    Another fun time. Thanks ladies.
Carol, I'm so sorry you've been sick & I'm truly hoping you've been able to to rest a bit so you can enjoy Market. I'm not a jealous kind of gal but you all meeting up with Terri & Jamie is really making me envious. 😀
I hope the trip is a good mix of work and play. Travel safe!

Good to see you ladies, and today in NH it was another snow day! We've also had a rather snowless winter, but Mother Nature seemed to dump a few storms our way just at the end of February. I love it, but would also enjoy it throughout the winter. Sorry you aren't feeling great Carol, and hope you are better and ready to go in Nashville...how exciting! Have a great time, and do enjoy spending lots of money...that belongs to other people!! Great comment Jenn!! :). I love the Little House Needleworks Snow White stitched on navy, so pretty, as well as the Rondo, that is also gorgeous. Great stitching and finishes! Safe travels, and have fun in Nashville. I tend to use over dyed floss and DMC.

What a lovely valentines quilt. I hope you leave it out for a while. I like stitching with cotton…DMC is only marginally ahead of overdyes. Have fun next weekend.

I really enjoy stitching with silks. I have used a couple of the Vicki Clayton silk conversions. But I am happy to use what is suggested by the designer. The quilt is beautiful. The fully finished projects look great. Have fun at market.

Love the heart quilt, and to think it was made by friends, makes it even a more beautiful quilt. I am a cotton only floss user (DMC), but I have used silk, and dyed floss and just don't like working with them. Have a good time in Nashville, but remember you need your rest to, so no late nights at "girl talking" LOL. Safe traveling.

I have only used cotton thread but I recently tried some over-dyed, I like the look but it seems more delicate to work with probably due to the extra dyeing process. What a beautiful quilt! I love the idea of having the Bee make you quilt blocks and then build a quilt from all those blocks :) Jen, you are doing a great job raising your daughter to be her own person and speak her mind with poise and respect - congratulations to her for going to testify in support of legislation; what an accomplishment at 17! Good to see your progress on your WIPs, and I love the pillow finish you did, Jen, with the flange detail. So cute! I prefer stitching with cotton flosses, as I typically stitch one leg of the X down the row and then come back across; when I do this with over-dyes, the variation doesn't show up as well as if you stitch each X separately. Plus, it's nice being able to stop in at Joann and grab what I need - I don't have a LNS close! I hope to see you at Market; I'll be helping in Lindy Stitches' room :) Safe travels and happy stitching!

Love your Valentines quilt! I use regular DMC for everything and am very happy with the new colors in the 4000 range (color variations). Some look like speciality dyed thread with the slight variations. I wash all of my work before ironing and worry the specialty thread colors will run. Also, they are more than I want to spend and the DMC often goes on sale.

Happy you are going to market. Take your comfy walking shoes and a wheeled bag or backpack to haul your purchases in.
My favorite threads are overdyed cottons, but only the three major lines no others. NPIs are great too, but not for everyday stitching. I love your graphs and data ralk.
Congrats to your daughter. Tell her to save this weekends video she will want it to watch over and over throughout her life. You are so proud of her, it was sweet.

Wishing you bot ha fun and safe trip to Nashville with Sue and the other buyer for your shop. I really like your Valentine quilt. I like stitching with variegated overdyed floss to get the color changes for animals, shadows, etc. in my stitching. I also like Au Ver Soire for stitching on higher count fabrics like 40-56 count as it is a smooth stitch and doesn't catch on my dry hands. I really loved your Snow Scene on the navy fabric and the white frame really made it pop.

I am so sorry you are ill, Carol!! I have that, too. I am starting my third week with this nonsense! I have asthma, though, which makes things settle in my lungs. My husband had it for about 1 1/2 weeks. Ugh!! Your floss question is difficult. I love the ease of DMC because I do the loop start when possible. I’ve never used silks yet. But I love the variegation of overdyed floss!! I will stitch the one-stitch-at-a-time way to take full advantage of the variegation, but am not a fan. LOL I guess I like both equally! Sorry!! Hope you had a great time at market! Loved seeing pictures of you! Happy stitching!!

Carol, I hope you get well quickly. I started getting sick in mid January, felt better than got hit hard again. I still have a cough but it is better every day. I'm sick of being sick :)) You were talking about snow, here in Southern CA on the Mojave Desert where we get snow about every 5-10 years or so we got hit today. Sadly though it is all gone already. Our last substantial snow was in Dec. of 2008. That was about a foot & took several days to melt. I'm a DMC stitcher. Mainly because it's what I've had from when I stitched back in the 80's & it's cheap & easy to get. I do have some Weeks & Classic Color Works but so few of them that I haven't used them much. Have fun in Nashville.

I'm sure you're going to have a great time both at Market and on retreat. My friend Jeannette Douglas will be there with beautiful new designs -- among so many others. RE: Flosses for stitching: I have some silks and have used them, but they're expensive to buy and a bit tricky to use, so I generally prefer solid colour cottons (DMC) and over-dyed or hand-dyed "fancy floss". I've been collecting for years and have inherited DMC from two friends who've passed away, so I don't order much now -- at least, not before checking my stash! I've also found in with my quilting thread a part-spool of Sulky 12-weight in a variegated blues/greens, and am going to try it out on a monochromatic piece. It's said that 1 thread = about 1 1/2 strands of DMC, so we'll see how that works out.

Weather wise we're getting it all here in rogue river, Oregon. I do love it when it snows though. Carol I knew before words were said that something was up with you. I hope that you'll be feeling better soon and that you'll be able to get your sass back. As far as thread goes it depends on the pattern I'm working on. If it's a geometrical design pattern I usually go for the dmc bold and bright, otherwise I'll tend to lean towards the variegated when doing outdoor scenes with houses and plants. Good luck at the fair and if you see Kimberly Jolly from fat quarter shop would you please say hello from me? Thank you for your videos they are a always a treat to watch.

Another beautiful quilt behind you today! And some pretty FFOs and WIPs. Glad you're feeling better, Carol. Your needle question was interesting, and like Jennifer, I'd just use what I had around or kit needles. This week I've been stitching Petite Treasure Braid on a kit pattern, using the kit needles. I found the braid was fraying way more than I remember it doing. Maybe manufacturing of it has changed, but I switched to one of my Bohins to see if it made a difference. The PTB didn't fray as quickly so I was able to use more of the strand I'd cut. I think with some of the lesser needles, the inside of the eye isn't filed smoothly as that's what I'm thinking the difference is. Best wishes to the princess on hearing from the rest of the colleges. Hope you both have lots of fun at Nashville! Take care, and happy stitching.

That's really interesting about the needle difference - you're probably right that the higher cost brands put more effort to the eye.

Thank for mentioning me! If I can locate you on Instagram I will definitely share hound pictures 😂. We call them hounds but they are not hound dogs. We have mutts and a couple pure breeds.

When you know you’re not going to have enough hand dyed floss to complete your project, (your green) I would use the DMC equivalent for all your bottom stitches and use your hand dyed floss for the stitch on top. This works great and makes your hand dyed last a lot longer and hopefully to the end of your project.

Overdyes ! I have bought a few silks to try ..... but they're still waiting for me to find the perfect time to start!

I am fairly new at stitching have only used cottons. Really enjoy your flosstubes. You stitch the kinds of things I like although I have stitched two medium to small samplers. Enjoy the Nashville market!

What a pretty February quilt❣ I like ball tip needles as well 😀
I hope you feel better soon💗
I love backstitching because it transforms your projects!
My absolute favorite color combo is blues, greens and purples based on my favorite flowers: the Tennessee iris!
I love DMC, but I purchased silks for Thistle Do Nicely chart and they are so soft. I hope my dry hands won't be an issue!

My favorite floss is silk, and I am in a monthly club of variegated silks from Victoria Clayton. I also use a lot of cotton (mainly DMC). Enjoy Market and safe travels! Hope you are feeling better, Carol.

Can't wait to hear about Market! I was trying to stitch from stash this year and have failed miserably. As a matter of fact I paused this video and went to ebay and bought 3 of those washboards for my HOD laundry charts that I have yet to stitch! :) My favorite floss to stitch with is overdyed cotton floss. I am not a fan of silk and I definitely don't like the price point.

Great video! Hope this note finds you feeling better. Interesting question - I’m usually stitching with cotton & like you prefer the over dyed. I do have several projects kitted for 100.3 & Soie d’alger. I’m not sure yet how that will go. I love silk but dry hands make it challenging. I also haven’t tried Sulky yet. So much to do - so little time!!!🤣🤣🤣❤

I stitch mostly with overdyed floss, but I do love the feel of stitching with silk, just not the price point. So excited for you that you will be going to Nashville! Have a great time! Hope you are feeling great by then, Carol.

Frank Bielic, the husband, from Mosey n Me passed away. An interesting fact: Frank was one of the designers on the show Trading Spaces on HGTV. I like cotton floss.

@@twotallstitchers yes he was on the show for many years. He was a great interior designer. He died of a heart attack in his early 70s. I met him and his wife a long time ago at a cross stitch vendor show when I went with my friend.

Enjoy your trip to Market! My favorite floss would be cotton. Just hate the way you have to stitch with overdyed floss.
