I have exactly the same problem on my k1200s, it seems Injector Injection Fuel Nozzle malfunction after getting hot, i used 91 octain petrol ⛽ which probably cause this breakage.

My Friend got the Service Manual on CD from Pirates Lair I believe in 2007 and there was a BMW Dealer used Scanner in the Manual and the BWM Motorcycle dealer We went to to try and get it said it was for Sale to Dealers only. I'll ask My friend to send Me a Screen shot of the manual and get back to You.
How long after start-up? I would start with the basics, like coolant level and thermostat. If your thermostat is stuck, it won't open allowing for coolant to circulate causing overheating. I would start there.

I had one hell of a time doing that with my bike too
RECALLED: this is under a recall.I have a 2012 K1300S HP that would not start after a run. The problem was fixed by a BMW recall on this situation

Sorry got lost are you trying to fix the unable to crank after a stop i.e. gas station or a stall?

I have the service CD for the bike. I've never seen a scanner tool for the bike. I wish there was one so I could reset the service light.
