Your videos on japan are consistently some of the best! You're honest about your fears and struggles which is resonates so much and yet I also feel like it's a real day I'm watching not the edited perfect version of a day that you want us to see. And then your voice overs are always personal and insightful, like I'm reading a journal. I love them and I'm happy you're growing and getting the subscribers you deserve

I don't comment much on TH-cam period but I wanted to say thank you for your videos ... they help me grow and I have enjoyed watching you grow. I have watched you since this channel was strawberry mochi. I drive a semi for a living in the US alone so I am on a very different adventure every day and learning about Japan and other Asian things is what I like when I'm not working. Positivity goes a long way and the negative helps us learn where to go in life to stay away from it. Will continue to watch ... love your videos

Thank you for this video. I spent my childhood moving around with my family so it was no surprise that I spent my 20's traveling and teaching and finishing up school. Channels like yours and others have helped me on those days when I wonder if I did it wrong...especially when well meaning people ask me questions like, "When are you going to settle down?" But now in my 30's, I tell people, "This is the life I settled into." So thank you. Videos like this give me a little more confidence to keep going and be okay with myself and keep exploring what I love.

I am 27 and I experience the same feeling you did when you were my age. Also I feel lost and like I don't belong in my country.
I visited Japan and although I know it was just a trip and I haven't tried living there, for the first time I felt like my mentality belonged somewhere.
I wish to go back and live there, but I haven't even found my passion in life, I don't have a degree in anything, and therefore can't find a job there even as an English teacher.
I'm in the process of discovering myself and realizing what I want to do, I just wish I could've done that while living in Japan :(

Hey Kelly, you are so sweet and like you I am 29. I was in Japan for a year right after college and then went back to the US. The transition back was so hard. I still think about my days in Tokyo but I am proud of my current state.
I like your honesty on these videos, I might not always agree with everything you say lol but I think that's why I like your channel. It makes me see things from different perspective. I look forward to seeing your journey in the coming years! 😘

Looking too far into the future causes me to worry and become anxious. It's great advice to focus only on the here and now; focus on what you can do now and cease to worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow can worry about itself! It's good to have a "plan" but always remember that even our plans can change very easily 😉 I know mine have but for the better!! Take care❤️

Hey Thank you so much for this video! I was nearly crying at some of the idea and topics you talked about as I feel they relate so well to me right now. In about 2 weeks time I will arrive in Tokyo for a year of teaching. I feel like I am similar to you in the vein that I am a creative and want to do creative things such as illustration, design work and photography, I took the opportunity to teach in Japan as it was somewhere that has always fascinated me. I have also felt like I've not achieved anything really as a 24 year old so I am hoping this year in Japan will be the first step in doing something way out of my comfort zone and the first step to planning what i really want to do and putting that in place. I've lived at home with the parents until now as we have a really close relationship and I've never been abroad on holiday on my own before so this is massive. I hope to carry on with my illustration work during the time I teach in Japan for the year and plan to hopefully be sufficient enough that I can become full time freelance after the year is done thus giving me the option to hopefully live where I want hopefully in Japan if I end up liking it and if Japan will welcome me. Thank you so much for the video, it means so much to hear someone else in the same stage mentally as me. :)

I think it's awesome that you want to start a consulting/content generation business, especially if it can get you out of English teaching! Nothing wrong with it, but it's really meant to be a starter job and not a career unless you plan on teaching at the university level. If you need any help with making content whether it's editing or shooting or whatever, lemme know! I wanna give back to someone who's already given us so much!
It's taken me over 4 years, but I'm finally gonna be moving back to Tokyo at the end of this year to study abroad! I can't wait to be back and making the content that I've been dreaming about ever since I came back to America in 2015 after getting out of the Navy!

    Hello Lyz
First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you so much for producing this video 📼
In fact, I would to share for the first time here online and you are so special that I feel I can be comfortable to say that I am the same age as yours, I also grew in the west, but do to my family background who wanted just to be back to their comfort zone. I also struggled when I was young from being bullied badly, domestic abuse and toxic colleagues who are throwing advice giving that did not achieve anything. When I was 18 I moved to Australia for 5 years. I had a great time there but also there is society is perfect because how exotic I was to be an only student from my country to study there in university and later found out that what was the purpose of doing that. I moved back home started working office job, obtained great position in the government supreme council. I had a life living in the lap of luxury. Then I decided to go Bahrain to study aviation and started flying as a steward. I went back to my parents hometown in Kuwait and experienced a big culture shock and for 5 years I was confused and I dazzled trying her and there to figure out. Something came up to me which stopped me from flying. I saw a big drastic change amongst people around acting differently when I had had a prestigious job and then have done career change. I eventually went back to the uk where I was born and stayed there for a while doing extra advance English to become a teacher and go to the east to teach. We all have something we wanna do and it isn't a waste of time to do that. I didn't listen to anyone even my closest family and so called real friends because they don't know what I really want in life and what to pursue. I don't regret it and now I am spending my life every day learning to read books, enjoy the moment and connect myself to the right people because there are medicine of life. We need to know deeply inside ourselves first and second what is our dream and passion. I never thought once I would be in love with a job of cabin crew and be addicted to it. I am still working hard to grow myself in a world class airline and happy to discover the world and help taking care of customers. I finally found my calling yet some people and my family are disappointed yet hey I am happy and I love what I am doing and it doesn't hurt anyone and when people come to me and say thank you for the flight I feel satisfied. I have learned a big lesson here. Someone’s opinion does not really represents my reality. It is true. Bless you and enjoy your life and sending you my regard to you and your handsome husband. Kawio

I got to study abroad in Japan for 2 months in Nagoya and I found your video's when I was looking for things to do there and now I just like watching them to remind me of Japan and how much I loved it there. I want to eventually end up living in Japan but I don't know how difficult it is to live there working as a teacher. Is it possible for that to be your lifetime career or does it get harder to get a job once you are older. I am currently 30 and hope to be living in Japan in the next 5 years. Thank you and keep up your amazing videos.

I love your spirit and put you put a smile on my face every time I see your videos. I hope you keep doing what you're doing because your an inspiration to so many and have helped me in ways you don't even know how much. I want to go back to Japan but I also need to get a masters and I really don't know if I can still go to Japan after that. I would be 26 by then and I'm guessing I'd only be able to teach. I'm so lost :(

That business idea would be fantastic for you to pursue i love your content, my husband and i have a mutual love for Japan and i live vicariously through others who live there such as yourself 😂 we have 2 kids and live in Australia
But i always dreamt of living in Japan after visiting in 2013
Also talking about creating content is another great idea for a consulting business keep up the great work 💙

    Kelly, I’ve been watching since Victor introduced you on his channel xD I loved your mazesoba ramen video and been wanting to try that for so long lol (but it’s in Nagoya XD far from Tokyo or Osaka/Kyoto). I miss that whole crowd with Piggles and Shane and Regan and Kaz XD;;;

No I did not mention Tokyo Creative haha. And I don’t work exclusively with them. I like being independent doing work for other companies (including TC) and brands by myself!

Hey Kelly, you should try your best switching over to all natural chemical free products. It will help you out abunch on your health journey :) Also a fun time to try out DIY recipes for shampoo, deodorant, household cleaners, etc. Much cheaper in the long run!
