    This is absolutely the best most detailed home made fence I've ever seen. I'll be using this to upgrade my horrible one that came with my saw. Thanks!

    Fantastic creative craftsman without use of fancy shmancy equipment and totally down to earth. HMR appears to not be available in my area however and its better than MDF for sure.... Overall about as wonderful as a TH-cam DIY creation as can be expected. Clearly this is an engineer who does woodworking!

    This is a really good video of a really well done project. I usually don't like that kind of artificial voice, but you used it only as needed to add to the video. Turns out it's good for that. Nice sound track, too.

    I made a similar one last year. I put my spirit level along the blade and scribed a fine line across the table in line with the blade to use as a reference datum. To do this you need a new blade that is absolutely true, I checked the blade with a dial gauge first.
    I also checked that the slot was in line with the blade with the dial gauge at the same time.

    Hi love this build and planning on making this. I have a question though as I may be missing something. Why is there such a big gap where the angled steel sits 03:12? Wouldn't it be better to just be the thickness of the steel (3mm) so it sits in tight so there is no play at all?

    Theres a lot of wiggle between near and far edges. You'd have to measure each, the check square every time - right? Same as OEM fence? Wouldnt it be better to, after first lip, install or route a T/miter track on that, square n/f mitre guides, and it would glide evenly?

    Hey there buddy, hope you and the family are good. I have a Dewalt contractor saw- model DW745 and want to install a longer fence on it. I've built the saw into my work surface /assembly table so I have more room for a bigger fence. Do you think a design like yours would work? I'm trying to figure out how to keep the end farthest from the front from flexing. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for what you do!!

    • @plywoodworking
      @plywoodworking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can add 6mm-9mm MDF or another material on original fence but the material must flatten and give nylon or PE sheet after that. You build more longer and bigger fence. for locking system i think DWE 745 lock good than my table saw DWE 7470

      This is bearing for storage sliding door, maybe you can get similar like that

  • @woodandwheelz
    @woodandwheelz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Just a friendly tip. You don't square your fence with the blade, you square it to the miter slot. The blade can be out of square with the miter slot which is another issue all together. The miter slots are perfectly square with the table top. I'm not going to put down the build, it came out very nice and you should be happy with it. I would just make a few changes. But over all, it's good.

    • @davidpeters8813
      @davidpeters8813 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually, with any saw, the proper procedure is to align the blade to the miter slot, then align the fence to the miter slot.

    • @woodandwheelz
      @woodandwheelz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@davidpeters8813 Exactly. Either way, you never align to the blade.

    • @plywoodworking
      @plywoodworking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think all right, before i set the fence with the blade, i set up the blade straight with a miter slot. In this video i only need to set up a fence with the blade.

    CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG BUT IN THE MEASUREMENTS YOU SHOW LENGTH OF 720MM AND ON THE SAME PIECE THE WIDTH IS 940MM BUT THE WIDTH IS FAR FAR SHORTER IN THE PICTURES,. LAST I CHECKED 940MM IS > THEN 720MM.

    It would be much better with subtitles instead with computer generated voice.
    Additionally - plesa make some introduction (what, why and how...).

    you may have possibly built the most expensive fence ever made, lol

    • @plywoodworking
      @plywoodworking  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i estimation total build this fence only $15-18

      I dunno about 15$-18$ lol. A sheet of MDF if 50$. But compared to a store bought precision fence system, such as biesemeyer, this is most definitely worth it

    I was really surprised how much cutting power (and torque) this saw had out of the box. I've used other (10" saws) previously and was pretty surprised with the speed and cutting ability of this Dewalt saw.I have bolted mine to a table to minimize movement which I highly recommend.This is a Great saw th-cam.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe with a light to see your cutting line (not a laser line).I'd recommend this saw fro anyone looking to upgrade from a 10" miter saw.
