Not Microsoft, actually. Most of your PC budget goes towards hardware parts, none of which are made by Microsoft. Ask yourself this. Do the devs of games really like exclusivity to a single platform or would they prefer complete market saturation for their product? Can you imagine how many copies God of War would have sold if it went multi platform? There is no way you can build a comparable gaming PC for the same price as a XSX or PS5. Anyone who games on PC knows this. This video (Q TV) is the example of people THINK they know more without doing any objective research.
This guy's logic is bass ackwards. The console's are absolutely a good deal and you couldn't buy a comparable pc for even close to the same price. A 1tb gen 4 ssd is around 200 and 3700x is over 300. That's over 500 for just the ssd and the cpu. That's no gpu, mobo, case, power supply etc. So getting anything specced close to the series x will be well over 500.
To be fair the 3070 is comparable to the series x and the 3700x often 220 at microcenter (although this is an instore only deal) it will be a more expensive upfront but over a few years with steam sales and free online you will get your money back he just did a really poor job explaining (also sence most games dont have better load times with a pcie gen 4 compared to a sata you can save money there and then buy the gen 4 when its price drops) but yeah from the upfront cost the series is much cheaper Edit:changed 3060 ti to 3070

Can I just say I'm not expecting a mid cycle refresh honestly. The reason we got one last gen is because 4k TVs blew up and honestly I dont see 8k TVs becoming the new norm withing the next 6-7 years. It's not impossible but to me it's just unlikely. Maybe 8k will become the norm buy the end of the ps5 and xbox series x lifespan but I think that its gonna be to late into the next gens lifespan. Idk if I'm making any sense but it doesent really matter.
I can see Xbox doing a mid cycle refresh.. especially with the all access. Given its a 24 month plan.. it would fall nicely to release a new gen as that ends.

@Quadsword you are comparing the more expensive option to a cheaper option atleast compare it to digital ps5... + Gamepass is like 100€-120€/year it is a good deal but you still need to buy the games that wont be on gamepass its not a magic wand that gives you every game. For me I barely spend 100€ for games in a year. So financially both console will be almost as expensive for me if it WOULD be my FIRST consold EVER. But because I happen to have BIG PS4 game library it is much cheaper for me to buy a ps5 and have my own library rather than having a service that selects what I can play + building my own library for the games that isnt on that service. I do think gamepass has incredible value for many people. 45€ a year for multiplayer and 24games is enough for me. I barely have time to play half of them.

As someone who's enjoyed many ways of gaming I agree with the op.
I genuinely didn't like this channel about a year or two ago, but in the last six months the uploads have almost always been spot on. Ask yourself this. Do the devs of games really like exclusivity to a single platform or would they prefer complete market saturation for their product? Can you imagine how many copies God of War would have sold if it went multi platform? There is no way you can build a comparable gaming PC for the same price as a XSX or PS5. This guy's logic is bass ackwards. The console's are absolutely a good deal and you couldn't buy a comparable pc for even close to the same price. A 1tb gen 4 ssd is around 200 and 3700x is over 300. That's over 500 for just the ssd and the cpu. That's no gpu, mobo, case, power supply etc. So getting anything specced close to the series x will be well over 500.
To be fair the 3070 is comparable to the series x and the 3700x often 220 at microcenter (although this is an instore only deal) it will be a more expensive upfront but over a few years with steam sales and free online you will get your money back he just did a really poor job explaining (also sence most games dont have better load times with a pcie gen 4 compared to a sata you can save money there and then buy the gen 4 when its price drops) but yeah from the upfront cost the series is much cheaper

Can I just say I'm not expecting a mid cycle refresh honestly. The reason we got one last gen is because 4k TVs blew up and honestly I dont see 8k TVs becoming the new norm withing the next 6-7 years. It's not impossible but to me it's just unlikely. Maybe 8k will become the norm buy the end of the ps5 and xbox series x lifespan but I think that its gonna be to late into the next gens lifespan.

I can see Xbox doing a mid cycle refresh.. especially with the all access. Given its a 24 month plan.. it would fall nicely to release a new gen as that ends.

+ Gamepass is like 100€-120€/year it is a good deal but you still need to buy the games that wont be on gamepass its not a magic wand that gives you every game. For me I barely spend 100€ for games in a year. So financially both console will be almost as expensive for me if it WOULD be my FIRST consold EVER. But because I happen to have BIG PS4 game library it is much cheaper for me to buy a ps5 and have my own library rather than having a service that selects what I can play + building my own library for the games that isnt on that service.
I do think gamepass has incredible value for many people. 45€ a year for multiplayer and 24games is enough for me. I barely have time to play half of them.
