i had 2 iranian classmates (both are very nice girls) and they called themselves "persian" instead of "iranian". she explained that iranians are proud of their culture (hint: persian empire) and also partly because iran sounds too similar to iraq.

***** Yeah I've heard of the don't-call-us-Arab thing. I actually stupidly asked my Iranian friend if she spoke Arabic (she very kindly corrected me and added that she does speak it). It doesn't help that many Westerners equate the Middle East with Arab.
Iran is a very old name. Ferdowsi in his poem 1000 years back says CHO IRAN MABASHAD TANE MAN MABAD

I'am neither Persian or Arab but this is good comedy spot on. furthermore it's a great setup, one can exchange Persian and Arabs with two similar ethnic groups and do the same gig. ex use Americans and Canadians or the french and Germans. However it's how it's delivered that puts the fun in it and here it's done very well, thumbs up...

And yeah, Persians are way different than Arabs. Like literally we are 2 different races.
