Ive had instagram and tiktok deleted for quite some time now. I can say it helps me focus on my own life and not to waste precious times just scrolling! Deleting social media has is one of the best decisions ive made.
That’s awesome! It’s astonishing how much time we can spend mindlessly scrolling isn’t it? 🤯 I’m looking forward to being more present in ‘real life’ too.
i’m so glad to read a comment like this because none of my friends get the crisis i feel in my brain whenever i reactivate instagram (the only social media app i have) since i’m addicted to it but am aware enough to be disgusted by it. i just deleted it permanently:p
@@hearts4pinkie_ - you’re not alone, I just deleted the IG app off my phone too. I was off IG for 3 days and was wigging out lol 😅 then went back to it yesterday and today I just realized I’m done.
I came across your video to see if anyone else was doing this in 2024. Social media makes me feel so insecure about myself and I need to work on loving myself and it’s getting in the way. Like I genuinely just recently started feeling bad for living in an apartment and not a house. In this economy too 🤦🏼♀️😂Im 27 and just became a mom 6 months ago so the only thing that is going to bum me out is not posting my son for family members I don’t see often. But this did encourage me because you’re very right about being able to connect in other ways. I think that’s a better thing too. It forces me to become closer with people and it’s really quite sad how we think posting a picture on social media is the equivalent to keeping in touch with someone. I just subscribed and I’m excited to watch someone else doing the same thing!
Hey! Thanks for sharing your story, I really hope being off of social media helps you gain more confidence in yourself and your life 🫶🏽 Congrats on your new little one! I agree with you about sharing photos of our babies (mine was born in April 2023!). I’m looking forward to seeing where this journey takes us! 🫶🏽🥰
There’s a really interesting book called “the shallows “, what the Internet is doing to your brain. What I find is, people who spend a lot of time on social media, when they’re off social media, their headspace is still online and not in the present. Sometimes they cant stop referring to a video they saw online, they can’t put down their phone at dinner, they can’t turn off their phone, and they develop this distraction syndrome where they can’t concentrate fully and get anxious
Thank you for the book recommendation, I’m going to try finding it at my local library! It’s unfortunate what social media addiction can do even when off devices.
Good job I did the same a while back. I never looked back, I feel like a weight on my chest has been lifted. Learning toLive in the moment & have quality friends quality way of living. ❤
Good Luck to you ! It’s awesome when you be present with your authentic self! I gave mine up in 2016 and never had it ever again. Love to see more and more people getting away from those awful life draining systems! ❤️
I absolutely agree and feel the same in every single aspect you mentioned- so I did the same- deleted every social media account and app and will finally finish some stuff before deleting Instagram finally! Not using those apps made me so much happier and feels lighter
So many good points! I feel the same way about a lot of what you said and have been doing my version of removing myself from these apps. I haven’t deleted my accounts yet, but I have stopped posting to them for about 7 months now, while I decide what I want to do with my business long term. You are very wise!
Grateful that this resonated with you! I think I’m in a similar situation with Instagram, my account is still public but I haven’t opened the app since early December last year. I do go back and forth with the idea of using it in future for business endeavors, but not decided yet. Would love to know how you move forward when the time comes! Thanks for your kind words.
@@HaleyVillena Thanks for your reply. I will keep you posted. I am contemplating experimenting with ads to see if that is a viable way to get business to my website in a more sustainable way.
Hi Haley, this is so inspirational. I've stopped posting on FB/Instagram for a bit over 2 years. But still have them on my phone as I occasionally use FB market place, and use Instagram to get inspiration for painting/learning new stuff. I catch myself scrolling down to FB for number of times without realizing it. Everything you said is so true and right on point. It's a very brave decision especially with your job. Count me in to this journey and I'm looking forward to it
First of all I’m so proud of you taking that leap. Social media can be so overwhelming. Your mental health is what’s important and you do what makes you happy. I wish you the best.😊👍🏽🙌🏽
I also left Social Media a couple of weeks ago. Prior to that I did some research about how Social Media works and how it affects our behavior and lifes. Somehow I already knew, that it wasn't "so good" but now I know it is even worse ... Greetings from Germany and all the best! 🙂👋
Absolutely! As an actor/ filmmaker & artist my biggest issue was that the algorithm had such constraints. When you think about it they pay nothing for their content. And for all the issues that you mentioned. I will move my content to TH-cam. Wishing you the very best with your work. 🕊️🕺
I also believe that focusing one’s time on high value activities, and more time on high value interactions compared to low value activities and low value interactions, whether it be on social media or in person, can make a HUGE difference in one’s productivity, happiness and overall wellbeing and peace of mind.
Several years ago I got booted from Twitter (long, stupid story). I was sad for about a week. It wasn't long before I didn't miss it at all and realized what a toxic environment it was. Now you couldn't pay me to go back. If it weren't for me keeping in touch with some friends across the world via FB and IG, I'd toss those as well. Right now I'm just snoozing everything/anyone I don't want to see on FB for 30 days to see how that goes. Good luck to you!
The classic ‘you don’t know until you know’! The apps can take such a hold on us over time. I’ve had several people ask if I miss IG/Tik Tok and I always confidently respond ‘not at all’ which seems to surprise everyone 🫣 Thanks for the encouragement. I hope the snooze features work as they’re supposed to for you!
Considering doing this due to the election year being a big part of it. Things unfortunately always get wild on these years and I would rather be not all in the know.
Yes, yes, yes! Thank you. You hit all the reasons why I've been seriously considering ending my relationship with social media. Did you inform your followers and post that you were leaving these platforms? As a micro biz owner, I'm wanting to know the best way to go about it.
I’m glad I’m not the only one! Honestly no I didn’t inform my followers, I just left. Tik Tok & Threads were deactivated but my IG page will remain public for a little while even though I’m not active on it. I just left a link to my TH-cam page in my bio. While I don’t think a ‘good bye’ post was right for me, it could be for you as you may want to direct your followers elsewhere to find you!
i was deactivated my Instagram and Facebook last week because i want to detach from online activity that make me exhausted. and i just broke up so i need heal myself more time to realize and letting go the things that make me hurts
I've also deleted all my socials but i now want to start a YT channel, thing is how do you now get followers on YT without social media i don't know if I'm making sense i hope someone does though
It’s totally possible! The majority of my growth on this channel is from within TH-cam as well as through Google search. There are lots of articles online that will be helpful if you’re just starting out ☺️ wishing you well!

I agree! Thank you.
Leaving social media is my New Year’s resolution! I did it back in 2017 and miss the absolute freedom and peace I felt. I hope you find the same!
I’m so happy for you! I’ve been off for not even 2 full weeks and I’m already getting a taste of those feelings 🤭
I had the same resolution this year. So far 9 days of this year and I feel absolutely new, stress free, and beautiful. We can do this 🙏🏼
I need to delete mine soon
I want to build the courage to do this too! Social media is messing up my mental health. Good Luck!
