I also quit social media for 2 years (2015-2017) then went back on after the birth of my 3rd child. I actually found your you tube channel looking for inspiration to quit again when you quit last time! I haven’t had Instagram for 8 months now but Facebook was harder to quit as I’m from Scotland but live in Australia last 11 years so it’s a good way to keep in touch with everyone back home but I can use WhatsApp for the people that truly matter so I decided 2024 FB would go too and so far so good! I’m in Thailand at the moment with my family for my birthday and it’s an Insta dream but I’m so glad I can enjoy it and be present with my family and now worry about getting the perfect photo to share. You Tube is something you could do once a month, a lot of you tubers I subscribe to so that and it’s honestly enough if you enjoy creating videos. God has been putting this on my heart for a long time and I need to listen to Him, I know it’s for the best for a million reasons. Social media causes us to have a distracted mind and we aren’t made to be so connected to everyone’s lives every single day. The content you are talking about creating going forward sounds perfect 👌🏼
I love that you have taken those steps and also are wanting to listen to the Lord’s leading in this area! I know He has good plans in store for you and I’m excited for you!!
I completely understand everything you are saying! I struggle a lot with consuming other peoples lives so much to the point where it affects my own creativity. It's scary how addicting social media can be, and especially how distracting it is from completely surrendering to the Lord.
Declaring you, your family and your career blessed. I came across your channel and what a breath of fresh air it was. A TH-camr being real, honest and most of all glorifying God. The world needs more of this. Keep doing what you're doing girl and staying steadfast on the Lord. ❤
Thank you for sharing this! When I was still on Instagram, it was helpful for me to post on a desktop or laptop rather than use the app on my phone - I found it was so much easier to simply post and not get caught up in scrolling.
Thank you for sharing your heart with us. I broke up with Facebook two years ago and Instagram four years ago. It was a great decision. There are a few influencers here on TH-cam that I can only watch in moderation. They make great content , but I usually feel like I'm not good enough. A few months ago you recommended the book Seated with Christ, it's a great book and it's helped me a lot. 🙏
I completely relate, I’ve had to unsubscribe from a few people because my heart just needs a break. I’m soo glad you like Seated With Christ! That book helped me so much!
I totally get where you are coming from. You always inspire me to grow closer to God in what you share. I appreciate your honesty as I struggle with the same things.
I have had this feeling for long time and today i had deleted the social medias that I use way to much! I need to spend more time with God n not on social media.
I deactivated Facebook a little over a year and a half ago, and I haven't regretted it. I rarely miss it, and it has been so freeing. I found myself getting angry and frustrated everytime I was on. I got sick of seeing passive aggressive comments between people, and my strong opposing opinions on issues caused me to look at people I care about differently. I didn't want that. It just got unhealthy. I have noticed a huge difference since not being on. I love Instagram, but I know that if I even open it, I can go down the rabbit hole for two hours easy. I'm very careful about when and if I open it.
I can totally relate to those same feelings about Facebook! I unfriended about 500 people because of the constant hostility that I would feel any time I was in the app. I mainly use it for marketplace now
I’ve been off socials since the 1st and it’s been so wonderful!! Definitely have more peace of mind and it cuts down on the comparison you so often do when you’re on it. Planning to stay off for a while and then limit my time better❤
That’s amazing! It really does help clear your mind and even just in the past weeks I have noticed a huge difference in my heart when I’m not looking at what everyone else is doing every day!
You already know I can relate to so much of this. I love hearing what God has been teaching you 🤍
Thanks Kaci 🫶🏼

YES! It affects creativity of free thinking, and definitely distracts from surrendering to the Lord!

I am about to limit checking Facebook (until my next road trip) to in the morning and when I need to look at my photos.

I’m doing this after tomorrow because tomorrow is my 31st birthday
