Yeah that was a great movie. I'm an actor too and I thought he was awesome in "There will be blood" too. I mean dude went toe2toe with the GOAT Daniel Day-Lewis and his performance still stood out! Paul is Severely underrated. I'm looking forward to seeing "Swiss Army Man".
I'm 3 years late....but I was expecting that bit of "whine" in his voice his character in There Will Be Blood has.....goes to show you....he's good at what he does
+bunnyblurrz Paul strikes me as analytical, cerebral whereas Joe seems to thrive on his enthusiasm/motivation but in that different way they complement each other.
+Brendan Taylor I know! it's fascinating seeing them interact and complement each other. Even with the way they speak and understand things, totally different. :)
My two favourite actors! Joe the extrovert and Paul the introvert. Different personalities and they have different ways to approach in acting but they seem to get along and share some same values at the core. Love it
Paul Dano is super sweet, and his laugh/snort is the best. ha ha He is definitely different than some of the characters I've seen him play. lol Great actor. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is AWESOME. Freakin' love him. Great interview. I wish we got to hear a little more from them.
when i can't sleep, i tried a lot of things .... classical music, sounds of nature, chakra cleansing 🙃 blablabla ... but i'm so grateful to have found Paul. since then, i've just put in a long interview with him and i’m already asleep ... he has a sooo calm personality ❤
The first time I saw him was in “There Will Be Blood”, and I was mesmerized at his performance - which is really saying something, when you consider that Daniel Day Lewis was in the lead role. I remember thinking at the time that Dano was definitely going to be one of those actors who would be set apart from the “typical” crop of dramatic actors, one of those select few who don’t come along everyday... (I felt the same way about Phillip Seymour Hoffman, RIP). I liked the Love And Mercy movie “okay”... though I felt that the scenes where Dano portrayed the younger Brian were far better than the scenes set in later years with John Cusack portraying the older Brian. I think it would have been more interesting to use makeup effects to age Paul Dano, than to use a completely different actor to play the older Brian Wilson. IMHO.
Paul Dano is unforgettable. I can still remember the scene in Taking Lives, he was so innocent in the beginning and then boooom... I'm not going to tell what the scene is, if you havent seen it yet, go watch it.
Well, one of them is one of the best actors of his generation........ The other is a former child star from a 90s sitcom who is still desperately clinging on to any shred of relevance the industry might be willing to dangle in front of his eyes.
Paul Dano is a superb actor. He is amazing in Swiss army man and everything else I have seen him perform in. One of the best young guys in the business hands down.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of those celebrities who are down to earth and don't go off making unnecessary scandals like Brad Pitt, Justin Bieber, Eminem and Miley Cyrus
I love that despite Paul being far more reserved than Joseph, when he gets to talking about something he is passionate about, he just goes on and on, and you don’t want him to stop. His voice is so soothing.
These guys could be long lost brothers. They are different, but similar, and there is some sort of deep connection they hit here. Pretty rare I would say.
Two of the smartest and most creative young artists out there right now. I can see how people mistake them as pretentious, as both of them are really enthusiastic and interested in the art they are doing. But I think that is probably part of what makes them great actors.
So many similarities 1. Both were in Looper. 2. Both were in Batman movies. 3. Both have the best acting performances in indie films. 4. Both had their first child at 34.
joseph.. mysterious skin ... incredible actor. you tackle every roll you take on. they will never type cast such a brilliant performer. you are an old soul that breaths your previous lives into every character if there was only one word to describe you it would be authentic.
both are underrated in my opinion... they are both fascinating to watch and i enjoy their work. paul is so intense that he could easily hold his own with the legends of hollywood ... as for joseph he does a good mix of comedy and drama. i also enjoyed this tv work both as a kid and in recent years
Them talking about Gotham city little did they know Paul would be playing riddler in the Batman movie! He’s incredible hope he gets an Oscar one day totally deserved it
that bit about transcendence really interested me. lots of artists describe similar experiences when they produce their best work. The art comes from a place deep and far away.
It’s crazy how JGL thinks so highly of his own perspective that he constantly interrupts a far superior actor while he’s answering a question already asked.
All you gotta say is Sir Paul Dano is an extremely intense 'n' greaaaat Actor, he's not a Star nor just an actor... He's a perfect Artist!!! If anybody didn't watch 'Prisoners' I especially recommend please it's a must watch!!
Great pairing in my opinion. The characters they tend to portray both usually embody this really meticulous balance of naivety and ambition. You can't help but cheer them on while noting they may be biting off more than they can chew. Love it love it love it
Just realized Paul Dano and Zoe Kazan look so much alike! I mean i knew they kind of looked like siblings but i wasn't expecting to see so much similarity! #soulmates
They were in Looper together, Dano sadly didn't have the biggest part I would love to see them in a movie where both of them have main roles I think they would do great together
This was really interesting- it went to a different level than the usual stuff - I'm glad that they spoke about the the balance between the generic public buisness and how they feel about what they do ,it made them far more relateable as people.

Yeah that was a great movie. I'm an actor too and I thought he was awesome in "There will be blood" too. I mean dude went toe2toe with the GOAT Daniel Day-Lewis and his performance still stood out!

bunnyblurrz Watching the Jason Segel, Bryan Cranston one now which is very good. Cool series and format that Variety is doing here.
i didn’t know what paul dano actually sounded like until now; i had only ever heard him scream and get punched lol
LMAO
Joseph Gordon-Levitt should have a talk show.Works when he is the one asking the questions.

Aaron Tonks he has a show Hit Record on Netflix

I watched Love & Mercy. Paul Dano was absolutely amazing. I cried when he was singing God Only Knows, while playing it on the piano.
