I have my reserved opinions on these things. Some of them are very useful as installations and prototyping. Yes the exercise is justified and alternatives explored. But I rather work with what is already proven and how parametric design can influence it like bricks and blocks. That alone is a whole universe. My concerns are the following: Is the technology going to become a fad or a real tool that is introduced in every repertoire of any engineer or architect. If the technology will be subjected to micro processing power and memory. And last, if the technology is inclusive without creating an elitism on high expertise in particular fields. Of course I do love innovation and prototyping. It should be an on going field. I simply think on two terms, pragmatism versus poetry. A striking balance between these could insert the conception of parametric architecture, in my opinion of course.
The partitioning of a plane with n points into convex polygons such that each polygon contains exactly one generating point and every point in a given polygon is closer to its generating point than to any other.
A Voronoi diagram is sometimes also known as a Dirichlet tessellation. The cells are called Dirichlet regions, Thiessen polytopes, or Voronoi polygons.
