- SEE PART 3 FOR CORRECTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Walthers Oil Loading platforms and how to build multiple ones and connect them the easiest way. This is a detailed tutorial on how to assemble multiple kits.
These platforms will be a loose representation of the Calumet Refinery at Princeton, LA.
These are the steps if you are building multiple platforms that will be joined together. (cont. from th-cam.com/users/li...)
Step 5 - Thread the top run of pipes (parts 13) through the support frames and glue them to the support frames (parts 2) ensuring the flush side of the pipe supports (the channels molded onto the pipes) are up against the vertical edge of the support frame (part 2) the opposite way of the bottom row of pipes.
Step 6 - Glue the distribution pipes (parts 16, 17, and 18) to the top row of pipes (part 14). Ensure these are glued on in the correct order and correct orientation. When finished, the ends of the distribution pipes should be even on both sides and the ends even with the distribution pipes on the bottom row.
Step 7 - Glue the hand rails (parts 4 and 5) to the platform, either allowing the gangway (part 24) to move freely or gluing it in the up position depending on your preference.
Step 8 - Once the handrails have dried, glue a pair of walkways together ensuring they are in the correct orientation and perfectly straight to each other. After the pair is dry, glue two pair together to make a run of four walkways, once again ensuring they are straight. The maximum to glue for one run should be five to allow for ease of handling.
STAY TUNED FOR PART 3!!!!

wow looks great thx for sharing.😊😊👍👍👍
I appreciate it.
Fun video, I enjoyed watching. Our cats would wreck havoc if they got near my layout. 👍🏻
Luckily, only one of them gets out to the train room. I still have to watch him though. I seem to find a lot of cars truned over.
Excellent video Robert. These kits are not easy to build. 👍👍👍
Typical walthers kits. Bad instructions, and parts that don't fit together exactly right. :)
Looking good and will add a lot of fun, Take care Kevin
Thanks Kevin. I appreciate you watching.
Very nice job, Robert. 👌🏽
I appreciate it Dru.
Thank you for this video. I will be modelling Frontier Refinery in El Dorado, KS. This was helpful.
You bet. I hope it turns out well.
Haha... That's what i call a , "pipe load " 😅 Lotta patience, my friend , but looks fantastic 👌 Darrell
Oh, you are too funny. Thanks Darrell!
Outstanding demo Robert. Damn I am glad you did not send them to me!!!!!!!
I still can if you want them. LOL
Great update and build Robert! (Dave).
Thanks dave. It is a challenge.
Your welcome and challenge is sometimes a good thing.@@FlyingCrow
I would have walked the gang plank a long time ago. I think people named Robert have more patience than the rest of us. You and Robert from csxmad take on these huge projects and don’t throw it across the room. You are doing a great job and it’s really coming out nice. I wish I had it but don’t want to build it, lol. Thanks Robert for showing how it should be done.
Believe me Derek, I have thrown stuff across the room. LOL
I for one will say the name Robert has nothing to do with it. I have NO patience.Maybe the middle name? Do try Charles 😄😄😄
LOL
@@FlyingCrow lol both
Thanks for this video. I didn't know this kit existed and am thinking about adding it to our plans. We don't need anywhere near as many as you used though. lol
LOL. I am a glutton for punishment. I think this puts me up on my quota of Walthers kits.
😮😮 wow that is a lot of building that but it's looking great
Thanks Dwight. It is a little long. LOL
Good to see the supervisor watching 😅
He made sure it was right.
OOOPS & Yikes….only Robert could do this 😊…awesome skills and project
Only Robert is a masochist. LOL
@@FlyingCrow 😂😂
Dang. I connected 3 of these kits together and I was not the biggest fan of doing that as it’s an odd kit to work with. All the more to you for the 20-30 you have there
They were a nightmare to connect. If the pipes connect, the platforms don't fit together.
What did you use for your "concrete" pad on which the loading platforms rest? It looks kinda like foamcore.
It is just 1/2" foam insulation. I knocked it down to about 3/8" with a rasp. You could use that or some cork roadbed.
@@FlyingCrow Ah...thanks.
Robert, how can you tell there going in on direction. I turned video back and looked again and can't see difference. Well, i do have a problem with right and left sometimes😂😂
I looked at the spacing between the opening where the gangways sit. They were clsoer together in the middle of the four than they were on the oustside pairs. It is kind of hard to tell when you look at them sometime.
@@FlyingCrow👍👍
how are those hous looking
Still need 400. I do appreiate your help.
@@FlyingCrow cool 👍🏻 it's going down 👇🏻
