Every norwegian artist is honored by given the opportunity to be backed by KORK, the Norwegian Broadcastings Orchestra, they are soooo impressive. Have seen even seasoned musicians being starstruck when they enter the stage and KORK sits behind them.

Usually doing it in only one or two takes. Her current producer is on record with stating singers who can sing a song straight through are very rare. When Angelina would sing covers of all time great jazz singers of yesteryear, she stays pretty much on script. However, Amy Winehouse is a totally different kind of jazz singer, for she brought inflections that included unique breathy air, acrobatic type riffs and runs, and a host of other nuance. Angelina has adopted a lot of Amy's style, tweaking the songs in her own special way, but it is clear that Angelina has a lot to thank Amy for. No one else does Amy because they don't have the special jazz like roots Amy has, but Angelina's roots are also cemented in jazz, which when coordinated with her unlimited vocal abilities, produces her unique delivery of many songs.
This was the 2nd take, because when they finished the 1st take they asked her what she thought of it & her answer was "yuck!" She liked this one better. BTW, she's 10 here, singing the "new" lyrics for only the 2nd time!

The Fan Club said they will post a video of the performance soon.
You'll be hearing this a lot in the comments...her mother insisted that she rewrite some of the lyrics because the original lyrics were not appropriate for the young person of her age. There's a video out there where you see her in the car on the way to the studio still rewriting. Those handwritten notes are what you see her using. That was not the soundman, but one of the men of the succesful songwriting and record producing team Stargate. They have produced and cowritten songs for Beyonce, Rihanna and several others of the worlds top artists and have topped the Billboard list several times. I'm always a little perplexed when people comment about Angelina Jordan reading the lyrics while singing. Since when do you need to have a song fully memorized to sing it? All of the singers from big international choirs to junior high choruses hold the sheet music in front of them. When you had singing in grade school, didn't you have a songbook so you could glance at the lyrics in case you forgot? She isn't singing these songs completely cold, without having ever heard them before, and we have no idea how many times she had practiced a song before the actual performance we are watching. She has signed with Republic Records as a top priority artist. The soundman in the studio said that there are only Three people that can do songs in one take..that would be Beyonce, Sam Smith and Angelina Jordan..
That was not the soundman, but one of the men of the succesful songwriting and record producing team Stargate. They have produced and cowritten songs for Beyonce, Rihanna and several others of the worlds top artists and have topped the Billboard list several times. So they really know when they see a legend in the making....

AJ is reading the words here because she has just rewritten the lyric to be more age appropriate at her mother's insistence. Winehouse' lyrics are just too dark. But her delivery is so melancholy that you barely notice the radically altered lyrics.

If you Google the lyrics, you'll see that there are some pretty explicit sexual references along with allusions to drug use in the original lyrics. She rewrote the lyrics and, from what I heard, was still editing them in the car on the way to record it. I think I'll forgive her reading the lyrics while singing it. 😁

I'm always a little perplexed when people comment about Angelina Jordan reading the lyrics while singing. Since when do you need to have a song fully memorized to sing it? All of the singers from big international choirs to junior high choruses hold the sheet music in front of them. When you had singing in grade school, didn't you have a songbook so you could glance at the lyrics in case you forgot? She isn't singing these songs completely cold, without having ever heard them before, and we have no idea how many times she had practiced a song before the actual performance we are watching.

It’s funny that you would think that she didn’t know the words, but I’m sure by now you understand that not only did she know the words, she wrote the words just before she performed this song. There is a longer version of this session where she is in the control room directing and reviewing everything. It still blows my mind that a person of this age can have this level of artistry.
