    Can't wrap my head around why you don't have the amount of subscribers you really deserve. REALLY solid breakdowns and explanation. Straight to the point, not missing anything whilst giving/explaining the reasons what/why you are doing. One channel I found, I commented on their video for help; guy goes "if this video can't help you then I can't".

    I just followed along and created this template. I have a couple thoughts. What is your approach to this template when recording 2 to 3 vocalists on one track who sound different? Just tweak as needed? How about chorus? Do you not use different fx for widening the chorus, etc? Also, if you add autotune, where do you place it? A separate bus or on each track?

    • @YTRS808
      @YTRS808  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      So this is really just a starting point . For multiple vocalist you would just duplicate tracks you need than if they have a whole different tone add a EQ to the actual track and either add or subtract the frequencies desired. Also auto tune would go on the actual tracks as you may have one of the artist that needs a lil more or less than the other so no don’t bus auto tune . For wider chorus I would just put the desired effects on the actual track . Trick for that chorus tho it’s just have them double the chorus and then mix it in so it has a lil wider sound .

      Also, I plugged in some vocals I’ve been working on, and it cut out every time I used a “p” sound. Is there a way to adjust the gate or compressor so it takes away the pop sounds but still let’s it pronounce the “p” words? Or is this an issue with the actual recording?

    so i used your template and first off the difference in my mix is incredible however, now my vocals sound like its right behind the neat. how would i bring it out a little more? is it an eq issue that i have to play with or is it something else?

      Well if it sounds like it’s just a little too quite than yes you can turn up the vocals or turn down the beat , if it it sounds like the vocals are too thin or bass no matter how you turn it up then it’s EQ

    I’m all for creating templates as I use them in other DAWs so thanks for showing how to create them and save them in Studio One (I’m moving over to this DAW) but why on earth would you set EQ levels before hearing the vocal tracks? Each vocal is different so I think it’s pointless to tweak the knobs beforehand.

    • @YTRS808
      @YTRS808  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s just a starting point where bass In the vocals are always going to sit and where we know annoying frequencies bands sit . There’s no such thing as a template you don’t have to tweak around your setup . Even myself, when I take my vocal template to other studios there’s always a little adjusting I have to have to do as well ,nothing major though .

      He just giving a starting point. Of course there’s adjustments to be made when recording anything

    • @pHrenetikMUSIC
      @pHrenetikMUSIC 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@donruga627 I think Rob's point was that most pro's don't use inserts for comp/eq/gate on vocals, they place those on the monitoring channel but record the vocals raw. This method allows you to hear the preferred chain (EQ'd, compressed, and gated, and any other efx you like) while recording takes, without committing to those tweaks, so if you later find you needed a syllable that the noise gate cut out, or the mix requires less compression on the vocals, you aren't screwed by decisions you burnt into the track on the initial recording.

    • @YTRS808

  • @OfficialDeejai

    • @YTRS808
      @YTRS808  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Because a lot of my artist like to hear the effects live ,gives them an idea of how it’s going to sound instead of just recording it dry, and then they have to hear it afterwards with effects . Just saves time and makes work flow faster .

    There is no industry standard vocal template. Every singer and rapper is gonna be different. People record in different rooms with different mics and preamps.
    The way they process vocals maybe different than the way someone else process vocals.
    One template doesn’t fit everything.

    • @YTRS808
      @YTRS808  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Your absolutely correct on that as a template will never be that magic piece that everyone’s missing, but what a template does is it gives us a starting point because no matter the vocals there’s certain standard levels of plugins chains such as compression ratios and EQ levels such as scooping bass and adding a little boost in the mids to help punch the vocals through that we all do pretty standard , you should always tweak the template as needed whether it be subtracting or adding frequencies in the EQ or dialing in the threshold on the compressor or turning down or up reverb and delay . I have over 50 clients and I use the same vocal template but by the time I’m done tweaking the template around the artists voice you can never tell and every song still comes out different and unique .
