Trying to pull myself only straight up and down. Focusing on a straight line of movement. Keeping my elbows back. Engaging my biceps. This video is so unbelievably helpful. I've tried several times to learn to do a muscle up and didn't feel like the pull ups I was doing were getting me any closer but your video made it click in my head for the first time in years. Great point made in this vid. Already implementing the tips put forth in this routine. Low rep range together with maximum focus in best form available is paying off slowly yet relentlessly. A special mention goes to activating the right muscle groups in the back, not easy in the beginning but through constant work and proper mind muscle connection the whole thing is starting to work out.
    It will be a while before I ever start pulling as high as you do in the vid but I'm outright excited to eventually be walking down the right path this time.

    I started lifting weights two years ago. Started seeing good gains. But I was shocked when I found out I couldn't do a single pull up anymore without feeling like I'm gonna snag my shoulder. So here I am. Your pull up videos are awesome, I feel like I'm learning how to do them all over again, but properly this time. :)

    I'm confused, maybe someone can help me. I'm not an english speaker so I might have missunderstood, but here is my question :
    While doing pull-ups, do we have to have our scapulas activated and our chest openned, or do we have to push the shoulders to the front and round the upper back ??
    Because I naturallt feel better with my chest openned and my scapulas activated, but that pulls my shoulders backward and Chris talks about "rolling them forward".

    • @Popeye-uw6jb
      @Popeye-uw6jb 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You start with your scapulas forward. Then when you go to pull, you pull your scapulas as far back as you can first, then bend at the elbow. Might seem awkward at first but eventually it gets smoother. I know this is an old post but if you still don’t know, I hope this helps.

    This has a lot of really great points, only that NG I might add is to try and go down slower during the negative pull up.
    Usually 4 to 8 seconds on the way down at an even pace is the best for muscle activation.
