Willow review of episode 5, the one where the show not only forgets it's own plot, but gives the most disgusting world view of morality I've seen in a show. The heroes cosy up to the villains, then tries to excuse their behaviour. Certainly never saw this coming, but as this is a Disney Plus show, I probably should have. Astonishing anyone thinks they can push this as a value driven show. And yes, I'm sure real world parallels are deliberate. But what did you think of what you heard? Let me know down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

It didn't really surprise me that Kitt was that awful to make that decision. But when stablehand said they wont accept the offer because they're immoral I died laughing 😂
@@disparutoo I thought you might bebeing a bit hyperbolic with the title of the video but Jesus Christ. These are supposed to be our heroes? I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
@@bkelly2310 Luckily my TH-cam only comic book series, The Pensuke Files does not make that mistake! Pensuke, the titular comic book/cartoon villain protagonist is shown as… the villain from the very beginning and is clearly meant to be seen as such.
Ah yes the "savages that literally kill innocents and bleach their skulls to use as helmets/masks and drug their guests at parties actually did nothing wrong" episode
Honestly the morales in Disney’s “content” are downright shocking to me. Unfortunately, we’ve reached the point where what most people consider “universal values” are no longer universal because the people creating these shows don’t have them. Personally, I’d never let children watch Disney any more. The lessons here I can only see creating a very self centered and arrogant person
Decided to watch the original movie after your latest review, and not sure if this counts as going back to the lore, but the daughter of the evil empress, she goes around with a quiver of only 4 arrows. It's stupid, but makes more sense.
Willow is nothing more than a teen drama with a few words of lore occasionally thrown in. Its gotten to the point now where it's not just a character, but the entire fantasy genre being used for a bait and switch. Btw I thought of you Disparu when Kit threw away her bow, and I laughed my butt off. You have objectively made this show more enjoyable!
You would honestly think that it would take 100 years before script writing dumbed down to this level, but we are all seeing it within our own lifetime. 30 years or so and we have the level of writing that we have on D+ where everything is aimed at teens on tiktok.
If my groups old GM from convention was running this game, our next encounter would be with Cage Face, now wearing a quiver on his back and shooting arrows at us from a strangely familiar weapon...
my guess is they lived EXTREMELY sheltered lives where they had very little real world experience or at least barely any suffering so their entire world view is made up from everything they've seen on tv shows, movies read in books and saw in reddit forums. People really don't know how damaging social media has been to the brains of these writers. they are severely damaged
No no, you don't understand...they were SLAVES at [as explained by the script] one point in their history. They are therefore now above judgment ever again for the rest of time. Nothing they do will ever be wrong again, because freedom.
Why am I not surprised modern day Disney is trying to pass villains as the "good guys" ... like holy shit .. they aren't even trying to hide it anymore, absolutely disgusting!
The redemption of the Bone Reavers here reminds me of the twist that the Skrulls were actually good guys in Captain Marvel. It has that same "everything you know is wrong from a different perspective" feel.
I suspect that the original intent was to replace the flame thrower's nozzle with Willow's wand, by using CGI but it was deemed as too difficult to achieve during post-production and so the standard Disney mantra was invoked; "F**k it. Nobody will notice. Let's go for our lunch break".
Luckily my TH-cam only comic book series, The Pensuke Files does not abide by that rule! In that comic book series, Good (Obey) is Good, and Evil (Pensuke) is Evil!
Yep ...welcome to Disney. "Wait wasn't the main evil character a woman? Well we can't have that....I know, she and her entire army were just misunderstood!"
I still can't get over the idea Princess & Girlfriend, who argue about all sorts of petty things, *don't seem to care* that Princess's Father KILLED Girlfriend's Father. I mean, this sort of thing is one of the most timeless, fundamental sources of conflict through myth, legends, literature, history, the conflict of love and hatred. Two children of feuding families falling in love is literally the plot of one of the most famous plays in the world. ... & these 2 silly girls don't care. It's like some kind of anti-drama.
One would think that if Ginger doenst care about his newfound father and is still thinks him bad then she wouldnt be so keen to join rebels who still fight in his name after 20 years.
The 'romance' scene felt so fake, as you said it's not even their first kiss, but the set up made me think of a stage play where they know they're not supposed to kiss because someone is going to interrupt them but he's missed his cue and they've run out of dialogue so they're having to improvise while they wait.
The girls asking if its OK to kiss the other is reminding everyone to get "Consent" first, even if you are already romantically involved..LOL Plus they needed more LGTBPEDO representation, so we get this rehashed scene.
"We were never the baddies. We were enslaved and we owed Evil Sorceress." "But, you killed our companion back at the barrier. And are those *human* skulls?" That guy was never seen again.
It really is an indefensible show, and from a viewer perspective it doesn't carry the same popularity as other topics so they have no reason to fake it I guess. It is at that perfect level though of a lot happens in each episode, while being bad enough to be funny but not boring.
@@disparutoo The r/Willow subreddit has been shut down, effectively. The sub's mods all quit (due to negative feedback posts), so now you can't post. Lol, what a contrast to r/MarvelStudios, which is a *heavily* moderated pro-MCU echochamber.

I knew as soon as I saw that ginger afro in the trailer for this show that we would be getting heavy doses of "The Message". I wasn't disappointed, as 15 mins into the first episode they made it clear that the men were the but of jokes and we had the 2 strong diverse female characters that were far above being besmirched in any way. Lowly kitchen girl?? No worries!! Consider yourself the new most powerful sorceress in the land!! Ginger afro - most powerful warrior in the village!! Californian accents and present day language to be liberally used in fantasy setting!! Let's do it!!

The show is set nearly 17 years after the film. That means both Kit and Jade are at most 16 years old. and Elora 17. Remember that when you see them drinking and fighting fully grown men.
I dont even need to know their ages. Theyre women. It doesnt matter if theyre 16, 26 or 36. They obviously cant be warriors. The feminist writers are delusional.
@@LikexnerWomen can be warriors. But it doesn't mean they all are. These two in particular might not look like they can swing much more than a dagger, but there are women with powerful builds who can keep up with average men. Just not the monstrously powerful ones.
@@xFlareLeon You are comparing the strongest of women to AVERAGE men because even you know a trained male warrior is leagues above a trained female warrior. Its a bad comparison. Average men are not warriors, although they can certainly be made into warriors. Its not just about pure strength, although that certainly is important. Its about being strong while also maintaining agility. Strong women are bulky and awkward compared to equally strong men. Men have better reaction speed, spatial awareness, and the innate ability to coordinate with other men. Men have honor and loyalty. A male warrior will sacrifice to defend his tribes women. A woman will NEVER sacrifice to defend men. You simply cant depend on women to defend your tribe because what they have always done is lay down and open their legs for the invaders. Thats why they were considered property, because they behaved like it. They _could have_ chosen to fight to the death just like their men, but they didnt. Thats how men were able to get the so-called war brides. Invade another tribes village, kill the men, and the women would ALWAYS surrender. A woman thats equally strong to a man will always have to be bulkier to achieve that. She will not be as agile. She also still has weaker bones, no matter what. She also will still menstruate. These are all big detriments. There is literally nothing a woman warrior can do that a man cant do better. Using women as warriors is as stupid as using poodles for guard dogs. Lets stop the cope.
Regarding the "Evil, Magic Forest" issue, my impression was that the idea of the forest being cursed with no one returning from it, was another layer of... call it deterence from the Skull Reavers. That is, the forest isn't actually magic, it's just that the Reavers are killing everyone that enters. Which... kinda makes them even less "misunderstood minority" and more "Death Cult," and also begs the question: why would the clearly supernatural minions of evil have not only been aware of this reputation, but actually been detered by it? This show is a master class in terrible.
Yeah, I haven't watched this show at all, but it seems to me that what's actually happening is the Skull Reavers are just murdering everyone who enters. Although apparently there are trolls as well? The trolls are probably doing their share of the murder as well.
It also presents another problem: If the forest isn't actually cursed, and is just inhabited by Robyn Hood and her merry murderers, why don't the Crone's minions pursue them in there?
Something that really annoys me.... aside from just about everything in this series.... is that they use modern music and covers of modern music in the series.... it kills the fantasy feel even more and feels so incredibly out of place.
YES! I don't watch the episodes - only Disparu's reviews of them. And even I'm like 'STOP IT.' at this point (especially the romance scene - brief few seconds of the clip but it had the modern music very noticeable and I literally clenched my jaw.) Even if you're using already made pieces of music (no Howard Shore composing here) - there are many incredible pieces of fantasy style music out there. Just TH-cam search it - one of my favorites is David Arkenstone. No reason for the modern music in a fantasy show.
100% agree. The soundtrack does not fit. At all. The end of episode 4 where Arik emerges from his cell in the abandoned city to a girl sung rendition of Black Hole Sun, I legit was like wtf, no.
I am pretty sure this episode is written by a woman just by the part where Elora tell Kit to just apologize, for something she didn't do, for something she had no controll over, for something she didn't even know, demand apologies even when you don't understand what you did wrong. That is 100% woman's logic
Like your girlfriend/wife having a dream where you cheated on her and now she's mad at you as if you actually did it in real life and demands you apologize for cheating on her in her dream even though it didn't actually happen?
@James Van Oss yes And she would rationalize it as subconscious hints she picked up during the waking hours. Even though it is completely made up by her insecurities
@@Vossenator Tell her you'll apologize for it in her next dream. Then insist the next morning that it happened and she just forgot the dream after she had it.
So based on this show and RoP, the main thrust of female leadership in these fantasy shows is - abandon any companion the moment they become inconvenient or there’s potential profit in it.
'Protagonists get captured by sinister-seeming group who turn out to have a love-hate history with one of their members who didn't return to them' is such a shamelessly regurgitated trope. This is the kind of reluctant, braindead slop I'd come up with if I had to do a writing assignment even though I hated writing.
'You didn't tell me a secret you knew about my past which I can absolutely never forgive you for, until I completely forgive you for' is the other tedious trope filling in the rest of this episode's so-called 'story'.
Regarding the Bone Reavers, I'm looking at the title for Knights Watch's review, titled, "Episode 5 wants you to LOVE EVIL PEOPLE!" which echoes what Disparu says here. Also, reminds me of the Harfoots in RoP. I don't understand what Hollywood is doing. Are they really this clueless? How can you make something so awful and not be aware of it?
That brownie woman is wearing a onesie I've seen Japanese girls wear a few years ago. The costuming is terrible lots of regular clothes just slightly messed up
I'm willing to bet the abductee brother is actually the mastermind behind this situation. I think the series is building towards that considering they're already trying to ship his gf. Plus he's a straight white male there has to be something wrong with that.
yo you stealing my idea from one of the early episode review? you're even using the same reasoning as i did to predict it. though to be honest these writers are that predictable at this point i am not surprised people are coming to the same conclusion.
"Tell her you want to get better, and you'll be waiting for her" This is knows as Telling Her You Can Change. It's a common strategy among people whose only real concern is getting laid.
*RIP, Jørgen Kase, high knight of the Capalcade of Tir Asleen.* Your courage and wisdom are not forgotten. _(old knight in the fellowship that was killed in ep 1 for mansplaining. @__43:39__)_ _[Kase addressing the Queen and court, in reply to an injured Commander Ballantine:]_ You are the commander of the Capalcade. >> The fellowship makes peace with the Bone Reavers. They celebrate this by throwing a spontaneous forest rave.... >> However, the murder of Jørgen Kase [the old advice-giving knight from ep 1] is not addressed, nor are reparations discussed with any member of the Bone Reavers. >> Toth (the skull-masked leader of the Bone Reaver party that killed Kase) is now on a first name basis with Elora, and is a fan of Elora's cooking. He and his party are now considered military allies to the fellowship.
Because Killing the only competent, non evil, white man was the show runners first listed point to make. “Make a show of ending the only Competent Man”… Check. The show runners have now admitted in an interview, that Willow is not the star of the point of the story. The Most Important Story is The Lesbian Romance. Everything else is just meant to facilitate them telling the romance in a fantasy setting.
Psychopath writers all try and blur the lines of evil behaviour because they see themselves in the villains. Look at the number of psychopathic leading characters that have appeared since the world epidemic of narcissism.
They tried to make Cersai who was evil forever somehow less evil than Daenerys who was evil for two episodes. They avoid anything that could make women look totally toxic.
More than the individual writers, it's the institutions where they're educated and employed (the universities and the entertainment industry and their obsession with deconstructing all aspects of what had been the status quo).
I'm further and further convinced that at some point in the future they'll show a group of teens around a table playing D&D, because this is exactly it. No thoughts other than about themselves. No concerns for any "NPC's", just Murderhobos and a blue-haired schitzo DM who doesn't give a fuck about anything else than _her_ story. It also explains why Willow refuses to cast spells. "Look, I'm a wizard, I've got like 5 a day and I'm not going to waste them in case we run into a dragon."
In episode 1 didn’t the princess complain about the arranged marriage because of the stable girl & threaten her mom they were going to run away together?
"Who wrote this shit?" is a question that you should not ask every 5 minutes of a series. There is a whole freaking chain of people who have to sign off on this stuff, yet somehow this makes it through... and Firefly only had one season...
I'm puzzled on why they're having Elora talk like an American when the actress (Ellie Bamber) is British. Was it because Kit's actress (who's pretty inexperienced) failed at talking like anything but a modern young American, so they had Ellie Bamber change *her* accent to match her? Also, re the convenient Brownies and the equally conveniently discovered sister- in the 1988 film, one of the most fun parts is when Willow and Madmartigan escape from the baddies by using a shield as a sled. Imagine getting out of captivity using ingenuity rather than huge coincidences!
29:56 I'm sorry, I'm still stuck on the fact that the woman is wearing a MODERN PRINTED T-SHIRT in this "medieval fantasy" world. The only thing more shocking to me is how few people seem to notice enough to point it out; or is the show just so bad that something like that doesn't even register? Literally no one involved with this abomination is even trying.
OMG! I got so suck on the flamethrower, that I had to read this 3 times then check! I totally missed that! Plan as bloody day! What is this show even?!
I was watching the first episode (i think it was the first one) and they are on a field, galloping away from a group of bandits (? I forgot) and the eldest person in the group is shot and I presume dead? There was not even one instance of regret, grief, sadness or honoring mention regarding this person, who from what I understood had always been with their family and was a close aide to the prince. It was so disturbing to me how they moved forward right away with not even a little mention of what happened that I didn't watch the next episode. I know this is a review to episode 5 but it popped on my feed and I wanted to vent. Thanks for having my comment P.S. i have no idea if they mention their companion in the following episodes but it still makes no sense to be delayed. Even a brief mention would have been enough (like them looking back and yelling his name or something of the sort when they were escaping, but we had nothing.)
Disparu has the greatest collection of review vids on TH-cam, in my opinion. Halo, Wheel of Time, ROP, She-Hulk, Kenobi, and now Willow. They’re all fantastic! I didn’t even know Naomi was a show, but your review of it was hilarious. Congrats on all your success and thanks for all the entertainment.
Re: Elora's dating advice, keep in mind this is a female writer putting words in the mouth of one female character talking to another, having her say that the best way to make up with a woman is to apologize, even if you didn't do anything. That's the least woke 15 seconds Disney has put out in three years.
Even villains believe themselves to be the heroes. But there is a difference between self-serving good, and the greater good. Moral good is objective and the audience (should) recognise it. Heroes stand for the greater good, not the selfish good of what serves them. The characters in Willow all seem more interested in what benefits them.
Just discovered this channel yesterday and have spent the day binge watching these reviews. This show is bringing so much entertainment that we need since we can't have good fantasy tv shows or movies anymore.
Willow: These people only murder people and boil their skulls because they were opressed, and so made a deal with the evil sorceress, who wants to destroy the world, in exchange for their freedom. Doctor Who: Well that's alright then!
Apart from all the other crap, one of the WORST things is modern-day props like flamethrower, the T-shirt and the glasses that just not just break immersion but makes me wonder how on EARTH did this show get approved for viewing?
Why is the leader of the skull boilers wearing barely disguised military fatigues? Was their budget really that low that they had to dig through the shelves of an army surplus store?
I'm an archer, NO you CANNOT run with a nocked arrow, and drawing the and firing it on the run is practically impossible (at least accurately) it's difficult enough to hit the bullseye of a 60cm target (smaller than a human head) at 30 paces when you're standing STILL !!! Running I'm surprised the arrow went in the general vicinity of him, when you take all the physics into account. I'm sure Shad has something to say about it as well.
I’m an archer too. It wasn’t so much the attempt to loose on the run, rather the fact that she just dumps the bow afterwards. A real archer would have had an attachment to that thing, they wouldn’t just throw it away.
@@benjiwis5228 first of all Horse archers were not aiming for individual targets, they were loosing a hail of arrows in the general direction of the enemy whereas kit is trying to aim for an individual. It is possible to shoot accurately at an individual target from horseback, but it takes YEARS and YEARS of practice (but that's another post entirely). Secondly Horse archers were shooting in the same in the same direction as they were travelling. Kit is running in the opposite way. Bear in mind that to shoot accurately your draw arm needs to be in alignment with the arrow from the elbow down. Assuming she's drawing with her left hand the physics of the shot in the show would send her arrow waaaayyy off high right of her target given that she appears to be twisting around (you also need firm footwork)

In Raiders of the Lost Ark though, Marion was an actual bartender for years. It makes sense that she can outdrink most people. It doesn't make sense here with Kit.
@@patriciafenwick5846 Cheers! I also thought of that scene from Raiders. There's also a scene from Feds which is similar IIRC. I'll predict the end of the show. Kit and Freckles return triumphant and announce their wedding. Sorcha says, that's great, but where's your brother? Kit responds Who? Meanwhile the prince finally escapes the baddies and makes hos way home. he sees Elora and tells her every moment of captivity he thought of her. Funny story, we were on our way to rescue you and kinda forgot half way.
This whole situation is feeling a bit like a romcom to me. The usual plot: 1. Woman in stable, if a little rocky, relationship with perfectly suitable guy. 2. Woman meets True Love--either a past love or a new one. 3. Woman begins emotional infidelity, sometimes mild version of physical infidelity (like making out), rarely (but sometimes) full-on adultery. 4. Woman cannot deny her feelings, but oh noes, she is in Stable Relationship that is suddenly stifling her. 5. Perfectly Suitable Guy conveniently is revealed to be unfaithful in some way as well. 6. Movie forgets she was cheating first, she breaks up, and goes on to live happily ever after with True Love. I'm feeling like there's going to be something like that in this show.
@@ChallengeIdeas Sometimes they don't even show suitable guy as bad. He is just boring so that is the only excuse she needs. And when you look at the True Love they are wildly terrible. Why they are all horrible

I'd like to point out that Elora asks Willow if he can "Divinate". The correct term is "Divine". If any of the writers read any fantasy at all, they would know this.

It takes a lot of upper body strength to be an archer. So it's always seemed strange to me that the archer characters in games are often female. It's not something they could do very well, especially with period weapons. It's silly here too.
The average draw weight for target archers is 50lb for men, 40lb for women. They can do a lot of mischief if you have no protection. A war bow is generally anything above 90lb. You have to be pretty massive to pull one of those successfully.

So I thought arrow girl dropped the arrow..... but no, she attempted to notch it from the underside of the bow and then they jump cut to her having the arrow on top of the bow. They couldn't even have her raise the bow up and twist it to vertical. Wasn't she supposed to be trained? The main problem with this show is that too much of it is written like a tongue-in-cheek goofy comedy. On one hand we’re expected to take it seriously, on the other the writers keep winking at us - like nothing actually matters. It’s just a dumb show. It’s made up bro'.
It also presents another problem:
If the forest isn't actually cursed, and is just inhabited by Robyn Hood and her merry murderers, why don't the Crone's minions pursue them in there?
@@ladyerind199 Yeah that was awful and the cover of enter sandman was terrible as well. I don't get the music choices at all in this show.

I am pretty sure this episode is written by a woman just by the part where Elora tell Kit to just apologize, for something she didn't do, for something she had no controll over, for something she didn't even know, demand apologies even when you don't understand what you did wrong. That is 100% woman's logic

The reason why Boorman was not stripped from artifact by Skull Reavers is because showrunners forgot it existed lol
The actor that plays boorman seems like the only one that see the quality of the show and is trying to just have a good time.

The drinking contest with Kit reminded me of a similar scene with Marion in Raiders of the lost Ark. Coincidence? Anyway, your reviews are so on point and hilarious, really brightens up my day.
In Raiders of the Lost Ark though, Marion was an actual bartender for years. It makes sense that she can outdrink most people. It doesn't make sense here with Kit.
@@darkengine5931 Yes, absolutely
@@patriciafenwick5846 Cheers! I also thought of that scene from Raiders. There's also a scene from Feds which is similar IIRC. It's a 1988 buddy cop film starring Rebecca De Mornay but it also makes more sense there since her character is a seasoned marine and heavy drinker, and she still almost vomits soon after the huge guy collapses.
@@darkengine5931 ahh, I haven't seen that, so I can't compare.

Kit and Freckles return triumphant and announce their wedding. Sorcha says, that's great, but where's your brother? Kit responds Who?
Meanwhile the prince finally escapes the baddies and makes hos way home. he sees Elora and tells her every moment of captivity he thought of her. The thought of being with her again kept him going, and gave him determination to escape. Elora responds: Oh right, about that.. I found someone else. Another prince actually. Funny story, we were on our way to rescue you and kinda forgot half way.
This whole situation is feeling a bit like a romcom to me. The usual plot:

Don't temptate them to go read books.
Well he said divination and she hadn't heard of it before, so the character would naturally say divinate.
Not really a writing problem.
'Div' was an insult back in the 80's.

It is honestly outstanding how much of a mask off moment this whole episode is.
Wait how are they still slaves? They have their own village where they do as they please & even go out to subjugate others. Does disney not know what slavery is because this seems to be the complete opposite
It takes a lot of upper body strength to be an archer. So it's always seemed strange to me that the archer characters in games are often female. It's not something they could do very well, especially with period weapons. It's silly here too.
Draw weight is a myth, don't think about it, it'll be fine.
Yes even an old fashioned recurve bow takes strength and skill. I actually learned how to shoot a bow on a recurve then moved to a compound bow.
We learned from 'Rings of Power' that fighting is all about your feet. Muscles have nothing to do with anything!
Say that to real female archers, but yeah this series sucks.
The average draw weight for target archers is 50lb for men, 40lb for women. They can do a lot of mischief if you have no protection. A war bow is generally anything above 90lb. You have to be pretty massive to pull one of those successfully.
I'm more excited for these episodes more then the real episodes

Back in the day, I'd have to watch a film like Trainspotting to see a guy crawl out of a s#*t encrusted toilet.
Now? It's on family friendly Disney Plus-- oh, wait. Did I say family friendly? Let's see, use of swear words in Moon Knight and Andor... sexual promiscuousness in She-Hulk.. all right, so Boorman crawling out of a tub of s#*t is perfectly appropriate for Disney Plus.
It's a shame they didn't have Ewan McGregor do it in Obi-Wan Kenobi. HE'S the one who crawled out of the toilet in Trainspotting! The opportunity was RIGHT THERE!
Well... Obi-Wan did swim through sewage in Tartakovsky's Clone Wars shorts.
Really is too bad about season 2. Was genuinely looking forward to it. You tearing down Willow is a favorite past time.

Han Solo went back to being a irresponsible scoundrel and smuggler, who needed to be redeemed by a young lady who taught him the way again.
Luke Skywalker became a sad, self pitying, coward, who turns his back on everyone and everything that ever mattered to him and had to be redeemed by a young lady who taught him the way again.
Obiwan Kenobi became a scared, uncertain, bumbling, fool , afraid to do anything, who had to be redeemed by a young lady who taught him the way again.
Indiana Jones became a sad , tired, defeated shadow of his former self who had to be redeemed by a young lady who taught him the way again.
Mad Martagan is now a vile, demonized, horrible villain who....gasp.....kills evil raiders who attempt to violently take over a kingdom.
Willow is a sad, illusion of a man, who is not what people think he is and sees himself as a lying poser.
Who wants to bet that Martagan and Willow will be redeemed by one or more of the young ladies in this " heroic" band???
I downloaded the episode but then deleted it and watched your review instead. One of my best decisions of this year.

So I thought arrow girl dropped the arrow..... but no, she attempted to notch it from the underside of the bow and then they jump cut to her having the arrow on top of the bow. They couldn't even have her raise the bow up and twist it to vertical. Wasn't she supposed to be trained?
But this is exactly how I imagine someone from California being faced with danger would react.

The main problem with this show is that too much of it is written like a tongue-in-cheek goofy comedy. On one hand we’re expected to take it seriously, on the other the writers keep winking at us - like nothing actually matters. It’s just a dumb show. It’s made up bro'.
It shows a lack of confidence from a production that knows it doesn’t have the skill to pull off any real moments of drama.
What's ignored in the flamethrower and Willow being a mediocre wizard is that he did gain actual magic power once he became confident in himself and his ability to do magic, but he gained that confidence by using a mundane trick when his magic wouldn't work.
straight up gave the man a *flamethrower* and even had the never to have him blow on it after using it....I half expected him to bust out some shades after that. If he isn't rocking a AK by the final episode, I am gonna feel lied too.
