Man I haven't listened to BTBAM since colors because the monotone vocals set me off but, after listening to this, I need to revisit them for sure! This song in particular reminds me of Native Construct which which would be a great band for Judson to react to!

Not a lot of bands from the US come to perform where I live (Israel), it’s a very long and expensive journey.
BTBAM came here twice and performed 2 amazing shows. I also got to meet them personally in the biggest metal pub in Tel Aviv one day before the concert.
They are amazing musicians and people, very friendly, down to earth and appreciative of their fans.
I really liked them before watching them live but after the shows and meeting them they became one of my favorite bands 🤘

I love Judson's usual reactions to "dirty" vocals. Not for everyone of course, but I appreciate he goes through with it and breaks down everything else. Also would LOVE to see him react to Ants of the Sky. Long song, but so amazing.

I think Judson likes BTBAM as one of his favorite metal bands. So true though, a song like that youd have to listen to 5-10 times to fully grasp whats going on. But I think that goes with most metal bands in general
A piece like this with multiple instruments is exactly the right choice because Judson seems to be used to orchestras. I guess the really fast drum and melodic guitar songs arent too much up his alley because of the complexities and rhythms?
Anyway. Id love to see an Archspire video for shock effect [fathom infinite depths or Acrid Canon] if you need anymore suggestions which im sure theres quite a list, I would recommend

BTBAM has been in my musical wheelhouse since first hearing "Aspirations" in like 2001 or 2002. The albums "Alaska" and "Colors" are incredible, mind you... "White Walls" is probably my favorite song but "Voice of Trespass" is a solid choice.
Appreciate you loving this band and continuing to show them off, any of their stuff listened to by a professional musician is usually entertaining at minimum.

I was just thinking that I haven’t seen a BTBAM reaction in a bit and then I saw this. Should get Jud to react to something from Colors (their best album imo) - Sun of Nothing, Ants of the Sky, Prequel to the Sequel, White Walls. Might be a longer video due to song length, but well worth it.
Anything off of colors would be great; I still think Paralax 2 is their best album though. I can only listen to it front to back. Foam borne is still my absolute favorite opener of any album ever!

Side note, loving the shirt. I played 6 shows with Darkest Hour over the early to late 2000s, "Undying Ruin" is one of my favorite metal albums of all time.

Well, I think that Judson should listen to Thy Light - a depressive/suicidal black metal project from Brazil - in particular the intro called "Suici.De.Pression" (Introduction to my End) and probably the "A Crawling Worm in a World of Lies". Since it a DSBM project it has a unique sound towards the melodramatic/atmospheric sound, and therefore has piano on it. It would be sensational to see Judson giving us his enlightment upon the music itself and maybe the genre (yeah DSBM is a thing thou).

If one of their songs come on when I'm listening to stuff on random, I have to go put the album on. Have the same thing with Porcupine Tree, although a very different band of course. Just find it hard to listen to songs in isolation, because the whole album is one long majestically epic song.

As a fellow TH-camr (or maybe a lapsed one) how do you get away with playing a copyrighted song entirely uninterrupted as the main content of your video? I understand that you're adding critique at the end but the content ID scan doesn't really care about that. Do you dispute the claim under the grounds of it being transformative, or is this demonetized?
That’s a great question…
To be fully transparent, pausing for the sake of monetization causes “reaction” videos to lose their authenticity, in my opinion. I’m a big fan of other reaction channels, but pausing every 10 seconds just to get monetized seems disingenuous to me.
From a financial point of view, it’s probably not a good decision, but we’re enjoying ourselves. I (Richard) get to show my friend the music that I love and I get to hear my friend’s unique take on it. It also gives us an excuse to hang out with each other, which can sometimes be a challenge with our personal schedules.
To answer your question, 99% of our videos are demonetized. We’ve had a few here and there that got monetized, but it’s very rare. It would be wonderful if they all got monetized, but we’re making the conscious effort to not destroy every piece of music that we listen to with pauses every few seconds. We do submit disputes on every video, but that usually doesn’t matter.
And who knows? Maybe someone will offer us a sponsorship deal or something at some point. 😂 It’s not likely, but crazier things have happened.
