gigantes contains Giges a spelling variation of Gigas "giant" and "Antes" as in Andes Mountain founded by King AE. T N. IY D. EY also known as "Andy" the ancestor of the Andeans of South America and the ancient kingdom of Kuga-Ki which is named for Ningikuga and her husband Enki and the Hebrew GOD was known as "Ancient of Days".
I want to add that the Katkari is an Indian tribe in Maharashtra and the Amaru also known as Katari an ancient serpent or dragon that the Incan people worshipped (It could have been a king that was wearing some type of jewelry with a serpent or dragon symbol, and the symbol associated with Enki was the entwined snake which represents the DNA double helix and Marduk was known as the "snake-dragon" and his wife was called Sarpanit a spelling variation of "serpent" and snakes were called dragons in the past and according to legend Mušḫuššu was a dragon (snake) owned by the sun god Marduk and one of the symbols of Enlil was the "Winged Sun" and he named one of his sons Suen and his son King Utu Malak-bel was worshipped as a sun god in the ancient city of Sippar and he was also worshipped by the names Moloch and Baal by the ancient Canaanites that descend from Canaan the son of Ham.
The connection to Peru and the Peruvians and Perun worshiped by the ancient Kievan Rus who descend from Rushash the son of Tyrrhenus and grandson of Japheth and the surname Peruničić derives from his name Perun and what is very interesting is there is a tribe called Mashco-Piro and there was an ancient Sumerian king named Mashkakatu King of Kish the son of Ziu-sudra King of Babel and Shurrupak and his father was called Urbara-Tutu.
The Cockatoo bird and the connection to the Sumerian king Mashkakatu and here are some other spelling variations kaketoe derives from Malay kakatua and I wonder if that is a spelling variation of Krakatoa.
Malay derives from the names Mara and her daughter Lia the ancestors of Emzara who married Noah and Ley line is pronounced ˈleɪ ˌlaɪn as in lea lain and is named for Lia “Lea" means "glade" or "open meadow" and the ancient Chinese called them Dragon Lines according to them when the lines cross each other their energy spirals into a vortex and the Chinese Dragon symbol represents good fortune and energy.
      Lamech as in Ley-mik
LEY farming in which grasses and legumes are grown for hay, silage, and pasture in proper rotation to meet full livestock needs and to enhance and maintain soil fertility.
The hoopoe also called Huppe which was sacred to the ancient Egyptians, and they are depicted on their walls and tombs and Huppé is also the name of a Quebec company which derives its name from Hapy "Hapi" which based on my research his descendants founded the Hapiru and Hopi tribes and his brother Qebehsenuef and his wife Kebechet is where the name for Quebec comes from and he Huppe bird connection to the Huluppu tree that grew on the banks of the Jordan and Euphrates rivers.
The Hawaiian god called Kane? (son of Adam and Eve) and goddess Laka and her Hulu dance and the name for the Huluppu tree and the mother of Lilith was called Lilake also known as "Lily Lake" and by the name Zanabaq and the connection to the Zanaki tribe of Africa a Bantu tribe of Tanzania located to the east of Lake Victoria and Atun the brother of Naamah who married Noah and his name was spelled Atum which has to do with "a tomb" and the name Adam and the word Damah is found in the Bible and damah is pronounced daw-mam' which is a primitive root; to be silent (my interpretation) deceased.
Luluwa the ancestor of the Luluwa tribe of Congo, Africa and she was also known as "Kalmana" the daughter of Adam and Eve and the connection to Kaimana in Waikiki, Hawaii and the name Ki KiKi the wife of Noah and the mother of Enlil and Enki and they descend from Tiamat also known by the names "Thaláttē" and "Thalatta" and she directly descends from K'thaal "Thaal" the son of Enosh and grandson of Seth the son of Adam and Eve and Seth married Aklia a spelling variation of the name KALIA found in Honolulu Hawaii and the Aku Aku spirits of the Rapa Nui of Easter island which was named for Ishtar the daughter of Nannar Suen which matches the name of the parent language Siouan of the Waccamaw tribe of America and Siouan is pronounced ˈsuːən and the Rapa Nui represents Ranginui "Rangi" "Sky" and Papatūānuku" "Papa" "Earth" and Nui is a spelling variation of "Nuah" and "Nu" the nicknames of Vishnu also called "Fishnu" and Narayana and Nara means "water" "man" and Yana means "vehicle", "vessel", or "abode" "home" as in the biblical Ark and the name Noah means "rest" and "nuah" or "nua" means lazing around or resting.
Atun married Hazina and according to Bantu legends, the first man was born from a plant, he came from phragmite reeds, but he most likely emerged out of the phragmite reeds that can grow to a height of 20 feet rather than born from a plant.
Hazina, Tanzania is named for Hazina and she is the ancestor of the Hadzabe "Hadza" tribe of Tanzania based on my research.
There are about 35,000 dolmens located on the Korean peninsula alone and according to experts Dolmens trace back to Western Europe (Japheth's domain) and are dated to 7,000 years ago which is about the 6,000 BC time period.
A dolmen or portal tomb is a type of single-chamber megalithic tomb, usually consisting of two or more upright megaliths supporting a large flat horizontal capstone or "table".
Based on my research the word "adamah" is where Dolmen comes from and the name of Adam in the Miautso language of China is "Dirt" meaning earth or clay, the substance from which he was said to have been created. (Not saying that he was made this way but that is what the ancient people believed)
According to legend Adam was a giant created in a cave by 300 angels (scientists in a laboratory or medical facility with a door that appeared similar to a cave entrance to the ancient people) and when we are born humans have 300 bones and cartilage but later in life due to fusing bones, we only have 206 bones, so it appears the ancient people acquired this information from someone that had to have advanced knowledge of how the human body operates.
If not a real laboratory or medical facility, then a cave converted by the ancient people into a primitive like birthing center (My Interpretation)
Adam was born on a dirt floor of a very large cave surrounded by 300 members of his immediate family, and this has led to legends that his name is connected to the word dirt.
(Continue with the connection to Peru)
Piri Reis his real name was Ahmed Muhiddin Piri, and he had the Turkish title of Bey and the Ottoman Turks trace back to central Asia where the Scythian Avar's that descend from Avor the son of Togarmah and grandson of Gomer the son of Japheth.
Perieres King of Messenia notice his name is similar to Piri Reis and he is the son of King Aeolus the ancestor of the Aeolians the son of Héllen and grandson of Deucalion and Pyrrha daughter of Epimetheus and granddaughter of Japheth the son of Noah now we know why Deucalion the grandson of Japheth (known as jā'feth because he and his family built the port of Jaffa one of the oldest ports on Earth)
Pyrrha wife of Deucalion who survived the great deluge described in the bible and was the son of Prometheus, grandson of Japheth (Iapetus) and great grandson of Noah.
Pyrrha "pyramid" and a funeral pyre, is a structure, usually made of wood and both derive from her name.
Perida one of Solomon's servants is mentioned in Nehemiah Chapter 7 Verse 57 and he was also known as Peruda mentioned in Ezra Chapter 2 Verse 55

Mexican flag has that symbol as well...I find it ironic or interesting because I heard from my mother and grandmother that the Aztecs who settled in Mexico or those particular races actually came from India into Mexico through canoes. And across the Bering straight, guided by a spirit that told them that they would find a great land once they found an Eagle devouring a snake. And that when they came to what now modern day Mexico city that they saw exactly what the vision foretold and they built up Mexico's ancient modern city into an empire.

@@JR-bx3vk I'm a Christian and studying these things does not dissuade me in my faith. However, there is nothing wrong with seeking out a variety of information in an effort to weave together the bigger picture regarding our past and future. There is little doubt that certain key pieces of information were withheld and left out of the official biblical canon. This was done by men, not by God, in an effort to better control the minds of the people. At the time Jesus walked the earth, The Book of Enoch was extremely popular and was considered mainstream gospel. Why do you suppose they left it out? If you go back and research various mythologies, you'll find that many of them are telling a similar story regarding the Giants/Nephilim (such as the Greek Titans). If you can remove the blinders of what you "should" or "shouldn't" look at, you'll find that many of these ancient cultures were telling similar stories, just with different descriptive colors. It's the sign of a curious and intelligent mind to be able to entertain various perspectives without necessarily taking them on as your own beliefs. Just because I study these things doesn't mean I take them on as my own belief system, but it does often bolster my faith in positive ways.
Regardless, I look forward to the day when these mysteries are revealed and we all get to celebrate with God in His triumph of good over evil. In the meantime, I'd encourage you not to judge people before seeking greater clarity on them. Blessings to you... 🙏

I always did actually find the story of Enoch very interesting, it was something I obsessed about for a short time when I first hear about him & that first little mystery in the bible when you realize for the first time everyone named in the list before and after him were clear they died, but not Enoch. I was like, What's that all about!? lol Then I went down the rabbit hole. For me though I think there are very good reasons it didn't make it into the bible because it can easily misdirect & mislead. I see how.

The Israelites were given the first alphabetical symbols( language) and numbers corresponding with the letters at Jebel El Lawz (mt. sinai) from the hand of God to Moses. It is believed this system, the first of its kind, made its way to Greece via the Phoenicians. I have become the healthiest individual I ever have been and have progressed so much more than what I could have when I was being held down by Christianity. I was HEAVILY involved in church and mission trips/etc and it also helps when discussing with my old friends and family as to why I left and where I'm at now. As usual, MUCH food for thought. Your fans are grateful that you’re doing all this homework for them! I’m an oldster and I did a dissertation on Joseph Campbell years ago, and read Eisenman’s stuff on The Dead Sea Scrolls to help deprogram myself from Christianity, so I’m familiar with some of this stuff already. You ask the question whether we could think of any parallels between the Greeks and the Bible; I thought of LOTS!
    Pandora = Eve.
Jason and the Argonauts wandering the Aegean = Moses and the Children wandering in the desert.
David and Goliath = Odysseus and the Cyclops.
David and Jonathan = Achilles and Patroclus.
Agamemnon and Iphigenia = Abraham and Isaac.
The lost continent of Atlantis = Noah’s flood.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that so much of this stuff ends up In Hollywood “hero cycles.” Star Wars, The Road Warrior, even John Wick. And I’ve often suspected that J.R.R. Tolkien used Enoch, along with the Norse Eddas, as “background” for the “theology” in “The Silmarillion.”
And it’s surely the case that Hollywood films keep giving us endless reissues of the two Homeric heroes. The lone crazed avenger whose best buddy gets it, and the lovable rogue who outwits his foes and goes back home to the girl he left behind him.

In fact, that contrast had occurred to me years ago, and what also occurred to me was what this said about the monotheisms that derive from Zoroaster - they all do, really - and Greek culture and “The West” that came from it. Lucifer is the bad guy, and you’re not supposed to follow his advice to think for yourself. The way to practice virtue is to just shut up and do as you’re told. Prometheus is the good guy, and what he gives us, knowledge and self awareness, and valuing our freedom, runs totally counter to what religions want for us. Yes, this really is a clash of civilizations.
As you may remember, Shelley remarked that Milton was on Satan’s side even if he didn’t know it. That’s why.

41:47 interesting point. I have considered this connection of long lives before. Consider the theory that before the flood, the Earth was in a Golden Age, written as being before the separation of the waters, when a mist protected the Earth from the sun's rays... Combine this with the Zulu theory that yhe Moon was s placed in Earth's orbit, which would cause the mist to fall. Or combine these with what we know from the Tablets, that the Anunnaki who stayed on Nibiru aged much more slowly than those who came to Earth. Something about the sun's intensity causes people to age faster. Another theory states that Earth used to be Tiamat, a much larger planet that was hit by the elliptical orbit of Nibiru (see Sumerian creation story aka The Celestial Battle), and used to be between Mars and Jupiter...

Once again I can only say thank you so much. this is a bunch of ramblings which is probably nonsense however I figure the longer it is the more it might help your algorithm. Thankfully I don’t have a fundamentalist background however as a student at UNCG in the early 80s I was constantly exposed to those wanting to convert me in my dormitory. Equally in interested in religion but not in the mood to convert I found myself far more interested in the Greek orthodox service I visited than the church of Christ. One was mostly in Greek and I had no idea what they were saying and the other one was just praising their congregation in rhyming lines of the sermon. It took me a while to catch it but once I did in some ways I was impressed and others totally turned off.

I have often thought that Enkidu, friend of Gilgamesh, is a memory of an ancient "wild man of the forest." Perhaps a pre-human species, like maybe H. Neanderthal. You are describing Gilgamesh as a larger than human person. Could he, and giants, be the memory of another ancient pre-human species, say H. Denisovans? Some scientists speculate that Denisovans were larger, perhaps much larger, than our species, H. Sapiens. Thus "giants"? I am convinced that myths in Genesis (e.g. Noah's Flood) date to the end of the last ice age, 12,000 or 10,000 years ago. It is not impossible that some individuals of ancient human species, like Neanderthal or Denisovans, survived into that time! Tus got included in the long oral tradition to ancient Sumeria and writing!
Note again, according to Wikipedia, Gilgamesh's home city of Uruk was founded around 5,000 BC, that's 7,000 years ago and "mythically" not that far from the last ice age of 12,000 or 10,000 years ago. It's very obvious that some of the ancient Sumerian, Babylonia & Genesis myths are related to the rise of agriculture (Cain & Able) that replaced the earlier nomads & hunter gatherers that occurred during the period between 12,000 and 7,000 years ago!

Some scholars, by the 1890s, had suggested the city called Enoch in the book of Genesis, is recalling Sumerian Unug, later called Uruk. Cf. the following notes:
"Apparently the honor for the 'earliest" association of Cain's city of Enoch and its land of Nod with Uruk goes to Professor Sayce (1846-1933) of Oxford University in England (Oxford Professor of Assyriology) who by 1887 had identified Cain's (his Kain) city of Enoch with Uruk, which had been earlier called in Sumerian (his Accadian) Unug (his Unu-ki or Unuk) and the city of Eridu preserving the names of Irad and Jerad, other descendants of Cain:
"Its earliest name was the Accadian Unu-ki or Unuk, "the place of the settlement," of which the collateral form Uruk does not seem to have come in vogue before the Semitic period. If I am right in identifying Unuk with the Enoch of Genesis, the city built by Kain in commemoration of his first-born son, Unuk must be regarded as having received its earliest culture from Eridu, since Enoch was the son of Jared, according to Gen. v. 18, and Jared or Irad (Gen. iv. 18) is the same word as Eridu."
    (p. 185. "The Gods of Babylonia." Archibald Henry Sayce. The Hibbert Lectures of 1887, Lectures on the Origin and Growth of Religion, as illustrated by the religion of the Ancient Babylonians. London & Oxford. Williams & Norgate. 1897, fourth edition. Reprinted by Kessinger Publishers of Whitefish, Montana in paperback)
Hastings (1894), in agreement, apparently, with Professor Sayce (1887), that Cain's city of Enoch is Sumerian (Akkadian) Unug or Unuk and Genesis' Jared/Irad is Eridug/Eridu:
"...Uruki...a Semiticised from of the older Akkadian name, Unu-ki, Unug, "the city of the land," i.e., metropolis, which, allowing for the guttural pronunciation of the first sign...is an exact equivalent of the Hebrew...Here, then, the first city of Cain is evidently identical with...Unuk...Jared...Irad...is...Eridu...Eri-dugga, "the holy city"..."
    (p. 353. Vol. 5. James Hastings. Editor. The Expository Times. Edinburgh. T. & T. Clark. Oct. 1893-Sept. 1894)

I'm really looking forward to this watch, but I feel compelled to comment beforehand that the reason I absolutely love Enoch and his gospel is the sheer audacity of it. Enoch was a scribe who claimed that God came to him and told him that he was the _only_ honest scribe, and that he was _such_ a good (and humble!) scribe that he was chosen to be God's scribe, and subsequently, God's own literal _voice_ . The brazenness of this just blows my entire mind.
