As someone who has been on 7, and 8 occasionally, it's safe to say that these operating systems are quick, stable, and the perfect choice for lower hardware requirements. 7 is great for the traditional desktop, while 8 would benefit greatly with a device with touch compatibility.

8.1 was (and still is) an amazing OS, so simple and straight to the point, no BS like w11 cluttered with all kinds of useless crap and widgets no one wants and uses and besides, the OS performance while scrolling around, right clicking, opening folders and stuff is atrocious compared to 8.1 or 10, disgusting...

it depend of the computer sure for old computers running with 4gb ram and a hard drive windows 8 will run better, but any recent computer with ssd and 8gb ram will run windows 10 easily and smoothtly. I reinstalled Windows 8.1 on my 2014 laptops because it had trouble resume from sleep mode in windows 10 other than that windows 10 was alright and so is windows 11 on my desktop it's fast and smooth if you have a good pc

I still use Windows 8 today. There is absolutely no issues with the operating system on my side and my boot up time to user login is just a little under 4 seconds ! Come to think of it... I never had issues with any Windows operating system. I reckon that user input plays an important role in the behaviour of any operating system.

Windows 8.1 have good start up screen plus brings a good performance to older pc. Windows 10 was a worse Windows that fix 100 bugs back in time. Windows 11 was no good because start screen is the worse plus it just a basic build like changing how they looked and earn money. IN Terms of SPEED WIN 8.1 64 BIT is the Fastest EVER win 10 and 11 Sucks with over 150 Tasks on Stock and full of telemetry Spy - Win 8.1 has just 46 Task compared to 10 and 11 and wit an SSD WIN 8.1 Flys 😆

true, my PC with Windows 8 Pro 64 bit only has 44 active processes! I've never had to format it since 2015! It always ran stable and fast, never a problem! With windows 10 I have to format once every 2 months! obviously everyone will tell you that 10 & 11 are a thousand times better, the reality is that these PC people understand almost nothing about it and they certainly only used windows 8 for a few days or weeks before going back to 7 (which is still a good SO). Then they went straight to 10 and now all they do is shovel mud on 8, telling the lie that they used it and didn't understand anything about it. If they had really used it they would have seen its speed, its stability but above all they would have seen that ultimately it is the same as Windows 7, only faster.

when you are using Windows 10 or 11 it means your pc runs 70% for microsoft and 30% for you.
And when using Windows 8.1 it runs 100% for you.
. windows 10 consume 3 gb ram and high data ane high background processing. whereas windows 8.1 consume only 1gb and less background. so it run more faster than 10 and 11.

Win 8.1 can lower usage of ram to 500 MB win 11 and 10 can be around 1GB. You can check with wise memory optimizer. Its shows how much ram system really needs.

The windows 8.1 is the best and lighter.
The windows 11 is beauty but very very slow (first of all boot up) also it is very fascistic (with the windows updates etc)and very spy.
    Stay away from me.

They are just older dude. Windows 11 is only 7 months old. While most of the older OS’es are more than 7 years old which still gets updates

Windows 11 is a bloated pig. Win 10 used to be much faster 8.1. It was a great OS in its first few years. The problem is Microsoft is bloating 10 and 11 with spyware , junkware and other bs so much that they littery take a big spoon out of your resources to use them.
My corporate laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad A485 custom with more ram and storage) runs win 10 and its the first computer I have ever seen to lagg behind typing. I'm not jokeing. I'm typing and the letters show 5-6 sec later. If you check resourse , the CPU is almost all the time at 100. What takes so much? Windows defender, windows anti-malware and windows approved databse (the telemetry) , they combine take 40% CPU non stop. I cant desable them, because is company regulated (I'm software blocked).
I had a simular problem on my home deckstop. Chrome took 1 min to load and file explorar 20 sec (on i7 8700k and 32gb ram and pretty much no usage). It was some update that caused it ,but could not revert , had to install new OS.
Pretty much currently Wind 10 and 11 are horrable because of Microsoft desigions that are holding them back.

There is no way this is a real test. Windows 8.1 won all tests and Windows 11 and 10 was the worst of the bunch.

bc win 10 and 11 needs a lot of ram and SSD. Actually win 8.1 need 500 MB ram to work correctly, win 10 and 11 needs 1 GB it's a big difference on laptop with 4 GB ram.

@youtuberesearch I use Windows 7 on the MacBook that years ago school gave to me using Bootcamp. I use Windows 8.1 in a virtual machine on VMware, I use Windows XP (which is extremely fast) on a VM on VirtualBox. I used Windows 10 one time, but then I upgraded, then I downgraded because of a CPU problem, and then I upgraded again. Windows 11 works fine on my computer. Here are the specs of mine:
      Dell Inspiron N5050
About 128 GB Solid State Drive
      8 GB Random Access Memory
Windows 10 worked really weak on my computer when I first bought my new computer in 2020. I actually had an older computer, but it didn't meet the system requirements of Windows 10 so I kept running it as Windows 7. This test is unfair.
