Yep, as soon as you asked what could possibly be done with six inches on the ground, I started humming the Wagner. It is the only thing majestic enough to accompany the valiant work of the little tractor. What a stroke of luck to find that bolt. Sounds like Hilarie had a lovely birthday with peaceful snow, special lunch, and satisfying chores. Many happy returns of the 32nd, which does seem to return about this time every year. I loved to hear the sound of the cows munching away on their supper when we turned out the lights in the barn of a winter night. Sometimes when I crawled into bed I would think about them out there, snuggled into their beds in the cozy darkness. Much better than counting sheep. Billy Boy, cross fingers, say a spell, and knock wood, the future of hogs on these Few Acres is up to you, go with God, my man, go with God....

I know doing everything on the farm probably takes most of the day - but doing everything and then filming has to take all day. For that I say thank you, it’s appreciated. You bring great perspective from all the different shots, and the sound is always kept at a good level. It’s a pain - but you always do it - thank you.

If someone is disabled, they can't hit that button..live cams make people more peaceful..they might have worked on a farm .remember their younger years. I used to plow my road with a Farmall Super C. Nothing more pleasant than going under a snow filled tree banch and have it fall down your neck. Also setting your butt down a frozen metal seat made sure you were awake. Good ol' days. I really like my pickup for plowing these days.

By the way, my father used to paint bolts, screws etc. in bright spray paint for just such a circumstance as you encountered. Even a light spray of turquoise or orange made the bolts/screws that escaped easier to find. I was always the one tasked with finding them so I appreciated not going blind while searching. This years barn set ups are so much more efficient. Lots of planning and work----great results. You do give your cattle a contented life. Not just what they need but what they want for a comfortable life. You are good folks.
As I watch this video while having my morning coffee in my glider rocker and a winter storm outside the window , it takes me back to my youth. The farm smells, sounds and sights come vividly to mind. I remember sitting in our barn on a winter night with the hurricane lantern burning and just listening to the cows eating while I enjoyed the peace and tranquility. I don't know if you remember but I lived in Rochester and I remember as a kid the tractors I'd run out in front when I heard them coming plowing the sidewalks with a V plow You know watching the cattle I can see where this might be their favorite time of year. I mean to get food brought to them and most of all they don't have to put up with them. Pesky flies see you on the next one
That much snow would shut everything down here in NC. There wouldn't be a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk for miles around. 😁

Happy 32nd Birthday again, Hilary! The cows are happy, the pigs, not so much, though Billy is hopeful. Up here in eastern quebec we are waiting for the storm to hit today, snow, rain and wind. Like you, more rain is forcast so the main goal will be to remain upright when trekking through the icey terrain. Im already looking forward to Spring. 😉
