great video, and THANK YOU for recognizing his amazing ability ! my dad showed me little miss sunshine when i was a kid and i’ve loved him ever since. so many roles and scenes of his have stuck with me; dwayne’s breakdown, eli’s sermon, brian hallucinating in the studio, pretty much every scene of his in prisoners, and so many others. paul is a genius !!!!

Just my opinion, Love and Mercy is underrepresented in this video. I've seen about 20 of Paul's films now and Love and Mercy is his greatest performance, hands down. He changes the way he moves, his expressions, even his voice and his performance is so nuanced, more than any of his other roles. And I wish you'd included War and Peace rather than something like Gigantic (one of his weaker performances). He was phenomenal in that and I've heard british people say his accent was perfect despite it being his first ever british role. But glad to see For Ellen here - one of his most underrated films that easily makes his top 10.

No, I haven’t seen all of his movies but i’ve seen okja, little miss sunshine, the girl next door, there will be blood, the extra man, being flynn, swiss army man and the batman. I’m trying to find where to watch prisoners but with the movies i’ve seen, his acting is immaculate. like you said in the video, he has a wide variety of roles he’s played and can deliver such emotion with just expressions or body movement. also imo, he is vv attractive and his voice is so calming. he is my celeb crush :)

Honestly the questioning the character based on what we already know is so prevalent in prisoners, like they make the audience believe and give us facts that he is the creepy character who kidnapped the girls. The way he looks at hugh jackman and says they only cried when I left them, but in the interrogation scene with jake and later on in the film, he just seems so innocent and hurt that I felt bad for him and questioned whether he deserved what he got at times. Truly such a good actor when it comes to making the audience question how they should feel about a character. A lot of times in film it is made very obvious that this is the character you should hate, this is the one you should sympathize for, this is the one you laugh at.

war and peace is my absolute favourite. a book made into a series in 2015, and i absolutely loved it. paul’s character pierre is the most loveable man, and the story is sad, but a happy, heartwarming ending. i would definitely recommend to everyone! pierre is an absolute sweetheart! lily james, gillian anderson, tuppance middleton, and so many other famous british actors in it too

Thank you for making this video. I love him so immensely and so few people (that I’ve spoken to) understand the gravity of his amazing film presence. I’m glad he is picking up speed with the attention from his role as the riddler, but I wish he were recognized for his performances in smaller films. That’s the magic.

I agree with you 💯 👍 about Paul Dano. I fell in love with his acting after Little Miss Sunshine, so I started looking for him in other fil.s he did and I have to say without a doubt that he is the most beautiful actor ❤️ of his generation. He is so versatile in what characters he chooses to play, from Ruby Sparks, Prisoners, Love and Mercy, There Will be Blood. I loved him in Being Flynn with Robert Deniro, For Ellen, Youth Escape from Dannemora,,Okja and the Good Heart ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 💗. I loved him as The Riddler, my God can this guy act. I look forward to seeing what he has in store for us next. Even when he has small parts like in Looper or Cowboys and Aliens he stands out. I can't wait to see him this fall in the Steven Spielberg's biop wh where I believe he plays his father. I just love this actor and have turned my friends and family onto his amazing acting abilities. I mean Swiss Army Man with Daniel Radcliffe was such an amazing film, if you haven't seen it yet give it a shot 😉. Thanks for that tribute to one of the greatest actors of our time. Love you Paul 😍 💗 💓 💛 ♥️ 😘 😍 💗 💓 💛 ♥️ 😘 😍 💗 💓 💛 ♥️

This is a pheonomenal analysis of my favourite actor! Thank you for making this! Totally agree about the Top 5 performances but would have given an honourable mention to either his Riddler, or his Hank in Swiss Army Man, as those two performances are also just fantastic for very different reasons. Edited to add: at the time of you making this video I see that The Batman wasn't out yet so I understand why he couldn't possibly make your top performances since you wouldn't have been able to watch it!

Can I suggest Shia Lebouf? He got a bad rap because of transformers was poorly written, but when the script lets him he is a marvelous performer!
