Just from this list, Hush Yael. Others: Underoath - Writing on the walls + Casting such a Thin Shadow. Bring me the Horizon - Hospital for Souls. Thrice - Image of the Invisible. Oh, Sleeper - Children of Fire + The Rise, Resolve - Between me and the Machine
@@WIERTARA2137I was about to type Satellites, but you beat me to it lmao Satellites was actually the first song I heard by Periphery, a friend recommended it to me while I was just getting into metal so he sent me a song that’s half calm and half total chaos. Jake, if you’re reading this, thanks so much dude!
Every time I hear 'Gone with the Wind' I get so nostalgic instantly. From the first note, I get teleported back to the show they played in Frankfurt after Tom died where everybody was just singing and crying along. That concert made me feel almost any emotion one can imagine and, to this date, nothing even comes close in terms of atmosphere. Definitely a masterpiece. Two other of my personal 10/10 songs would be Thornhill - Where We Go When We Die and Currents - The Place I Feel Safest.
The Contortionist’s Exoplanet is a one of a kind true masterpiece! Epic, pounding, brutal, beautiful and so on! Just classic! Mentioning it can affect instant subscribing! 🤘
Deadass though, I remember listening to the high note into the breakdown for the first time and uncontrollably honking my steering wheel with my forehead
10/10 songs for me personally. I won’t list them all because I have so many lol. But here’s a select few that fit the genre and my reasoning for them being perfect imo. Bring Me The Horizon - Doomed Perfect opening to their most accessible album in That’s The Spirit. They now have it in their encore at every show I’ve seen them perform. The strain in Oli’s voice on that “I think I like iiiiiiiiiiit!” Chef’s kiss! Architects - Doomsday The amount of recent metalcore bands that have taken inspiration from this song is insane. The video where they look up at the sky and see a bright light, supposedly representing Tom, cuts like a knife. Sam’s vocals are on point and for this to be the first song released since Tom passed away and still be this good says a lot about the band The Dillinger Escape Plan - Unretrofied An amazing multilayered song from an incredible band. Half of it is like a radio rock song and then there’s the screams from Greg Puciato who still remains one of the top tier vocalists in heavy music. This song definitely makes me miss Dillinger though 🙃 Deftones - Swerve City That riff is to this day one of the catchiest I’ve ever heard and Chino’s vocals on top of it make this a perfect song. They were on a run of not necessarily bad albums, but also not their best work and for this to be the lead single of Koi No Yokan was a sign of what they could still do when at their very best If anyone had read all of this then I appreciate it and welcome other people’s opinion. Give me one of your own picks and I’ll let you know what I think 😁
I was never a big BMTH guy but Doomed was certainly on my radar. However I recently saw BMTH at Sick New World and I can honestly say they made a believer out of me. Great performance and wish I’d seen Doomed live. I’ll have to catch them next time.
@@UnderJOath I appreciate the feedback and even more so that you got into the band when previously not being a fan. They’re actually my number one all time and I’ve seen them 3 times, all in different stages of their success. Most recent was January this year and they had Bad Omens as main support. That show kicked ass!
100% agree on Flourish by The Contortionist. All these years later and that whole middle section still gives me chills every time. Same thing with their song Oscillator. Exoplanet and Language are absolute masterpieces.
I cant believe you didn't mention Aviations - Outliers (maybe in part 2) I agree with your periphery pick for sure, there are several others by Periphery that you could argue 10/10, just such a phenomenal band. Also, I was thinking about what songs I would give 10/10 and I think all of them are prog bands, (dream theater's Octavarium comes to mind)
Big nostalgia hit from that Thrice pick. Was happy to catch them live at Leeds festival back in Leeds festival 2008. Edit: oh my god BTBAM is another nostalgia hit.
I dig that Protest the Hero added to my playlist. Love learning about new bands. That’s why I enjoy your channel! Keep it up. And thank you for all the new Music. 🤘
Flourish by The contortionist is one of my favorite songs too and I totally agree with you that that harsh beginning is required to appreciate that bridge so much. But that bridge is like you said one of the best pieces of music that I know of it's just so amazing and gives me chills like every time. I wish I could convince more people who don't like metal to listen to it .
Man, Stranger Things will always be my favorite Periphery song of all time. I’ll never forget the emotions that went through my entire body and mind the first time I heard it. I was legit speechless 🔥 Also, fantastic choice for your Thrice pick. My personal 10 from them is a tie between All That’s Left and Red Sky. The Artist In The Ambulance is in my top 10 albums of all time 💪 Linkin Park’s song “Papercut” is my benchmark for my 10 out of 10 songs. Great picks my guy! 👊
One of the first band's I was in a prog metal band I remember my bandmate at the time played me Flourish by The Contortionist and when that melodic part came in after the heaviness instant goosebumps totally agree with you Birb brilliant piece of music! \m/
I think many will agree that My Curse by Killswitch Engage is one of the best metalcore songs ever written. Least, I think it is. Stranger Things is easy Top 5 Periphery for me, but I have grown to believe that Wax Wings is their best song. Great riffs, fantastic vocal delivery, and just damn good proggy goodness! Ascensionism by Sleep Token is probably my favorite song currently. From a very unknown band, there's a song from this band called Meshiaak that really destroys! Alliance of Thieves. I get chills listening to that song, especially with the guitarwork. Danny Camilleri as a vocalist is severely underrated too.
Hahah awesome list. I couldn’t help but laugh as I went through it knowing that Selkies and Map Changes are on my 10/10 list as well as Periphery, albeit Satellites. Also pleasantly surprised to see Amia Venera Landscape pop up as I’ve been patiently waiting for their follow up for a solid decade and frequently ask for updates on their Facebook page 🤣. Figured everyone else forgot about them but me.
Seeing thrice close their set with the earth will shake something like 18 years ago was the moment that solidified them as my favorite band of all time
I still remember hearing Kezia for the first time and thinking… “The FUCK just happened.” Haha.. GOATed record for sure. And obviously you know where I stand on the Thrice boys 🖤 Solid list brother!
A few of my favs include: Vengeance - August Burns Red David de la Hoz - The Chariot Feel Again - The Ongoing Concept Numbered Days - Killswitch Engage For a recent pick Suffocate - Knocked Loose
Sick list. I was only familiar with Architects (I agree it's 10/10) and I had heard the Oh, Sleeper song once but everything else was new to me. The other songs sounded great. Here are some other metal songs I think are 10/10. 1. Architects - Doomsday 2. Make Them Suffer - Erase Me 3. Bolt Thrower - World Eater 4. Death - Pull The Plug 5. Parkway Drive - Karma 6. Deftones - Diamond Eyes
If I could come up with a list of 10 songs, it would probably be (in no particular order) 1. “The Grid” - BTBAM 2. “Permian” - The Ocean Collective 3. “Coma” - Aviations 4. “The Stormchaser” - Caligula’s Horse 5. “Cry” - David Maxim Micic 6. “Satellites” - Periphery 7. “Sunshine Dust” - Skyharbor 8. “Is it Really You?” - Loathe 9. “Vanish Canvas” - ERRA 10. “And Here’s To Many More” - Sithu Aye EDIT: Bonus “Monochrome (Pensive)” - The Contortionist

Strong agree with Architects, Contortionist and Protest The Hero ... For BTBAM I'd choose White Walls or Telos though :P and for Periphery maybe 22 Faces. I kinda prefer their short songs
I’m choosing songs that I haven’t made videos for in this series haha. I’ll make a note about it in part 2 but glad you know Outliers is for sure a 10/10
I hate this, but something that is cool about hush Yael is how it is able to be generalized. That same song could said about how insane Palestinians are being treated by the Israeli government. Unfortunately, it is as bad to the Palestinians right now as that terrible thing in 1979 😢
Man, its hard to pick a favorite Thrice song but id have to go with So Strange That I Remember You. That song has brought me to tears. BTBAM would have to me Extremophile Elite. Mastodon would be Crack the Skye. It brought me to tears before I knew the song was about Brann's little sister committing suicide. Im terrible at picking favorite songs though.
I know it has a lot of meaning for people but All our Gods didn't do much for me honestly which is strange because I fucking love Lost Forever//Lost Together...like any track besides Red Hypergiant or Distant Blue off that record beats anything from All Our Gods to me & that whole record is just so consistent in it's sound & vibe throughout. Just my two cents though of course. 🤷♂😂🤘

The story behind Yael is just fkn horrendous. Not saying israel as a country is innocent of crimes but for those saying free palestine they are just straight up sheep that dont even know the horrors of what they have committed
What song would you consider a 10/10?
Also sorry about the music being edited a bunch. Damn copyright man.

10/10 songs for me personally. I won’t list them all because I have so many lol. But here’s a select few that fit the genre and my reasoning for them being perfect imo.
Bring Me The Horizon - Doomed
Perfect opening to their most accessible album in That’s The Spirit. They now have it in their encore at every show I’ve seen them perform. The strain in Oli’s voice on that “I think I like iiiiiiiiiiit!” Chef’s kiss!

An amazing multilayered song from an incredible band. Half of it is like a radio rock song and then there’s the screams from Greg Puciato who still remains one of the top tier vocalists in heavy music. This song definitely makes me miss Dillinger though 🙃
Deftones - Swerve City

The TH-cam algorithm introduced me to this channel. Does METALBIRB mainly focus on SiriusXM Octane, liquid metal/ Americore type bands?

Loss by Devil Sold His Soul
There Is No Tomorrow by Enterprise Earth

For me The Contortionst song Oscillator is my 10/10. Nothing have been able to touch it since. Starting at 2:20 to me is perfection.

Feel that. Even when something is firmly rooted in specific tragedy, the passion conveyed can speak for any generation beyond it.
Both countries are guilty of crimes against humanity. No innocence but fuck I wish it would just stop without anymore bodies
Gojira - the art of dying is an absolute masterpiece
Omg yes

Map change is so good.
I’d personally add aeon-Crystal lake, sun eater-Lorna shore, and terminal-silent planet
I think Lamb of God “Laid to Rest” and Killswitch Engage, “In Due Time”
The Poetic Edda for sure is perfection.
I would have to add 🤔
Underoath - In Regards to Myself
Killswitch Engage - My Curse
Make Them Suffer - Erase Me
Norma Jean - Songs Sound Much Sadder
Killswitch engage for sure 🖤🎶☯️
