      Sorry I filmed a review like 3 times now, once after a week or two of use but then coop and a few others put out good reviews but forgot a few things I thought they could've mentioned. But to give a good over view and exercise things it gets to be a pretty long video... and wasn't sure if anybody would watch lol.
      I do think it is worth it though and really do love having it in the garage. The cables got twisted a bit but I bought some swivel carabiner style clips and really did pretty much solve my twisting problem. It really smooth and super nice to just have the stack vs everything I've had before was plate loaded. Huge time saver. Only con is that I don't really use my strap safties anymore as the trolley on the front would hit them if they were on. I just use my spotter arms inside the rack so I keep the front post pretty much free. Really about the only con besides price but for a home gym where space is an issue, I'm super glad I have it and would buy it again in a heart beat if I had the cash.

    Glad to finally see a video, thank you. Please let us know if any foreseeable interferences with any attachments on the uprights with the adjustable pulleys.

    • @bradsgym1062
      @bradsgym1062  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only thing that I found that interfered with the cables were the strap safeties depending where the cable trolleys are. You have to have the trolley under where the safety straps go otherwise they'll hit the cable or have to push the cable out of the way which I just don't feel like would be good for it long term. I just started using my safety spotter arms instead off the middle post but really isn't a big deal to adjust the trolley down when using the safety straps.
      Only other thing is if you have any mono lifts you'd have to remove them to put them out to the side if you wanted to use the pull down bar that came with the Ares, otherwise it's so wide it'll hit the mono lifts on pull downs.
      Small things that I really aren't a big deal and will just be second nature to your setup once you get used to it.

    • @bradsgym1062
      @bradsgym1062  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@markhalstead2386 I guess I don't have the flip down safties and it depends which side they go on if that makes sense. If they can both flip down from the inside of the rack then they would work. My safety straps are the same setup side to side so the one side they work and the other side is where you'd have to have the trolley a little lower. Just something I think you get used to and takes 2 seconds to adjust the trolley really.

    Thanks for posting. This is the first video I've seen of the Ares - feels like I've been waiting years. Looking forward to seeing your first impressions video. Would be curious how easy it is to change the weight of each stack when you have plate storage attached to the rack. I've got the PR-5000 with plate storage and keep wondering if the plates will be in the way when I want to move the pin in/out when increasing/decreasing weight. Nice gym setup!

    • @bradsgym1062
      @bradsgym1062  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! It really isn't bad at all to change the weight stack weight with the plates in the way. I wasn't paying super close attention and put one weight stack in the way they did in the video with the head plate in the way they did which caused the stickers to have to go in the front of the pin. This just makes seeing the weight a little harder as you have to lean in a bit more to see it around the shroud if that makes sense. Overall I'm really digging it so far and nice to have the flexiblity of movements in your workout

    Did you set it up by yourself and what was the setup time like? Also, when using the low row, does the banana connector work? It looks like the low row pulleys are further apart than the lat pulldown ones. Curious if attachments like a triangle would work with the low row. Cool video and sweet gym!

    • @bradsgym1062
      @bradsgym1062  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did set it up by myself. Had my 2 and 4 year old "helping for about 30min which just slowed me down a bit. Overall it wasn't hard I didn't think, just time consuming as you have to loosen all the bolts, remove whatever else you had attached, move plates out of the way, etc. I watched the rep how to video and glanced at the instructions and it made it really easy to understand.
      The low row bar has two attachment points on each end to connect to the low pully's and also has an attachment point in the middle to connect your own attachment if you'd like. I have some the Prime Fitness 4n1 that I like to use and can connect that with the low row bar. I however do not like sitting on the floor as you can't bend your knees and get the bar to pass over them, so I felt the stretch in my hamstrings being a limiting factor vs my back. I saw a guy say put a decline bench in there and sit on that which I'll try to see how it feels. I put an extra carabiner on the low row bar and hooked it to the two front pulleys and sat on my flat bench and that felt good to me.
      Thanks for the compliment on the gym and video!

    Hey Brad thanks for the review. Just a quick question I had my Ares delivered a few days ago and I have 2 friends who are mechanically inclined going to set it up for me tomorrow, just wondering how long do you think it will take them to set it up for me approximately? I have the 80 inch PR 5000 power rack. I cleaned everything out of my garage mostly and loosened most of the bolts on the power rack for them, I did not take the equipment out of the boxes because they were numbered so I thought I should just leave them alone? I know you mentioned you did it alone and it was time consuming so just wondering if u could give me a rough estimate with 2 somewhat handy guys.? I am like your 4 yr old son I would just get in the way as I am not a handyman at all my wife is more handy than myself! Lol But I just wanted to give my friends an estimated time frame since they are helping me out for free! Thanx

    • @bradsgym1062
      @bradsgym1062  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd guess maybe 3ish hours to maybe 4, possibly less if they are quick about it and don't care about making a mess with the boxes and don't have to clean up. The boxes don't really seem to be numbered any any certain order than for maybe quality control to make sure all numbers are in there. If you loosed all the bolts and unpackaged everything I think two mechanically
      inclined folks could knock it out pretty quick.

    • @bradsgym1062
      @bradsgym1062  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't have any issues with mine thankfully. I know they mentioned something about adjusting that pulley that is housed in what I call the floating pulley that moved up and down as you adjust the trolleys but I didn't have any issues so don't know if that'd fix it or not. I will say if I have some heavy attachment on the front pulley like a curl bar it does pull the cable a it and then lifts up the head plate so if I want to adjust the weight I have to push down on the head plate to get the pin in.
      I had great luck with REP getting back to me quickly on instagram, maybe worth shooting em a message on there or try calling when they are open. I saw another person post they adjusted it so high that the head plate just sits high enough on the stack that it skips a plate. Guess that'd work too, but my ocd wouldn't like it lol

    • @bradsgym1062
      @bradsgym1062  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol I saw a bunch of people on fb asking about what boxes they'll get and what not. I'm trying to make a review but wanted to give it a bit of time and really test it out some more before putting up a review. Hopefully have one up in a weekish. I will say the cables are buttery smooth and the only thing that sucks like we probably all imagined was any adjustments of the trolleys needs to have all attachments off the front post. So J Cups, safeties, etc need to be removed or adjust depending where you want to move the trolley and if they'd get in the way. So so you benched off the front of the rack with spotter arms, then wanted to do tricep pushdowns then some cable curls off the front trolley you'd either have to set up one high and the other low before setting jcups/spotter arms up or if you wanted to use the same trolley for both pushdowns and curls you'd have to remove the bar, jcups, spotter arms before you a can move that one pulley down. Just takes a little time to think about setup if you want to be super efficient.
