    Its so weird to have a game with a necromancer class, yet the only pet class in the game is the sorcerer. Necromancer is one of my favorite classes in all of fantasy and gaming, and ESOs has always just felt so lacking compared to what i expect and am used to from my prior experience. Dont get me wrong, the flavor is still mostly there. I dont think the class is themed poorly or anything. Its just that almost every necromancer ive ever played in any game is all about summoning minions/undead. Please just rework corpse mechanics and give us perma pets.

      But you'd run into the issue of constantly getting bounties for having a bunch of corpses following you around. And before you complain about the sorcerers daedric pets the main game is an invasion by the daedric prince who's the well known for necromancy, not to mention many necromancer cults taking the opportunity to attack others and summoning the anchors.

      @@dre5716Then what about Deadric summons? Shouldn’t they be a criminal act? Some demons from oblivion walking around in towns. Honestly, I think Deadric are far worse than corpses.
      PS: there are deadric cults that use illegal rituals. Remember when you first registered a new house and the house owner ask u about deadric worshippers?

    Yea venom skull still feels relatively similar to the once every 3 blastbones-kinda rotation from before. Addition of major defile 100% and the AOE hit is nice.
    Big thing for me personally that is still missing is more corpse generation and also, I feel like necros really should have permanent minions similar to sorc pets. Would add to the feel and class fantasy big time.

      If necro had permanent pets they wouldn’t die. That means no corpses. Guts a core mechanic of the class

    This simplifys my understanding of how it works.
    I still dont think i like it. When i first read that they changed it to enhance class abilities, not just gravelord, i was excited to use ruinous scythe as my spammable for hemorrhage. But i need corpses...so i feel like im being pigeon holed into using skulls. It seems like a very strange choice to change the skill to simplify rotation, but then do skulls the way they are as well. I dont wanna be negative but it feels like it was very rushed and not fully thought out before being implemented. Could be wrong. But it feels that way.

    When i heard/read the changes to blastbones i thought it was pretty brillant especially with the changes to disease. Its perfect for those that love to play that ARPG thornbuild setup IMO and im sure it can have many other possibilties depending on how you do your build. My first idea was to do a Zaans,Azureblight,DeadlyStrike setup as soon as possible. Like the changes for the Necro and the Sorc so far, very excited to try them out. Xynode Thank You so much for your indepth reviews and to not cast everything aside as a bad change as many do. Greatly Appreciate It and You.

    Yesterday i came back after 4 years. Never played that much of tje game, but then when i decided to go ham on it, and dust my old lvl 15 ne ro, just realized was something different with blast bones... Now i see this... I refuse to give up, will play stamcro until i enjoy it. Period. Games changin always, gotta deal with it

    Best way is to buff passives.
    Add the 1500 Pen when any summon is up. Tether, spirit etc.
    Add 5% bonus damage to enemies below 25% (along with the increased Crit chance).
    Add longer uptime on the Empower buff from grave grasp.
    If you double bar summons, they stay permanently.
    Add 5% to the Damage, healing, and damage reduction (unique, not minor berserk).

    Skeletal summon should be two archers. Make you feel more like you can summon multiples. And also the aoe ulti. Should summon a couple blastbones.. necris should have a summoned army...

    It's incredible how Zenimax did what no one asked for...since the first day of this class, the only thing we wanted were permanent skeletons...like a regular Necromancer...RIP Necromancer, again.

    Hey xynode ty for that easy sorc build it came in clutch 1st vateshran clear only 2 deaths 255k score so glad i can farm the arena thanks to your build just ran it a 2nd time I got no deaths under 45 minutes without sigils your build is amazing I got a 270k and my title (SPIRIT SLAYER)

    the devs sure are doing everything EXCEPT what ppl ask for. how does the necromancer have no permanent summons and basically only two timed ones, none of necros kit feekls fun to play nor is it good over anything else. imo theyre out of touch and lazy ah. just let us summon the dead ffs

      @@MeanAndPristine id like a skill or multiple like how the PVE necromancers have. Summon 3-5 lil skeletons that run and melee your enemies, or Summon 3 archers, spawn a flesh monster that walks around etc.

      @@nothanks3305halve the ult cost of Reanimate Blastbones. Create a bunch of corpses (using skulls and sacrifice), milk corpses for ult gain with Necrotic Potency, maintain extreme uptime on hordes of Blastbones in addition to AOEs from skulls.
      If that doesn’t satisfy, maybe change the ult to produce a different summon than Blastbones. Maybe it summons three Bone Flayers (melee skeletons) or three skeletal archers/mages who fire volleys of arrows/spells. Triple the ult’s uptime too, say, 15s same as DK’s Inferno skill.
      I think ZOS will address necro summons when the finally make sorc fun to play without pets. The reason why necro only dipped its toes in the water with summons is because sorc already fills the role of de facto pet class. If sorc and necro are too similar they start to compete, one ends up being used overwhelmingly over the other. Poor balancing. If sorc becomes less dependent on pets then necro can become more dependent on them without messing with the current ecosystem

      @@nothanks3305 Agreed, but it should take work to achieve. Each corpse in your horde should require a corpse present when you summon. Five summons requires five corpses. Make it so a solo necro can only produce four corpses at a time, but can achieve a larger horde the more necros that are present (piggybacking off each other’s corpses). This would encourage people to run more than just one necro with Elemental Catalyst in trial groups. The drawback to the horde being you can’t target them, the odds of like all five summons instakilling someone in pvp is low but possible

    It lacks a buff to necro healing abilities, so I'd move further and made sacrificial morph buff a flat weapon and spell damage addition to class abilities, ca. 450-600 units. It would make the class feel confident in any encounter. And add Major brutality/sorcery already in the class toolkit!!

      Maybe scythe could be the way to go. 20% more DMG hémorragie status effect and off balance. We could use the exploiter cp to buff again scythe DMG.

    I used blight blast bones on my necro healer so the defile debuff one would be my choice seeing the healers buff and debuff stuff

    That change looks great to me. The blastbones was powerful but both annoying & often only useful sparingly as mobs died before the skeleton reached them. & since it would just stand there unless there was another group close enough, it was oft wasted (at least for me). This change looks like I'd have more control over where my damage is going & I'd prefer that when playing as a ranged necro.

    Why can't we have the bone totem remade and instead summon skeletal warriors that stun (shield bash/dash)? This will add bodies to be used, and the class fantasy will be a little more tangible. The morphs can be two fragile skeletons or one stronger skeleton that lasts longer. The skill line of the bone tyrant is the only one that doesn't summon any minions, and the fact that the totem is extremely useless would give more variety to the class.

      I thought about that too. They could give one morph the spirit guardian’s taking damage for your ability on one of the morphs, and another that two summon weaker warriors.

    Hey, love the work you put out find your guides and videos very well thought out and detailed with enough to keep you engrossed enough that when I took a year break from the game I'd still find myself watching some of your videos :-) well back in the game again now and I used to run the Malcolm necro tank build absolutely loved going ham on people constantly due to the ultimate regen, I noticed the guide only says it's updated till quarter 1 2023 does it still work as it used to or has it fallen away now, thank you for getting me interested in the game again

      I ran with defiler and venomous on the Necro and always wanted to swap out Venomous for Scav, thought having the two spawn together would look dope. Always thought if defiler spawned first then it would give Scav time to hit the moving target. Assuming you using this in PVP> let me know

    Tbf, Boneyard should have been the skill that gives a corpse on demand. From that skill then they could have reworked the rest of the gravelord skills which are all very underwhelming. I would have liked to see BB summon two melee skeletons (with sword & board) that fight for you then recast the skill to make them charge at an enemy and explode. Gives you more control.

    I feel like the only things Necromancers wanted was for them to fix blastbones’ targeting, alternative play style to the blastbones play, do something with the summons, and make corpse play better for the necromancer.
    A few other things could be changed but this should’ve been the starting point for this patch.
    Blastbones should target whoever you target while casting and if that target is gone it goes for nearest enemy. Stalking Blastbones should become an execute ability called Tormenting Blastbones. (Do stamina necros need an execute when nearly every weapon they use has one, no? Okay).
    Make Flame Skull produce a corpse.
    Make the Skeletal summons last longer and make them slightly weaker but summon two instead of one.
    Give the Bone Tyrant a summon. A Skeletal Warrior Summon. Make it have a tanking morph and a damage morph. Probably replace it with Bone Totem and move the Totem to the Living Death line or something.
    Now people have the ability to produce more corpses, for their abilities.
    You could even create a mechanic where you can “cast” the summon ability of the necro to consume a near by corpse to increase the duration of the summon.

      I feel like I should explain the Skeletal Warrior summon.
      Basically you summon a warrior wielding a greataxe that attacks enemies dealing AOE swings.
      Its morphs are a support summon and another is a damage dealing option.
      Skeletal Guardian allows for 10% of the damage dealt to you to apply to the Skeleton and increases its health.
      Skeletal Berserker increases the damage dealt and it now applies minor fortitude to you for the duration.
      Bone Totem would replace the Expunge ability to an extent.
      It now grants Minor Protection & Vitality. Having it slotted decreases the cost of your abilities and it still fears enemies. Agony and Remote are unchanged only they keep the new Totem effect.
      With this Spirit Guardian would need a change.
      I think naming it Spirit Preserver and it granting you Minor Mending and making it where casting the Spirit Mender removes negative effects and summons the spirit would be a great change.
      One more thing.
      I like the Grave Lord’s Sacrifice ability I just don’t think it has a place where the Blastbone was.
      Instead let’s change the Shocking Siphon ability.
      Now it’s “Grave Lord’s Cloak”, the cloak creates a surge of necrotic energy around you dealing X damage around you and granting you Grave Lord’s sacrifice increasing your damage done with necromancer abilities and increases your damage over time effects by 20% for 20 seconds.
      While slotted your damage is increased by 3%.
      Consuming a corpse allows you to cast this ability for half the cost.
      Detonating Siphon becomes Reaper’s Cloak and works similar to the siphon morph.
      Mystic Siphon becomes Mystic Cloak and works the same way.

      One final thing.
      Avid Boneyard should become Freezing Bomeyard. It slows enemies and applies minor brittle.

      Nah, they should give necromancer a permanent summons like sorc. I feel like duration summons r useless and does not last long, even if they increase the duration.
      Some enemies take longer to beat, and it’ll be a pain and a waste to constantly resummon. Not only it’ll take some time to resummon, but also missing the opportunity to constantly dealing damage. You’ll leave a huge gap in between damage. That why sorc is the best class, bc of permanent summons and free damage. Sorc (and warden) waste no time, and necromancer do.

      @@umbrashadowmoon5685 … it’s like that because necromancers need corpses. Only solution to that I think is that anytime you consume a corpse it heals and replenishes the duration of the summon or you can activate the summon to allow it to consume a nearby corpse that heals and replenishes it.
      Gives the player more options.

      @@Chronic_Gainz oh, I like that idea, consume the corpses to activate ur summons abilities. Kinda like sorc summons abilities. Gotcha…but if you activate your summons abilities by consuming the corpses, will that include your resources (mag/stam)?
      Edit: kinda like Diablo 4 consumed corpses to heal minions or activate special abilities like; increasing attacks speed, or damage (crits)

    I've mentioned on another post about necro. What I'd like to see is blast bones and it's magic morph changed to function similar to the warden subterranean assault. Instead of summoning a skeleton you summon in an area a group of spirits doing damage to enemies.

      What would be nice is at start of combat, you can only summon 1 but the number increases up to 4 or something with more enemies killed. The archer and mage should be permanent summons tho

    when i first read about the change i was annoyed and tbh in hindsight i think i totally misread it, i thought they were trying to force magcro blastbones users into using a stam skill, later i saw the benefits of the new mag morph but im still a little 50/50 on it, id like the addition of a permapet ala sorc or warden but thats just me being greedy lol, will wait and see if this changes anything about my necro builds that use blastbones, cheers for the vid Xy appreciated as ever

      I'm disappointed that I may have to kill my current magcro blastbones build. I like the BB every third cast. I like that I don't have to use a spammable because between BB and refreshing my DOTs, I don't need a spammable. I'm trying to figure out if I can still use this build. I don't think I can sustain the stam cost now that the only BB is a stam skill.

      @@GeneChiuI use crunchy spider skewers and if you need to you could use weapon power/ tri pots depending on your set up, I’m not worried about sustaining the stam morph, just more so scared of the change because change is scary lol

    Speaking only for myself I feel the class skill line is too click heavy and for many players too easy to get out of sync and lose big chunks of dmg especially in moving fights. Others have made comments that I feel players would like to see more of is some type of pet or group of zombies that can be controlled and used either as shield or attack in some way. Compared to other classes the necro feels like it lacks burst attack that's truly useable. In the build up time of skills and for everything to actually kick in often the fight is already over or it's moved on and your DOTs are doing nothing as the mobs have left the area. Watching and playing with Sorc heavy light attacks standing and just blowing up rooms with 1 skill seems like the necro is just wasting time. I have a character I've played but too often I go back to what works and use other classes.

    Having to be in combat feels awful for the new morph sadly (tested on pts) :( I am also not a big fan of the animation. I am a magcro but it feels like I need to do the stam morph now. I just wish the stam morph had a better pve debuff.

    I have a magika necro and i used to like the blast bones skill very often....maybe i should try a stamina necro? :)
    But i do enjoy this news about the variant of blast bones that is a buff for you.

    They're making wrong updates on the class. I don't want to wait 2 or 3 years for the class to be playable. They should seriously increase durations of Armor buff, and the pets to 25secs. One of the Necro passives where it says an increase in critical chance when enemy is below 25% health, add 10% critical damage as well. And just add minor breach, minor berserk, and minor courage on their skills somehow. Boom!!!! Class fixed and playable.

      But then you wouldn't have as many corpses to use your other abilities with. The whole idea is to summon and then reuse their dead remains to augment your powers.

    It feels like a big nerf for pvp. It may be easier for pve content but i dont see how you would burst someone in pvp. Also the change from fire isnt as good as most pvp builds use vamp nowadays. Nearly nobody uses skulls and try to hit 3 Times a fleeing NB... it wont work.

    PVE improvements, but it doesn’t fix how they destroyed this class in pvp. What’s the point of buffing class and damage over time skills if you are changing the way blast bones work. This class doesn’t have a way to naturally give itself major/ brutally, its stuns are not useful in pvp as they are easily avoidable, what attack skills does the class have?

    Yep. Until the next update, when they nerf the necromancer yet again, that has been nerfed, nerfed, and nerfed again and again since it's inception into the game. On first release, the Necromancer was up there with the strongest classes in game, now the necromancer class playing solo, can just about handle a bunch of skeever's, It has gone from one of the most powerful classes in game, to one of the most useless for both PVE, and PVP. Again ZOS decide to F**K with Necromancer, and of all the class skills to F**K with, they choose stalking blastbones; that they know 100%, most necromancers rely on. Blastbones AOE, has already been nerfed, same as spirit mender, now they will do away with it altogether. Years ago, I created a character, an Necromancer, and have had years of fun with that character. The fun has gone, ZOS have killed it. RIP Necromancer.

    ZOS, say's that they are balancing stuff, etc.., but there is a majority of unused skills in the Necromancer skill line they can choose from, probably around 98% of them. Why pick 1 of the 2% of useful class skills , to F**k with?.

    Nothing of this fixes necro's real problems, those being bugginess and lack of basic buffs available to other classes to mention a few. Wow, a new morph gives 15% DoT damage... but necro has no native dots. Wow, skulls now deals more damage... but skulls is so slow that in PvP even a newbie will have eternity to block or roll-dodge it. Wow, you get both minor and major defile simultaneously on a target... that you won't kill anyway because you are stuck in an eternal loop of self-buffing not to die. And to sprinkle some love for the finishing tips - the necromancer doesn't feel anything like necromancers described in the lore: commanding hordes of undead and wielding the power of death itself. Instead we get a sorc from Wish that has to kit its both bars with guild/weapon skills just to stay alive even without a hope of being competitive. Necro is dead in PvP for a good reason and ZOS doesn't hear feedback at all because "look, shiny arcanist. Buy. Buy! BUY!1!" Kind of gave up on my maincro already and don't believe ZOS will fix it.

      Yes! I used to main cro but eso just killed it and I just got upset how they never changed or cared about the class especially after the nerf. Why play necro when you can green beam the fuck out of everyone as an Arcanist?! Way better

      Why would you have an army of undead, as a necromancer especially, if you don't use any lair of sorts. Necromancers by lore and general logic who would have army of undead, keep these armies of undead in their lairs. You also can't turn into lich and that is pretty much what peak Necromancer does.
      Necromancy was even thought at times in Mages Guilds. You don't see them with hordes of undead. Another book in TES described abandoned Mages Guild where Necromancers actually lived, they were just few people and had no corpse servants - they were just living by, studying their craft.
      Necromancers like Mannimarco or Magnifico Bahraha will more likely gather followers and corpses will just be tools to use. And you speak of ESO where people constantly are annoyed at Pet Sorcs for perma pets.

    "Buff and all necromancer abilities are stronger" This is a class with just TWO ranged class attacks for gods sake. One of them WAS Blastbones. You're down to just Skull now, and Skull STILL underperforms as any spammable.
    Or you just de-morph Blastbones and have ranged magic attack that class NEEDS. They need to scrap whole thing. That's all. Necro has already Spirit Mender and Arcanist/Archer. THEY should give this buff.
    If these people struggle then they have few other classes to play, also third cast .. you just have to count to three. Also I can't shake feeling that what you presented was just ... boring. It looked awfully boring. You just stand there and blast thing in front of you, it flies in contrast of being you know .. magicka user who blasts things from afar and tries to keep them afar ?
    While yeah I love close combat on my main, that is because he has variety of NON BLASTBONES to have on close range for him.
    So I literally have fun from scythe, you did not used scythe + totem of anguish here .. instead you wholly relied on clunky skull. Skull DOES feel clunky from get go.
    It's really sad what they are doing to my favourite class. Blastbones was freaking fun. I loved the animation, I loved the attack, I loved the playstyle it allowed me on my hybrid (an actual hybrid, not misguided ZOS idea of what that means). Now they try to ruin it because .. combat dev is pvp head maining Nightblade and got panties in twist over fact that Necromancer was better bomber build. That's all. I think this game needs new combat dev ... asap.
    He even neglects the fact that he has been ruining Nightblade's damage on pve side ..
    I think people who mained Necromancers, like myself, should just group up and start new campaign, namely make many posts on almost every popular forum titled "So what other MMO has Necromancer similar to ESO ? Looking for advise". ZOS only does revert awful changes when something drastic happens. Having chunk of playerbase just threat to leave game could work. That and if this awful thing does go live, then spam tickets for Feedback in live game and definately give piece of mind how awful they made playstyles.

    Because thse devs are just straight garbage i feel its getting easier to just let this game die...they atent gamers and they have no idea what they are doing. Most of their efforts go towards making the gsme into an interactive store.
