    This shows the times we live in as far as technology, it's amazing. This also highlight's that one should also focus on their skillset over the camera gear so when money and time permit's, the bare bone core skills are already intact. Meaning, learning the basic's, principles of film, photography, light and etc. I take these videos as motivation to stay on the course and path in achieving my goals in becoming a film maker and etc. Keep making these motivating videos. 🔥🔥🔥👍🏽

    Something so fantastic about the way the way the people in these videos are funny witty and don’t take themselves too seriously yet they take the content they are talking about seriously and talk about in without resorting to a puffed up self importance that so many “creators” on TH-cam do. A breath of crash air and wonderfully charming whilst being on the money in terms of analysis opinion and qualifying the limitations of the tests. Perfect TH-cam. Very entertaining despite often being about chromatic noise and pixel detail. Thank you

    Make a video compare with nikon z9 with venice 2 8k both are full frame 8k capable why are people ignoring nikon z9 they introduced raw capabilites internally that it really great thing.... i request i want to see nikon z9 next time please

  • @WilliamEwart
    @WilliamEwart ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Couple of notes: 1. The noise is because the Venice won’t apply any noise reduction because it’s designed to get the most “raw” detail and then to be removed in post. 2. I wish this were done with a A7S3 instead since the color science is supposed to be a lot closer. Would have liked to see how they look together. But over all I really liked the video. Well done.

    The Venice is more balanced, deeper colors and more luminance while still retaining a soft highlight rolloff. However the a7r5 and any of the recent 10 bit sony cameras are punching way above their weight. its always really been more about light, lens and coloring of the footage.

    • @Soundstripe
      @Soundstripe  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally agree. The richness and deeper colors are really apparent towards the end of this video where you see the graded shots. The other thing too of course is the useability of the Venice or any cinema camera on set. It's not just about image quality alone.

      @@Soundstripe Cheap cameras vs expensive one - there is no problem at all to match colors and skin tone. The real problem for the cheap cameras (which not can be solved) is the dynamic range. So we who are poor people should be happy with fx9! )

    I love my A7RV and I haven't even tried video on it yet so the video quality performance was nice to see. Are you going to do a follow up later when the colorist schedule works out? I would really like to see a final comparison especially for the indoor skateboard shot. Lastly, which lenses were used on each camera? They are both E-Mount and could use the same lens, correct? Great video.

    TLDR; The Venice will not hold your hand when it comes to signal processing. Meaning you'll need to have a minimum skill-set to even make use the benefits it offers. Where Alpha series does indeed do some of that work for you in-camera, it comes at the expense of not suiting some scenes or sets, which again, will demand some operator skill to correct. But I guess those caveats make sense for professional production and hybrid use, so the product design is appropriate on each. Like a lot of things when it comes to cheaper solutions: it works when it works. When it doesn't- you'll often be looking for something the professional solution offers natively. However, when the real underlying issue is operator skill (in production or in post), choosing either camera will not solve it. On the flip-side, if you work on the skill factor, you'll be able to create great results with a far wider range of tool specs. Solving way more than any one peice of equipment could.,

    Great video. My takeaway is while the Venice might have looked ever so slightly better "at times" it's hard to say that that slight difference is worth paying $55,000 more. You have to color grade both no matter what, and with a nice grade, both apparently will produce some great video. 👍

    • @giordiserafini_
      @giordiserafini_ 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The price difference is part image quality, and mostly build and usability. You pay for things like build, professional connections like 4 SDI ports, timecode in and out, genlock, internal nd filters, anamorphix de-squeeze, shutter angle, and much more. The Venice is seamless to drop into a full-scale professional shoot, it's much harder to bring a mirrorless camera to a real set and hook up multiple monitors and multiple channels of audio

    It was a bit funny though to see a Sony simple zoom on a Sony Venice 2, It was interesting with extremely good lenses on both the Venice 2 and A7RV (Lenses are part of the overall sharpness and quality of the image)

    traditional Sony greenish look? you guys ever used sony cameras before? untill a7s3 sony's got 2 main problems; purple shadows and yellow skintones. as of a7s3, a74, fx3 all those are mostly gone bringing color science closer to Venice. in your case the tint probably comes from the variable ND. otherwise, you could've done colors indistingushable, since you are not really pushing the dynamic range on either camera. so only the compression artifacts can give off the alpha series camera...

  • @Supercon57
    @Supercon57 ปีที่แล้ว

    Couple things to note
    I've been using sony mirrorless for years and have grown pretty accustomed to their annoying quirks
    Something to keep in mind with the noise test, I don't know how the mkV is but on previous models when switching between the low gain and high gain iso you can actually get different results depending on if you scroll up to vs scroll down to that ISO
    Example, the high gain ISO on the A7smki in slog2 is 8000 *BUT* 8000 looks terrible if you scroll up to it from 6400, it's essentially the low gain ISO maxed out, but if you scroll up to 10,000 ISO it switches to the high gain circuit and then scroll back down to 8000 ISO it will have super clean noise
    I reported this bug to Sony years ago and they never bothered to patch it out of handful of camera models
    Also, I'm not sure how the mkV handles 0-255 data levels but on previous alpha models there was a distinct dynamic range difference when recording internally to xf-avc vs externally through the HDMI, I believe it was Gerald undone who pointed out that the internal recording was recording in a limited signal essentially handicapping the dynamic range of the camera unless you recorded externally (which would unfortunately bypass the h.264 noise reduction) or if you started the recording while not in a hypergamma and then while recording switched back into slog
    Sounds stupid?
    Sony cameras.

    • @jammaschan
      @jammaschan ปีที่แล้ว

      The dual gain would probably be in 8000 then since it was an issue on the a7siii pre-launch and they fixed it at launch

    • @AABB-px8lc
      @AABB-px8lc ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, even on my A7M3 it hysteresis "delayed" dual iso jump come with 3.0 firmware, it kind of annoying, you never be sure is it real or faked 2nd iso especially in quick emerge situations. I hope Sony will make next firmware with option to turn off that hysteresis trick and document it.

  • @simoncohen8572

    Looks like there is no difference at all, you showed more examples of the Venice being green than you did of the R5. They both gave green tints, I guess it depends on what circumstances your shooting in as to whether you get a green tint. Both cameras are doing the same in this respect as far as I can see. But this is all negligible once you get to grade it and take that tint out in post, I really don't think that amount of a green tint needs a professional colorist considering you have to stare at it to see it, its so slight. As for noise it looks like the Venice wins, but again you have to stare at it and there is only two words I have for this Neat Video. I am inclined to think though that the two cameras were simply not matching in their exposure, ASA and sensor anyway and there is probably no difference in noise either. Those are the only differences you seemed to find other than you think the Venice seems richer on the shot in the shed with the skateboards, that to me just looks like a difference in exposure the Venice is exposed slightly darker? I don't think the dynamic range was so clearly better considering your shot of the girl outside was all blown out by the Venice and the R5 wasn't, so looks to me just a difference in exposure and the cameras are actually identical or close enough you could never notice. I'm not an R5 user or a Venice user, I use an FX6, but this video seems to say the cameras are the same in terms of image quality so I'll save myself 60 grand give or take haha.
