15:02 I have had this opinion about trailers for YEARS. People think it's weird I don't like watching trailers, but there's legitimately so much that gets revealed in them that I stop watching trailers the moment I think "Yeah I'd watch/play this". I really liked solomissions reviews from S3, with the whole alliance chart and all the behind the scenes politics and he felt really in control of the bannings. Also the moment in the previous season that earned him the snake nickname. This year, there were almost no politics (except for the need to thin out the farmers) and solomission had hardly any agency in the storyline. Now settled was the protagonist simply by beasting through all the challenges pulling all the attention to himself alone... Glad he won though, deserved. But yeah, hard to force good politics in a game.

  • @Stinnery

I think the partial immunity should have protected players from the tribunal and NOT from the person in the banning. I can imagine a scenario (like with Settled) where someone wins a banning and doesn't want to be back in the next one, but the only way to keep themselves out of it is to win the next challenge outright. If partial immunity protected that person from the tribunal instead, the only way they could target them is by putting someone into the banning who also wants them out (and thinks they can be the one to do it). It creates a situation where the tribunal winners may have to vote in an ally to get at an enemy, which gives more depth to the social aspect of the game.

I liked the immunity you got from winning the banning in season 3. That forces more players into bannings. Some players were not in a banning and got very far, while Settled was in several. It ended well with a winner that everyone can agree deserved it, but if a player that wasn't tested at all won the whole game it would be a shame.
What if we added a twist for 1 or 2 episodes where there is no tribunal and X number of players that performed the worst get directly sent to the banning. That way players are kept on their toes knowing that they have to perform or else.

    • @tijn155
      @tijn155 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

agreed, the immunity from season 3 was a good thing. Now some players were almost always going into the banning, and some people just breezed by. I love the idea of having the worst performers be forced into a banning at some point, some of them never get really tested and if anything seeing the worse performers go against eachother is much more fun than a settled taking out a weak player imo.

One of the best things about this season imo, was the way the challanges was explained. I just started watching the season with my gf and she was able to understand the basic concepts of the challanges with little to no prior osrs knowlege. This also helps you reach a wider audience, as the episodes often hit the top charts in trending on youtube. So if the episodes explain the basics in a way that people who dont play the game can understand it the seasons will keep getting more views. Keep up the good work!

My small nitpick of the season is that taking the 200m gold was an extremely boring option for the show. The person wins a banning where they were on the edge of elimination and outright sent someone home, and they get 200m which has no impact on the show or viewer experience.

Or make it so it is a lot of money, but you sabotage yourself. Money is only gained if you finish top 50% next challenge.
By the way, 200m is a lot in episode 1, but not a lot in episode 8. So maybe it needs to go up each episode to be able to compete with a 65B prizepool.

    • @Palehoodie

rewards for winning a banning sure is complicated, full safety while nice also kills drama, money is meaningless to viewers and while sabotage is good it also makes you a huge target.

totally agree. Picking the money was just the stay under the radar pick which felt pretty boring from a viewer experience even if it was good strategy as picking sabotage mostly just made you an enemy while picking partial immunity was way too weak and didn't even stay under the radar as much as the money since the tribunal is incentivized to put you in as they would know you're safe if they don't put you in now.

  • @abraxas2658
    @abraxas2658 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

I think the tribunal DID fall flat a little bit. By limiting the social aspect, it felt like they came to consensus too easily. I also think the tradeoff of the amulet was cool, but it unintentionally had different values based on how far we were in the season. The money was BY FAR more valuable at the beginning of the season, and near the end, sabotage was more meta. It felt like less of a choice and more of a flat reward.

  • @tiltmasterflex7220
    @tiltmasterflex7220 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

As a viewer, the season was fantastic, but there were 2 things that stood out to me. One was that it was more important for someone who won a banning be immune from the tribunal because picking immunity puts a massive target on your head when the people that you can't take in the banning with you are the people that are choosing to put you in it. If being immune from the tribunal is too strong, maybe giving that person the ability to take someone from the tribunal into the banning instead of full immunity gives a nice balance, I dunno.
The other thing that felt too strong was the whole banning winner picking teams thing with 2/4 team challenges. You could do something like have the banning winner and last challenge winner becoming captains and having to pick people or something like that, but the big team pvp episode really highlighted the fragility of the approach. Invredible season though with fantastic moments

Soup, an idea for the partial immunity.
Have them tell you privately which they want to be immune from (tribunal or being picked by the person selected by the tribunal), but keep this blinded from the rest of the people - just let them know that partial immunity is in play.
If they selected being immune from the tribunal, and the tribunal picks them - then everyone votes for someone in the tribunal to go in and it plays out like if the tribunal couldn't select someone as you stated in this video.
If they choose to be protected from being picked by the person selected by the tribunal, and that person selected them - the person selecting automatically loses the banning because there is no one to compete against due to the immunity.
I could see this creating gambles on which that partial immunity selected; it might create some interesting dynamics. You could amplify this further by allowing people to place that partial immunity onto someone else (could lead to people protecting their friends).

    • @rh0dr1
      @rh0dr1 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Okay so I think adding a bunch of abilities that are hidden is fun. Especially if you can give immunity to someone else. If not for the option to gift immunity, this would be too strong, since the tribunal and players would know you have some immunity and the risk of challenging that immunity would be too much. By adding the option to gift immunity there are more variables for the tribunal to consider and would lead to mind games where people can try to bait out procing it.
I don't agree with the challenger immunity idea, since it removes content and is way too big of a risk for the person put in, nobody would take the 50/50 to get autobanned, this would make it almost as strong as full immunity.
I would say the more dramatic way to run this is, if you tribunal picks you with immunity, then you pick your challenger as if you were chosen for the banning, the immunity is then revealed and either the rest of the players pick someone from the tribunal or the person you chose gets to pick.
If you are challenged by the person put in from the tribunal you can instead put another person into the banning of your choice.

@@IAmSouper I personally think the aforementioned idea would create a lot more frustration than fun. A person automatically losing the banning if the player they picked was immune from being picked by them unbeknownst to them is absurd. Maybe the person that wrote that comment means that the picker would go into the banning instead of the picked? I still don't like the randomness aspect this would create, and as a Hearthstone player I have dealt with plenty of randomness to have some understanding about what type of randomness I consider enjoyable and what type I really don't. The randomness where you have no agency whatsoever always feels the worst and this is that type of randomness for the picker.

    Loved the season Soup!
My big wish list item for Season 5 has to be big teams!
    - Redemption Arc: We haven't seen Big Teams since Season 1, and as fun as S1; it's clear you were still getting your feet under you back then. I'd be excited to see how you could use your current experience to elevate the concept.
    - Social Swing: After the Challenge Heavy Season 4, I feel a Social Heavy Season 5 is in order. Big Teams make the politics easier to track. If only the losing team is voting in a loser, you only need to capture half as many voting confessionals.
    - Friend of a Favorite: It always sucks when your favorite player gets eliminated. But sometimes it's not so bad if your favorite player had a cool teammate you could root for instead. I feel that teams make it easier to route for multiple people, so you don't get burned so bad when your favorite gets knocked out.
    - Not So Free For All: You can still run solo challenges in a team format, using conditions like "the solo winner, wins for their team," or "mario kart scoring." But with team dynamics in play, it opens up strategies like sacrificial bunts, funneling, and sabotage.
    - Mix-Ups: There's all kinds of twists you can throw into a team dynamic. "No body is eliminated Week 1, but the winners get to pick the teams." "As a prize for surviving the banning: you may now choose to either return to Team A who voted you in, or turn traitor and join Team B." "This week will be a duo challenge, with each pair containing one member from each team."
I don't know if those are all good ideas. But they sound fun to me.

    @Oscar797 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

Regardless of what format the seasons are in, I'm devouring those GG episodes several times over. Season 4 was amazing and it really shows that you learn new stuff with each one of them.
While I like the solo format, I have to say that for social purposes, the duo team format of season 2 was pure entertainment. There were so many funny moments between the different teams as well as within them. The team members reacting and talking to each other in response to a specific thing made for some hilarious moments that in the end are just more "genuine" as opposed a solo player having to remind themself that they are in front of the camera. Just to name a few examples:
    - Ditterbitter constantly reassuring Torvesta that everything is fine "trust me bro" and then it turns out not fine.
    - Tanzoo and Virtoso snapping at each other.
    - J1mmy and Settleds bromance.
    - Solomission guiding Gunschilli to the dark side.
S2E08 is imo the best episode ever made because it just has everything. It might have been a one time thing that's hard to replicate due to how "gullible" everyone was back then and how well Solomission took advantage of that.
Anyway, this was just my humble opinion. Thank you so much Soup for spoiling us with this amazing content

One of the most important things GG needs imo is a way to give its weaker players more power/control. This last season was great, but it felt like everyone who wasn't a top contender was drifting by as a background character. Giving the losers the ability to vote in S3 was a great way to give all contestants power and screentime. I totally understand however the intentional shift towards a more skill-based competition and the time constraint issue.
Without a mass voting session, I think one alternative could be to make the 3 worst performing, non-immune players go into a (typically) single elimination banning, with the other 2 getting immunity next week. I say 3 rather than the typical 2, because that ends up giving more screentime to the less skilled contestants. The idea is this increases their chances to shine and have personal victories which they might not otherwise have.

solo season, two people get put into banning. both people in the banning pick 1 person to be their teammate in the banning. losing team does additional banning against each other and loser is elimated.
makes it really interesting either picking a really good teammate hoping to win or a bad one so you can win if you lose. would make it really interesting and balance the playing field a bit. also consideration, winner of the banning picks one person to go directly into the banning the following week.

HOT TAKE: For the amulet of choice, the option of partial immunity may actually be a punishment rather than a reward. The fact that a player has "partial immunity" from being chosen by the 1st guy in the banning, means psychologically it may incentivise the tribunal to pick on the player with partial immunity to go in as the 1st guy intoi the banning, as that is the only way they can be entered into that weeks banning (and them already owning the amulet proves their prowess, thus additional incentives to vote them in).

    • @kayaxe
      @kayaxe หลายเดือนก่อน +4

While on the flipside, if the "partial immunity" is immune from BEING VOTED BY THE TRIBUNAL, but not immune from being selected by the 1st guy into the banning. This would make more sense, as thhe amulet will now serve as a deterrent (signifying their prowess) for the 1st guy to pick them as their banning competitor.

My thoughts on the way to group people is, watch survivor. Start with 3 teams, let them guess how much time they have until teams combine, and then let the team/social aspect of the game work itself out. At that point, you're given a bunch of people working with/against each other. Find a way to build an "exile" island where teams overlap. It'll build alliances between teams and certain people in those teams. In my head, it'll work out so well. I love the solo season but I think this would be a great way to look at season 5.

There's insane skill on display but also fantastic entertainment value from the different personalities of the players. It's just exquisite vibes. I really appreciate that even when people ae leaning more into the social game aspect and talking alliances and betrayals and such, no one is actually trying to cause true drama and upset - everyone is there for a good time and to make something awesome together, and ultimately want the best for each other as a community. That feels like the heart of it.

Weapon armor, ability to use graceful, potions and so on. But have a triathlon some skilling, boss fight, and something else. Everyone starts with x amount of gp, and have said auction, I know would be a longer challenge to do it all, or do auction one day, film a different day. Some people get lucky and OP others are SOL.

I think you're really good at thinking about the trade-offs present in each of the decisions you've made about format! As someone who mostly got into GG around season 2 or 3, I think the quality has done nothing but increase over time! I don't envy how hard these kinds of decisions about format must be to make!
As an observer I have to say that I think Season 4 was a bit too heavily focused on performance, and it can be a little hard as a casual player myself to follow along with some of the more intensive solo performance challenges. I think the only feedback I would give as a spectator would be to consider adding a bit more chaos and social elements. Obviously the best should be the one who wins in the end, but I also think that some more social games and curveball ideas help to keep the audience on the same page as the players.
All in all great work on this season!!! I look forward to GG 5!

Yo Soup big fan! Always watching and enjoying the show either way, but if you're considering some format shakeups, that would interest me and I have a format suggestion!
I can reference how some fighting game tournaments go:
Have 30 contestants as 5 pools of 6 people each:
    Pools A, B, C, D, E
To start, episode 1 would focus on Pool A's combatants doing a challenge, and the lowest 2 or so performers depending on how many pools, would be knocked out. Alternatively could pit Pool A against Pool B, resulting in the lowest performers of each pool fight in a banning.
Once each pool has had an episode, it can reshuffle the players into smaller new pools, *or* convert to the normal GG group challenges style.
    Possible 3 benefits:
    1. Split up one or two pools per episode and reduce the number of people per challenge to record and get ALL at once
    2. Allow a little more centralized airtime per person in their starring episodes, and potentially a loser's bracket for double elimination.
    3. Allow more total contestants for advertising value.
    3 costs:
    1. Only a cross-section of the players actually *play* each episode, so fewer *involved* parties per challenge, at the benefit of hugely simplified editing and coordination time.
    2. All other players not involved in Pool's challenge could play as an audience and spectate/commentate, which would probably be important at the cost of extra overhead.
    3. This style would feel more like a tournament, which... may not be preferred? But call them "Groups" instead of pools, and throw in flashy Soup stuff, and this could be hidden.
One of my favorite ever parts of GG was the gauntlet of eliminated people fighting each other for a shot to rejoin the games, so a "losers bracket" episode challenge sounds like such vengeful dramatic fun to me.
Again what you do is probably the very best entertainment for the game, so I will be happy with anything, good luck

That was a lot of fun in S2. I think the issue is the time it takes. It was done in the doubles season so it would take twice as long in solos and would take two episodes of the 12 to complete and a whole heap of reused challenges with players that are probably not going to win anyway. Not to mention so much more work for soup although we as viewers would like it, it's probably too much to ask. Probably better to just focus on strategies that allow our favorites to stay in the games longer if they are playing well. Boaty tactics aside... lol

  • @AcediaRulerOfSloth
    @AcediaRulerOfSloth หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I think for the money option in the amulet of choice could be a "steal" from another player? ie. steal from their prize money or if their prize money isn't enough, they would get half of that from the pool instead. (This is really spicy though so I understand if this isn't considered since it could end with participants having like almost 0 winnings. Although to combat this, there could be a cap to how much could be stolen from someone so they still have a baseline?)
If you want to make it spicier, you could let the person choose how much they want to steal (up to a cap of course)

Odd suggestion for a new format. 3 tribes of 5. Every week you swap which tribe you watch. Essentially it breaks up scheduling conflicts, makes editing easier. As well it adds the possibility of having "lives". If each person can be banned 2 times and each time they are banned they go to a new tribe then you can have SoloMission Snake tactics of tracking, lieing about, and utilizing the number of bans a person has had.
Definitely odd, but it could be interesting. That way if a fan favorite gets banned off early they can have a redemption story. You can have more double elims without it being too punishing.

Been watching you since RS2 when you, Gudi and Framed made content and I just wanted to say that we are truly blessed as a community to have you putting out such content. This is actually the first season of GG I've watched as I took a few years off RS, but I was surprised to hear that a common request is a larger cast. I felt like some of the contestants didn't contribute much to my enjoyment of the show and wouldn't have been missed had there only been a 12-14 person cast. I don't mean I didn't like some of them personally, just maybe there wasn't enough time to let everyone's stories/personalities develop and shine. I understand wanting to appeal to as many content creators' fans as possible though. Also I think if you're going to have a multi-person final with double elimination rounds to keep the total number of episodes as low as possible, you should have the double elimination rounds early on. I just finished binging all the episodes, having not watched them on release, and the pacing felt very (too) accelerated in the 2nd half of the show. The first few weeks we slowly lost 1 contestant at a time from this big group and suddenly a few episodes later there's a winner. I think it'd be better to have the multi-elims early on and then as the storylines develop, you slow down the rate of eliminations. I wasn't a huge fan of the multi-person final but I completely understand your reasoning. Any way this was a long wall of text of nitpicking and not a whole lot of praise, but I am truly blown away by what you've put together here. Genuinely can't believe this is the level of runescape youtube videos. You have single handedly raised the bar and I reckon you have a long, successful career ahead of yourself. I'm excited to go back and watch the other seasons and looking forward to season 5 whenever you're ready to go again

Voting idea: have players cast public votes in order, starting with whoever came in last place and ending with the winner. Two highest voted players go in. This way, players who place higher get more of a chance to see where the votes are falling before their turn. I think this would be really interesting to watch as a viewer, since it potentially opens up a new element to the social game and also interacts directly with the challenge results.
You could get live reasons & reactions from people instead of doing what's essentially a confessional for every vote, which should also help keep filming streamlined. I could foresee there maybe being some audio quality hurdles to overcome with live reactions like that; tbh I don't know that much about what goes into producing something like this.
(This idea is inspired by social deduction games, specifically Blood on the Clocktower in which players vote publicly and in a specific order.)

  • @MrMultidiver

Hi Soup. I love the series. I have a challenge idea (called fashionscape). What if you had a challenge where you log into an account who is wearing items that point the players to a specific location on the map. For example they start in the starting area and you log into a second account wearing full infinity robes. The players would then find a second account in the mage training arena wearing full dharoks. The players would then go to the entrance to barrows and so on until they find you on your soup account and trade you.
Other examples are: helm of neitiznot pointing players to the king of neitiznot or legends cape leading to the legend guild, but it could obviously mate more obscure but I lack the game knowledge to come up with these. Kind regards and keep it up!

Gah I missed the live Q&A, but my 2C:
Whilst I don’t particularly care much for PVP, it would have been nice to have a few more PVP challenges this season. The challenges this season were really stacked in favour of the snowflake Ironman players, so often I would go in just expecting Settled to cream it, which he did.
As much as it’s fun watching PVP only players just flounder at game knowledge, it’s nice to see them shine from time to time too. Much like how Hooti finally had that chance to show off his PVM chops in the ToA challenge.
IMO it would help create that spicy atmosphere you’re after.

I'm very happy you're doing this series, it not only gets people to see just how much work and effort goes into the episodes but also helps inform people who otherwise have no idea.
Overall I think the season was great. I'm sure you'll go over it in the ending review but I think having anonymous votes works better for creating drama and storylines. One idea that might work is that might work is after a challenge 2 people are selected, either by the winning player or someone else, then the 3 tribunal members get to discuss and anonymously vote on the two of them. Whoever gets the most is in the banning, and the other one has to be chosen among the other players like usual.
The reason I'm suggesting this is because this time the tribunal had too much power, so limiting them to choosing player A or B instead of anybody helps a lot. It still gives room for backstabbing, because people don't want to say "I'll vote for X" and then vote Y when they have to announce it publicly. That only came up once, and of course it was SoloMission who tried it when he was 'relatively' safe to do so.
No matter how things end up, I'm glad you're making content and look forward to whatever else you make!

i have a idea for the season 5 voting system: You keel the tribunal and let them vote for one player to go ingo the banning. And the rest of the contestants each vote separtely (in secret?) on the person they want to go in. Then each vote goes in a spinning wheel, that pickes one player. So if you got 4 votes, you have 4 places on the wheel and so 4 times the chance to going in.
I think that with using this method, you create a lot of tention because even if you are in a big alliance you have still the chance to going in. And so has the person that is not in a big alliance still a chance to avoid a elemenation round. A small chance though, but still a chance.
I would also do the voting in secret, so a lot of weird and random shit could happen🤷🏼‍♂️

I loved the politics of the previous seasons with the ability to make alliances, which I feel like it wasn't really present this year with the tribunal.
Suggestion for next year, you start off with 2 votes, 1 public vote and 1 anonymous vote, if you are in the bottom third in the challenge you loose your anonymous vote, last looses both. Top third gains a anonymous vote (so gets 3 total) winner gets both of losers votes (4 total). Maximises the backstabbing potential

Random challenge idea:I think it would be cool if you had a challenge where all players have to accomplish the same goal, but their equipment must be selected from a box. Like you Soup, share a screenshot of a bank with a ton of gear in it, and based on some order for the players they get to pick items one by one from the picture. Then you trade them the stuff and they all try to accomplish the goal. So obviously the people who got to pick first get the good stuff, but even with "the good stuff" they may end up taking the best weapon and other players took all the good armor. I just think it would be cool

For the amulet of choice - I think it was a good idea, but I must admit that the 200m GP option was a bit underwhelming to me because it doesn't affect the show in any way.
I feel like it'd have been more interesting with partial immunity being your 'cop out option', for example if the options were something like (and this is just a random shot in the dark):
    - Sabotage another player in the next game.
    - Give an advantage to another player in the next game, but you can't choose yourself.
    - Partial immunity.
Then all the options have a direct influence on the show, and have a chance of creating drama/storylines.
But overall the show was incredible, the best one yet. Amazing work!

Agreed. Though I suggested that the first place finisher gets immunity from sabotage. Also, that a player who has selected the amulet of choice partial immunity option who is chosen by the tribunal can have the option to choose the second or third place player from the tribunal as their opponent. This introduces interesting dynamics for the players to think about as well as addressing the problem of underperforming players "coasting through" and helps high performance players stay in the competition. Instead of focusing on punishing the underperforming players it addresses the same issue by instead rewarding the best players for each round. Maybe this would have been too complicated for S4 but for S5 it might be just right.

HOW they die... the final 5 minutes of the movie, the entire plot twist, and all and every main fight scene.. There's nothing even left to watch.. Having a trailer that is, sure partially true, but also half truths, cover ups, and entire content that isn't even relevant, hypes up the main feature, but without spoiling anything!! It's the perfect way it should be done.

For next season: keep the tribunal, but have them have to choose one of the tribunal members to go into the banning. This way no one is ever truly safe and it forces people to make alliances and work behind the scenes to stay alive. Then that person chooses someone from outside of the tribunal to go up against in the banning. This could make some interesting things happen, like the tribunal working together to send in a strong winner to pick off someone that didn't win. Plus, super shock value for the last season

Idea for a mini-challenge: "Know your pathing" (or so)
    - Players need to aggro and lure an enemy through an "obstacle course" (probably just tiles marked on the ground ?). The player with the least amount of hitsplats taken from the enemy wins (and/or speed?). 2x2 enemies may make this more interesting, strategies to attack the NPC to "flinch" them could be part of it, redclick stalling below the NPC, etc.

Since it looks like you're cool taking a few ideas I also wanna put my 2cents in. :p
5 man finales kinda take the suspense out of the concept of a finale imo. A traditional 1v1 catered specifically towards the two finalists (PvP challenges if they are both proficient at it, game knowledge checks etc) with random wild cards mixed in feels a little cooler. You could even do a 3-man finals where the lowest performer is knocked out midway through and that player could even play into the remaining 2's challenges.
For example, Settled/Boaty/Roidie finals. Boaty gets knocked out in challenge 3. Challenge 4 is a wildy tank test, first to get to mage bank wins. The PKers are Torvesta, Dino, Westham and now Boaty.
That way the finale feels more like a showdown and previous competitors still show up at the end for the shows victory lap. Loved the show as always!

Soup, I’ve watched all seasons of GG and this was by far the best to come out. I know it’s a lot of work but the community really appreciates the time and effort in these vids. For such a niche community on a 20 year old game, this is always treat every year. Fantastic job as always 🤘

Bet you won't even see this, but I think a really fun/chaotic banning selection method would be: the worst performing player during the main challenge always goes into the banning. The rest of the players vote who among the top 3 to send into the banning. Might be just me, but I think it would create a lot of drama to essentially punish good performance so players have an extra layer of strategy to manage during the main challenge. Plus, so many regular show guests are so naturally competitive that I think it would cause some truly anguished confessionals during the main challenge.

Your content is bar-none, uncontestable, the best content in OSRS. Your work is much appreciated, and you deserve all the praise you get. Thanks for season 4, and I hope to see season 5! Definitely voting for the Prop Hunt episode in the golden gnome questionnaire this year.
Also that tribunal failsafe is pretty metal. Maybe in the universe where B0aty didn't take the gold from Rick Turpentine we also saw a Tribunal fight-to-the-death as well.

What you said about the fake scenes in the trailer is so true! I think in the season 2 trailer you showed actual footage so you knew who was going to be making it late into the games, it's much better with the fake scenes I reckon since you're teasing the challenge but everything is up to speculation, great improvement on that Soup

    Elimination idea,
Worst player automatically gets put in the banning.
Tribunal has to select a player to go into the banning, without knowing who came last (some challenges will make it obvious who came last), and also a backup in case they choose the player that came last

Agreed, was going to suggest this also. I feel like it would be a good concept to keep people from costing to the final. Also, might force hands of groups sooner in the season.

So this is something I've always wanted to try and I agree 100% it's a great idea! However, let me play devil's advocate. Everything is filmed online - some things are out of my control like computer issues, internet issues, IRL emergencies, etc... If I have a season where last place goes straight into the banning, but the last place person was having internet issues the entire turn, or their computer crashed or there was a family emergency - is it really fair for them to put straight into the banning? We don't have the luxury of re-recording the challenge and it's not fair to give them a "pass" where they can't be put in because they were having issues during the challenge. I don't personally have a solution for this honestly, so I'm curious about what everyone thinks.

@@IAmSouperimo I don’t think it’s the right move to have GG be a pure meritocracy like that, part of the beauty of GG and other game shows is those fan favorite underdogs who don’t “deserve” to make it far somehow scamming their way to a final or a deep run. I think if the less skilled half of the show cannibalizes itself within the first six episodes we just end up with the same handful of players at the end 🧐

Seeing the behind the scenes, especially stuff like the confessional google doc, is insane. So much effort and coordination; I cannot believe GG is free to watch. The last time I looked forward to TV/TH-cam entertainment like this was when I was binge watching Breaking Bad. Lol

As someone who recently discovered GG and has watched every season in the past month, I have a few thoughts
Season 4 was, in my opinion, far and away the best season so far in how it was designed. I think keeping everyone solo as you say really does give the best of both worlds and keep it fresh because you can switch up the challenges week-to-week to highlight teamplay or make it fully solo. For me, this is the best way to get that combination of the social game and the individual performance aspect. I'm someone who enjoys the social game, but ultimately think the best players should be the ones to make it to the end. I didn't like in some past seasons how the social game could heavily shield competitors who were "middle of the pack." You made a great season where performance matters most but alliances and social play still factor in, and I think it was brilliant.
This was definitely my favorite format and I hope you keep a similar one going forward, I think you've really found a great structure here that maybe only needs some minor changes (like partial immunity to the amulet of choice). The bannings were LEGENDARY this season and I think the "pick your opponent" mechanic was why, as you said.
I actually had to pause the video when you revealed what would have happened if the tribunal couldn't agree and I almost wish that could have happened, would have been amazing haha.
Thank you for everything you do Soup! Looking forward to more GG!

absolutely incredible content soup! I agree with your "storylines outside of the game" analysis (i'm a huge Survivor fan). One thing that Survivor does well is forcing people who win things to "pick favorites" (like winning a challenge they can decide who gets to go on the reward with them).
I feel like the money option was a way for players winning to escape consequences of sabotaging another player. Also B0aty choosing randomly was another situation to escape ruffling any feathers, which I think players should be unable to do. Same goes for "we chose a random number and you were it" - i know it was a running joke but it just felt like players were often able to escape any consequences of not having to sabotage anyone else

For a future season what I would like to see is a "Viewer champion". Somebody that is not a creator taking place. Maybe have some people apply given they have a maxed account or something, chose randomly between 20-30, have some fast elimination rounds and the winner plays in.

Great work this season Soup, easily my favorite season.
Just wanted to give my opinion on the Amulet of Choice as a viewer.
The first option to just get GP IMO was pretty boring as a viewer and I'm glad that it wasn't chosen much. I understand that these options were added a week before filming started but maybe a replacement for this option to make it more interesting for the viewer; while also keeping it a neutral option to avoid making enemies would be to give the player a slight advantage in next weeks challenge. Essentially the opposite of sabotage. I worry that may be too strong of an option depending on what advantage they get but as a viewer I would of loved to see how the players thought process change up.
The Sabotage option was easily the most entertaining option and I wouldn't change a thing about it, loved this option every episode.
The partial immunity felt a bit worthless IMO. If you were a decent player and a target for elimination but didn't make the tribunal, you didn't have any real way to defend yourself from back to back bannings. So the only real option was to sabotage a bigger threat in hopes that the tribunal would pick them instead of you.
