That machine is in great shape what year is it? I believe Deere made the 5.5HP 14SB from 1995-1997. Ive found one near where I live, one of the 4.5HP Models. It needs a decent amount of work. I use to have one just like it, but it was always a tricky one to start. My Grandfather has a 5.0HP model and its easy to start
I purchased it in June of 1995 and it's great machine. I just rebuilt the carburetor and replaced the fuel lines this year. The recoil on this Kawasaki is like butter and only takes a pull or 2 to get her going.
ClassicTVMan1981X Ah, OK. Thanks for clarifying. The 14SB (this model) has a recoil starter while the 14SE has an electric starter with a recoil backup.
bought one for 40 dollars , mulching plug and bag included, works fine
Bad ass machine!
that's why they say nothing runs like a deer I'm selling mine $250 it runs just perfect
Brian Cox this is one of the best 21” mowers ever built. They also hold their value quite well for their age.

There is a rewind back-up on this engine.
What is a "rewind back-up"? Perhaps you are referring to a recoil back-up?
Erik Asquith
Yes, that is exactly what I'm talking about.
