Being a huge Linkin Park fan I loved the reference. It actually references two songs from Hybrid Theory: "One Step Closer" and "In The End."

I noticed the reference on my first watch through of it on TFS's channel (noticed it half-way through Gohan's bit). That said "One Step Closer" and "In the End" are two of my favorite songs by Linkin Park (who are one of favorite bands) so it'd only be natural that I'd pick up on it.

I'm hoping he suddenly transitioned to the voice of his later years past puberty, but I doubt it.
Considering the utter failure that was his attempt at a threat, I feel like he's suddenly going to be an utter master of insults, cutting sass and all around badass. Like Cell is, but better.

Also in the original manga, goku explained that for each new form, he always loses a little bit of control and become more violent. I think TFS is going that way, but with intelligence!

No, you guys have got it all wrong. It wasn't anyone from the crew that sang this. It was a guy called Paulo Cuevas, whose known for doing Spanish and English cover for songs mostly from anime.

The Falconer version is the soundtrack to a badass explosion of rage and sorrow.
The Japanese version/this version is the soundtrack to a boy growing as a character and becoming a man.
I like them both, but this was way more appropriate for this scene.

Really? I find the Japanese version too plain. To me, the singing ruined it. When it comes to emotions, understanding them without words has the best effect.

Because you grew up with music being all about the beat and nothing about the words, like every 90s born. If you look up the lyrics of soul vs. soul you will find, it matches the scene flawlessly. "Surpassing yourself and fighting the darkness" it fits the scene. Faulconer's score is pretty much of representation of 2000s music, because it puts the beat first and the lyrics second. In fact, it even has some word being muttered in the background that have nothing to do the scene. It is pretty much a representation of what 2000s music has devolved into.

Please do not group every person born in the 90s together. Most of the people I know are 90s born and only a small portion of them don't care about the quality of the lyrics. Even those who don't really care about what they listen to mostly agree that songs were better back in the days.

Last I heard episode 60 could be the final episode of dbza. Ever since Dragon Ball Super started in 2015 they have been having a lot of copy right issues with Toei animation. That's why it's been over a year to get a new episode.
That and TH-cam changes have really hindered them. Also, it's because the episode is over an hour, that's why the year wait.
So them abridging it is wrong, but Mr. Popo in DB Super going all like DBZ A if fine?

In Europe we had kikuchi's soundtrack, and the music was the same for the ssj2 transformation, but it was instrumental version, no lyrics, it was very epic. Ask everyone outside America they'll say the original soundtrack (Japanese) is >> Faulconer's (not production, japanese ost is way older, but musically speaking). But I understand people that discovered DBZ with the American soundtrack prefering it. Because of nostalgia, and it works both ways (Europe with Japanese ost and Americans with Bruce ost)
Ya man Kikuchi version is way better compared to the Faulconer's imo.
Falconers version works with ssj3 and vegeta but the original works for ssj2 so they are both as good as each other

I normally agree that Faulconer has good tracks for DBZ, but that song completely trounces it. Hey, even TFS has admitted that Faulconer's Perfect Cell and Final Flash songs were top-notch.

For Gohan's first SSJ2 transformation scene, Kikuchi's song on the Japanese version (as well as the English cover shown in this particular video) was better.
However, when you go with Goku's SSJ3 theme, Vegeta's Super Saiyan/Final Flash theme, and Perfect Cell's theme, Faulconer's version was better.
DBZ soundtrack can be a mixed bag in terms of regionality (if that's even a word AT ALL, lol).

This episode is why I love Team Four Star and DBZ Abridged. Yes, they do some really funny stuff, BUT. The epic moments are still epic. Goku's transformation into Super Saiyan. Vegeta's Final Flash. And now Gohan's transformation to Super Saiyan 2. There's only one more epic moment left. That final Kamehameha. And I KNOW they will knock it out of the park. If 60 is the last of DBZA, they're going to end it on a high note.
It fits perfectly! Not everything has to be loud and in your face!
The song doesn't fit the original Japanese version of this, with how sad the scene is supposed to be. It does however fit the TFS version. Especially since this is a two-parter. Everyone knows what happens in DBZ, so the feeling of sadness that people get from 16 dying just doesn't come out. They took a different route, and I am glad for that.
Sasuke, how it does not fit it? This is a sad and a tragic moment for Gohan, he finally sees where is pacifism leads, to the pile of bodies of those who chose to stand up and fight for what dear to them, while he chose a "moral high ground" and watched events from his safe place. He finally saw the flaw of his morals and saw that last words of 16 were true, that pacifism is a flawed concept, this cover that TFS made of this song fits the scene perfectly.
This song is great in my opinion. I love Bruce Faulconer, but honestly I think this fits very well, and whoever did the lyrics, good job mate.
The song was written specifically for the moment so obviously its going to fit.

I must admit I originally hated soul vs soul , but it’s grown on me
I think both musics for the transformation have their bonuses
Falconer version is more mysterious , ominous and fearful , which really is good for those who didn’t expect this moment , just like the people there besides Goku
Soul vs soul is more emotional , like a moment of destiny finally happening after years of build up.
But honestly the mystery nature falconer is the reason for me it will always be better. Because youd never expect it from Gohan despite all the hints

But for any people who prefer immersion or are watching blind falconer fits better
Because you two grew up with the English version and the Faulconer score gives you much greater nostalgia feel. However, most of TFS and myself included probably hear soul vs. soul first since we are older. We also heard it during a time when the lyrics mattered in music. It has such an impact because the song capture the moment so perfectly. So its hard to accept Faulconer's as better, since it pushes the beat upfront and the song in the background. And I have zero clue what are the words being said in Faulconer's score. This is why I still like Soul vs. Soul better.
0doublezero0 actually in a recent fan of dbz , the abridged was my first full dbz experience ,then I looked up clips of major events , watched the various versions of them , then I git xenoverse 2 and it stuck from there , so I don’t have any nostalgia I can tell you

Oh wow you must be really young. I watched DB first in 94 and DBZ in 96 as kid. I then watched ahead a few small clips of Cell Saga and Buu saga on my crappy dial up internet. So seeing Gohan transform with the Japanese music had a greater impact. The words of songs were far more emphasized back than now. So I don't think of the words making the song worse, I think they make it better. It is why the older generation feel much more impact from Soul vs. Soul and the younger feeling more impact from Bruce Faulconer (where the music comes first and lyrics comes second).

The continuation of DBZA or even a DBSA is currently unknown and up in the air. They haven't officially said it won't happen but at the very least the days of DBZA taking priority over all their other projects ends with this season of DBZA
Also i know people forget but remember all the screen time that android 16 did was played with birds and that's why that bird was there to show gohan that android 16 really did care about the planet and its nature ways.

According to the Articles I've read a few years ago they have gotten so many cease-and-desist orders from Toei Animation that I believe they stated that they were only going to be able to go to the cell Saga and they were going to end the parody there. It's why these two episodes are going to be 20 minutes or more in length
They posted a few couple second clips on Twitter at one point, but ultimately since Super has officially ended they may in the future. The only issue is that Super is still relatively new so it might be a while before they can touch it.

In the actual show. Cell says it himself he didn't know any of that would happen. He was as surprised as the Z warriors. That one cell surviving, him regenerating back to his perfect form, and also gaining the power of super saiyan 2
