I'm from Zurich, Switzerland. My parents migrated to Singapore years ago and now they're both a Permanent Resident there. They're really happy living in Singapore. They said that Singapore is a "first-world country done right". And their standard of living there is higher than when they lived in Zurich because Singapore's cost of living is so much affordable compared to Switzerland.
That’s amazing! Ive always heard Switzerland is one of if not the most expensive country on the planet. So happy your parents are happy in Singapore and very grateful you took time to watch my video! I hope you’ve gotten to visit them! All the best!
I moved to Singapore from the UK a few years ago for work and it's honestly one of the best decisions ive ever made in my life. I feel extremely lucky to live in such a special place. Come back again !
I’m extremely jealous you get to live in such a magical place and thanks for sharing a part of your story with me. I’m so happy you love where you live and I’m lucky you left me a comment! Can’t wait to come back to Singapore!
A small country, often bashed by its neighbours for being boring, expensive and small, but Singapore persevered and as the national song says, Majulah Singapore.
Toxic n bully will always try hard to put down and belittle their victim. We understand our small size, the only way to survive is persistence, never give up, be humble, and stay valiant against those who want to see us fail.
Far from boring and I found it quite cheap and everything I did was essentially free. I really don’t know the cost to live there. The hostel was the most expensive part! I had a blast!
Hi Josh. You are always welcome to visit Singapore again. You are the kind of tourist we all like - polite, truthful and curious. Just subbed your channel.

Hey bud, just thought i do a shout out here as you deserve it. You are one of the best TH-camr I'd seen so far. The video is not too long and videography is artistically done in a unique way. Keep up the good job and thanks for visiting Singapore. PS: Hawker foods is a way to know Singapore culturally as those are foods we commonly eat and showcase Singapore multi racial harmony society. Do not miss out Sentosa island, Treetop hiking trail at MacRitchie, Mount Faber Park hiking trail etc... Just a few to mention as many more spread across Singapore.

Hey Josh!!! Singapore is truly a beautiful place. I was there this past summer and seeing this I fell in love all over again. Thank you for sharing this trip with us!
Tim my man! Been a while since I've seen you in the comments on here! So amazing to hear you loved the video and that it reignited your love for Singapore. It was my second time and absolutely amazing no doubt. So happy you enjoyed it and decided to hang out with me on my trip through Singapore! Thanks for the love always bro, wishing you the best!
Thank you for sharing this! Was soo cinematic to watch🤍✨ & I'll be solo traveling there with a travel agency, to Sg, sometime this yr after finishing medschool (finally😂) & I LOVE the quote u shared about how tourists post captions & travellers tell stories! I can relate to that even with interstate travel & even just going to the nearest lake / garden & journalling✨ & YES! the main part of it is discovering soo muvh more about ourselves & I feel u too, when u said u feel an overwhelming sense of emotions travelling You r in the moment, being present! Thanks for sharing Josh! Appreciate it alot & sooo grateful 🤍
Hey first off this comment was so awesome to read. I love when people leave long comments, it always makes my day. I tried my best to make it a cinematic Vlog so I'm happy you found it that way :) You're going to have the time of your life on your trip to Singapore. I said in the video that I had heard a quote once about travelers tell stories and tourists post captions BUT that's actually my quote :) so I'm happy you related to it. It's always good to journal how you feel and what you're experiencing so you can go back and revisit those times. You really find out a lot about yourself when you solo travel and I learn more and more about what I DON'T KNOW lol either way it's an amazing feeling. Thanks so much for hanging with me and watching my video! Wishing you the best and thanks for stopping through!
Your quotes in your video are inspirational. That itself deserves my sub. Maybe next time when you are back here in Singapore, go visit the nature side of the country. Ubin Island, Sungai Buloh Wetland Reserve and the Green Corridor to name a few. Cheers and safe travels.
I am beyond humbled by your kind words, do you play paintball? It looks like that in your photo? Anyways, I would love to play professional paintball lol and maybe when I come back, I will definitely do those things. So many people have commented where I need to go, and now I am eager to come back to Singapore more than ever and see the other side that nobody sees! Cheers and thanks for the ❤️🇸🇬🙏
@@joshbetravelin hell yeah i do play competitive paintball! Look forward to your new adventures my man. Keep it real, keep it humble. These travels will define our lives that no one else can experience.
Will always be real and humble my guy! I’ll never be a fake TH-camr and the weights will always keep me levelheaded! Happy we’ve connected and looking forward to having you around big dawg! All the best!
Welcome to Sg. In ur next trip here, visit our non touristy areas & activities. Visit our public housing estates, ride bicycles around the entire island on our park connectors, canoe along Kallang River or Sungei Seletar area, tree top walk at MacRitchie Reservoir, checkout our last kampongs at Lorong Bangkok, take a ferry to Pulau Ubin to explore the layback island, etc.
Okay all of this sounds amazing, I’ve screenshot this comment so I know what to do next time around. I’m so glad we connected and hope on my return trip I am able to do all of these things. Sounds unbelievable:)
Beautifully shot. Next time try walking the Southern Ridge, cycle along the Park Connector or visit the heartland like Tampines, Toa Payoh.... Looking forward to your next video on Singapore.
Thank you so much, Adrian! I am looking forward to trying out the recommendations you gave me. Wishing you the absolute best and hope to see you on my channel again!
Love this comment my friend! Had the time of my life in Singapore and was extremely affordable. Would be proud to call it my home someday! Wishing you the best and thanks for stopping through my friend :)
Glad you enjoyed Singapore and hope you come back soon! Subscribed, love the cinematic yet vlog style quality of video and the amazing positive messages you share. Looking forward to more videos!
Thank you so much, Joel! I definitely will come back soon and explore new things! I tried my best to make some good content and I’m so happy to hear that you found it entertaining. Looking forward to seeing you in the common section more often and wishing the best!
Thanks, for your awesome vid! Visited Singapore twice on vacation and traveling to Penang and Langkawi, Malaysia and Thailand this October. Consider travel to Malaysia, as hella cheap at 4.5 Ringgit per 1 USD. Your video is sure to inspire my young nephew to get his passport and travel to Singapore. Subscribed.
Thank you for your awesome comment! I hope your nephew gets his passport and goes to SG! He definitely will love it! I posted a video of myself in Thailand before this one that you should check out if you want! Thanks for dropping through!
Love your VJay + Personal views style of video. I used to solo travel too, like 25 years ago, In NYC for like 8 weeks, in San Francisco and Seattle etc as well. It is a totally different feel when you travel alone. Very different.
It’s totally different right? In a way it can be kind of sad because you’ll have these crazy stories to tell but nobody can relate or understand and in another way it’s amazing because you gain so much confidence and grow so much from solo travel! I really appreciate you commenting and connecting with me! All the best!
@@joshbetravelin Yes very different from all sorts of different aspects. I took a Greyhound from NYC to Pittsburg and also another bus to Ithaca after a 24 hour flight. It was very telling and learning experience. All the crazy experiences as well. Enjoy your travels! Life is a continual set of experience to appreciate.
Im singaporean and im glad you enjoy the country. Ive been living in vancouver and i can't wait to be back in singapore in December. By the way, you kinda look like the actor that played Shazam in the DC movies.
Sg is near the equator so the sun rays are a little bit more harmful. That’s why many people (mostly ladies) use umbrellas under the sun. Sunblock lotion is big biz here. 😅😅😅
Hi Josh Glad you have enjoyed sunny island Singapore. Amazing that you adept the weather well with high humidity and still do workouts outside. Hope Singapore has treated you well and will keep you coming back to Singapore. As you travel around the world to explore the world. Do visit other parts of the area in Singapore, things in some of the suburb areas are slightly cheaper than in the downtown. Do explore Jurong, Woodlands, Tampines, Punggol, Sengkang and etc to hunt for food in other areas. Definitely you will enjoy in suburbs. You can make new Singaporean friends in suburbs and can ask for advice about food and culture, usually they are friendly.
Hey Abraham! Thanks for dropping through and leaving such a thorough comment! It's much appreciated! You know, I came off that 17 hour flight, super jet lagged and went right out into the heat and humidity and hit that first workout. It was brutal but I felt like a monster after doing it lol Singapore gave me the best experience. It was so beautiful and I made so many great memories. I can't wait to come back and visit all of the areas people have told me about. I unfortunately don't know any Singaporeans personally to take me around and show me places but so many people have left me kind comments recommending great spots to go, including yourself :) I'm counting the days until I come back and thanks again for hanging out with me buddy! All the best! Josh
@@joshbetravelin Thanks 🙏🏼 again for your dropping your reply. You can let me know when you coming back again. Will bring you around Singapore to our suburb to have a good food and make new friends.
The “glutinous rice” is actually a different dish entirely from actual chicken rice 😂. You can find a lot of good chicken rice stalls in hawker centres around Singapore! Hope to see you again here soon!
I am a total noob, I know 🤷♂️ so many people commented on this already lol but I had some great chicken and rice and the centers for sure! Wishing you the best and I will visit again for sure!
They say what the camera captures shows the minds of person behind it.I really like your perspective. I felt like I have watched a short , well developed documentary.
The humidity is brutal. An easy run in a temperate climate turns into a slog through soup in this humidity. You get used to it after a while though. Glutinous chicken rice is indeed a different dish. Rookie mistake (literally)! 😅
I had the absolute time of my life and it definitely was a rookie mistake. It wasn’t until I went to the Hawkers Center that I realized I got the wrong chicken and I knew people from Singapore would comment and tell me I was a rookie, but it kind of makes it cute doesn’t it lol I could live with the humidity, good for the skin :) cheers and thanks for the comment my friend! All the best! Josh
Interesting! I was in Tokyo late March and it was cold lol I wore a hoodie the entire time! I can’t imagine the heat with all of the people and public transit! Thanks for the comment!
Welcome to JoshBeTravelin! Thanks for your comments and for hanging out with me on my video! I hope you enjoyed it, hope to see you in the comments again soon :) cheers!
Nice Surprise today Josh. Thank You for sharing Germany , Zeppelin Museum My Great nephew is going to visit it for me soon, Love sharing all of this through your eyes
Omg it was CRAZYYYYYY long lol at least the food was decent and I napped a lot. I’m so happy you dig the vlog. Means the world, stick around for more :)
Hello, Great video ! Few questions: 1) What is the best SIM Card Carrier in Singapore ? 2) Is there a SIM Card in Singapore that also works (even just data) in Batam island indonesia ? 3) How much cost a SIM card for 10 days in Singapore ? 4) The last but not least...how much is a beer in a convenience store and/or supermarket ? Thank you so much. Keep the great job ! Take care !
If you ever get the chance next time, maybe considering exploring outside of the city centre and get a taste of how us locals experience our daily lives. Take the MRT to places like Punggol, Bukit Panjang or Jurong, I think you'll enjoy it 😁
I’ve got so many new places and things to try when I come back! So grateful for everyone telling me all the new spots to try! Thanks for hanging out with me in Singapore via TH-cam :)
Love your vlog style… awesome personality. :) you braved through the heat. Locals like us don’t usually go beyond 1-2 places a day before we head home for a shower, or our friends gonna cover their noses. LOL, but u’re excused. Haha!
Lmao I stunk pretty bad believe me, I could smell myself. I had a great time stinking by myself tho! Thanks for the love and comment! Hope you decide to hang out with me on TH-cam more :) cheers my friend
That's the Buddha Relic Temple. It actually houses a part of Buddha's bone at the top level. The temple consists of the main prayer hall, meditation rooms & the museum.
Hey Erick! Thanks so much for your comment, it was such a cool place to visit and I didn’t know that it had a top level. I didn’t see where you could go up there at least but now I’m feeling like I was robbed lol thank you so much for sharing and next time I will definitely go up top.
I need to be fulfilled and have purpose in my work, I would love to be there tho. I don’t want to take just any job. Where do you recommend I go to find work? Thanks my friend 🔥
That is definitely a goal of mine, I really would like to link with a Singaporean who could show me the other side of Singapore. Maybe the Singapore tourism board will fly me out 🙏
That cafe in chinatown looked so chill, may i know which one it was? Also working out at the park looked so intense omg. I know the accommodation options here aren’t ideal at all but i hope you had a great time otherwise! Love the style of this vlog and what a great reminder on having to risk eating bad food in order to find the great ones
To answer your question on where i would love to visit and what’s stopping me- I’d love to visit europe one day because it has such rich cultures and stunning architecture and scenery. What’s stopping me is crippling fear of racist encounters 😭
It's so good! It was called Nan Yang coffee I believe! Apparently it is a chain coffee spot but I found it to be delicious and super chill. I had a fantastic time, accommodations didn't bother me at all, it was more so the price for the quality lol but I'm so happy you enjoyed the vlog and always roll the dice on food! You just never know!
I've spent a lot of time in Europe, I don't find it to be anywhere near as rich in culture as Asia or as fun but I hope you make it to your dream destination soon enough! Don't let the fear of racism hold you back, I doubt that will happen my friend! Go see the world!
Hey there! Welcome to my channel! I used the Sony ZV-E1 and 20mm 1.8 prime to shoot this entire video. I thought the video quality was insane as well and thank you so much for commenting and beautiful photo for your profile picture! All the best!
@joshbetravelin the ease of access for basically everything. And our trip was the sweet spot of being just before the Mid Autumn Festival so we got to enjoy the events prepared for it but not get caught up in the business of the actual day of celebrations
If I could travel anywhere it would be Florence Italy. I haven’t been yet because of money mainly but the Pitti Oumo Event there is on my bucket list so I’m going to make it happen sooooon bro
You really do know Singapore allows shirtless outdoor workouts, haha. Fortunately for us, because even I do feel the heat greatly as a local. The Nanyang coffee place you went to, that's a chain like Starbucks, selling Asian coffee and tea and food etc. Some of the best coffee outlets are the ones that aren't branded. Definitely an assortment of Singaporeans to bring you around to taste.
Oh wow! I’m such a rookie! I had no idea lol I’m learning so much about Singapore in the comments from people lol I never would’ve had my shirt off at the park if I hadn’t seen some Singaporeans with it off first 🫡 so I’m glad to know. It was so hot, had to take it off and workout! All the best my friend :)
I relate to a lot of things he says man; both of our favorite countries is Vietnam and I’ve been 5x now!! I use the Sony ZV-E1 with a Sony 20mm 1.8! Absolute beast of a camera, thanks for the comment Doug!
@@joshbetravelin he did love Vietnam 🇻🇳 that’s what drew me there, I’ve been 2 times going in November again. Keep being Josh be traveling 😊 I’ll look into that camera.
Beautiful video man! but i just wanted to point out that that was not the chicken and rice dish we’re famous for 😭😭 it’s hainanese chicken rice, completely different.
Singapore is not just Chinese. Try discovering other Singaporean food/cultures like the Malays and Indians. Then your Singaporean experience will be complete.😊

Your video makes me so blessed to be Singaporean stayinh in Singapore. Thank you.
You are blessed to be a Singaporean! I love your country!
Welcome to Singapore Josh❤. First of all I must say that you are cute❤ I love how the way you edit your video. It's really nice.
Thank you so much! I loved my time and everyone there also said welcome to Singapore 🇸🇬 it’s amazing and thanks for your comment!
Welcome to SG!!! So happy to have you here!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Welcome to JoshBeTravelin! So happy to have YOU here ;)
Your quotes in your video are inspirational.
@@joshbetravelin No worries. Do some research on rentals of bikes, & canoes in Sg before u embark on these activities.
My pleasure, absolutely will do that! Cheers :)
Hi Josh, this is a Fantastic video. Welcome to our Sunny island. God bless
Thank you so much, Jeannie! Welcome to my channel! God bless you too!
Beautiful editing, glad you had a good time here!
Thank you!! I had such a fun time! Thanks for hanging out with me :)
Love your vlog, Josh. You are welcomed to come again. Singapore is affordable if you eat and travel as locals do. Take care my friend.
I agree with everything you said! The crazy experiences are the best! All the best!
Im singaporean and im glad you enjoy the country. Ive been living in vancouver and i can't wait to be back in singapore in December. By the way, you kinda look like the actor that played Shazam in the DC movies.
I love your country! I hope that guy is at least good looking lol I've never seen those movies! Thanks for dropping through!
Beautiful! Very introspective and the music - chef’s kiss! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the love and support! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video my friend! All the best 🙏
Sg is near the equator so the sun rays are a little bit more harmful. That’s why many people (mostly ladies) use umbrellas under the sun. Sunblock lotion is big biz here. 😅😅😅
I can only imagine! So hot! It’s funny to us westerners lol thanks for the comment! All the best and hope to see you around here more!
This is a great video! Smiled all the way through as it brings back so many memories of my favourite place. ❤
So happy to hear I brought some joy to your day :) thanks for hanging with me! 🙏 hope to see you around the comments more my friend!
@@joshbetravelin Just subscribed and look forward to your future travels. 😊
That’s so cool to hear! Thanks so much and looking forward to having you around :)
Hi Josh
Glad you have enjoyed sunny island Singapore.
Josh

Thanks 🙏🏼 again for your dropping your reply.
You can let me know when you coming back again. Will bring you around Singapore to our suburb to have a good food and make new friends.
I definitely will let you know and if you ever comment on here you’ll always get a reply my friend :)
Wishing you the best and I will visit again for sure!
this video was really well done, it felt nostalgic and personal with some really beautiful shots. keep it up!!
That’s what I was going for, such a pleasure to read this comment :) all the best my friend!
amazing cinematic video! i love it, come back again soon💗
I love this comment! Soon enough!
Thanks for the lovely video. Singapore looks forward to welcome you again.
God bless.
Singapore is the best, so happy you enjoyed the video! Wishing you the best Irene!
Glad you enjoy your stay in Singapore. Do visit us again.
Already counting the days until I come back :) thanks for the comment! All the best!
They say what the camera captures shows the minds of person behind it.I really like your perspective. I felt like I have watched a short , well developed documentary.
I’m so happy to hear that Melody! I tried my best :) thanks for hanging with me!
Josh
I live in Tokyo and for me Singapore's humidity is so much more tolerable compares to Tokyo in the summer (as in right now).
Interesting! I was in Tokyo late March and it was cold lol I wore a hoodie the entire time! I can’t imagine the heat with all of the people and public transit! Thanks for the comment!
@@joshbetravelin Public transport in Japan is excellent. It's cold during summer, and warm & toasty in the winter 😊

Hello,
Great video !
Few questions:
1) What is the best SIM Card Carrier in Singapore ?
2) Is there a SIM Card in Singapore that also works (even just data) in Batam island indonesia ?
3) How much cost a SIM card for 10 days in Singapore ?
4) The last but not least...how much is a beer in a convenience store and/or supermarket ?
Thank you so much.
Keep the great job !
Take care !
I literally have no idea lol in the time you spent to ask this question you could've just googled this! I didn't buy any beer at a convenience store!

@@joshbetravelin do try the vegetarian food at the basement. Cheap & decent.

U should visit other areas in SG. Many nature walks around
That is definitely a goal of mine, I really would like to link with a Singaporean who could show me the other side of Singapore. Maybe the Singapore tourism board will fly me out 🙏

lol thank you so much, so happy you enjoyed it! Thanks for hanging with me :) all the best!
To answer your question on where i would love to visit and what’s stopping me-
I’d love to visit europe one day because it has such rich cultures and stunning architecture and scenery.
Which kind of gadgets do you use for shooting TH-cam? Your videos quality is awesome!!
Hey there! Welcome to my channel! I used the Sony ZV-E1 and 20mm 1.8 prime to shoot this entire video. I thought the video quality was insane as well and thank you so much for commenting and beautiful photo for your profile picture! All the best!
I just got back from Singapore last week with my partner for a 5 day trip and I already want to go back
I knowwwwwwwwww, Singapore is a magical place right? What was your favorite thing about it?
@joshbetravelin the ease of access for basically everything. And our trip was the sweet spot of being just before the Mid Autumn Festival so we got to enjoy the events prepared for it but not get caught up in the business of the actual day of celebrations
If I could travel anywhere it would be Florence Italy. I haven’t been yet because of money mainly but the Pitti Oumo Event there is on my bucket list so I’m going to make it happen sooooon bro
Gonna be out there on swole, I already know! It’s in your future big dawg!
Great Vlog - thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for hanging out with me and leaving a comment! All the best, Carry!
@@joshbetravelin shirts off = Best. I do that often. I certainly don't want unwanted tan lines.
I don’t want them either lol but sometimes and some places no shirt is frowned upon :( luckily that’s not Singapore!
Don't be sad Bro. Try Japan Shikoku next for a month. Rough it out camping and walking there then, in Late Fall.
Sounds amazing bro, going to add it to the list! Thanks for the recommendation!
