Railfanning with Pappy and Wife - A Nice Mixed Freight
I was fortunate to have Pappy and his wife come down to Texas to visit me. A great day of looking at the layout and railfanning at the Amtrak station here in Longview.

The freight cars come with a coupler box that will not accommodate Kadee couplers so they must be cut off and new draft gear boxes mounted. #hoscale #kcs #modelrailroad #kansascitysouthern #modeltrains #LouisianaandArkansas #L&A

I had the privilege to tour George Washington's Mt. Vernon while on vacation. This video is a little rough. I did no editing on it. The shots inside the mansion are short because they don't want you recording inside although you can take photos. So if you see something you like, please be sure and pause the video.

Dang. I connected 3 of these kits together and I was not the biggest fan of doing that as it’s an odd kit to work with. All the more to you for the 20-30 you have there
They were a nightmare to connect. If the pipes connect, the platforms don't fit together.
Do you have a modelers email address?
flyingcrow@yahoo.com
This has got to be the best train video i have watched to date! Glory be to the I AM!
Amen, brother.
Louisiana state trooper keeping a watchful eye😮. And a good looking caboose it is😊
He might need to give the engineer a ticket for blocking the crossing. I have no idea where that caboose came from. 😁
Longview has a fence? Best time for trains is before and after Amtrak 😊
It's kind of silly since you can walk around it.
Congrats on 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ thats awesome Robert..
I finally made it. YAY!
@@FlyingCrow I knew you could do it.. awesome
Great entry for the challenge! I knew you had to have a lot of tank cars with that refinery. 😮 I just saw Pappy's tour video or your layout and was wondering what size your building is.
Thanks! The building is 14x34
Lotta train for a single diesel…Pappy doing a cross-country…
Pappy said the same thing. He is a travelin' man.
Good catch Robert. Very nice mixed freight
Thanks, Joe.
Hi Robert 👋 Pappy making the rounds and even some railfanning...nice 😁👍 DD

Thanks, Lee. We need to get you over here.
Great catch Robert! Always a Great time with Pappy and his wife, very cool! (Dave).

Nice run, challenge met!
I appreciate it.
Impressive collection of tank cars Robert.
Thanks, Hunter.
Big unit train Robert. I counted 41 to the Sunoco car where you paused it. Just how many was actually on it? OH!! Pays to read the title. 😵💫
LOL. Yes, there were about 75. I think the exact number was 78.
@@FlyingCrow Cool! That's a lot. A person might think that you have an Refinery on your layout!!! LOL!
i really thought you would have a tank train that just didn't end. lol I posted a rail fanning video with you in mind, we caught the grey ghost up here in Smith Falls
LOL. I will make sure I take a look at your video. I am so far behind on TH-cam right now.
Amazing lay out and train !!

Thank you, Joe!
That was real cool Robert, that refinery looks great! (Dave).

@@FlyingCrow you're welcome
@@FlyingCrow you're very welcome and always progress.
:30 Is that a 1976 Malibu Classic stationwagon on the other side of the crossing?
I think it is a 76 Buick station wagon. I need a Chevy wagon.
Damn!
You'll have room for that many when you get your shed. LOL
@@FlyingCrow can’t wait!
Wow I can't believe you have that many 👍🏻 nice run by 😉 hope your getting closer to your hours I hope I don't drive you nuts from asking you all the time 😮😊

Thank you Fred. So much to do. I don't know how you get things done so quickly and so well.
Thanks Robert but I wish I always did things ‘well’. Something 🤬 always happens to remind me I didn’t do well enough!
@@FredE528 Yes, I have the foghorn moments also. I just edit them out. LOL

I always liked the switchers. I remember seeing that in the hobby shop window. I think it was around $10. I'm trying to figure out how to put a decoder in it and I'll probably use it at my paper mill.
its about time your helping out keep playing it steve c
I have 75 feet of track and cork roadbed to paint before I lay it on the new layout. I'll be using my airbrush for these tasks. I have a quart can of grey primer I plan on shooting through the airbrush to paint the cork roadbed as it will be better painted grey to match the ballast I'm planning on using. I'll have to thin it with lacquer thinner 'cause it's a lacquer based primer. I'll use my other airbrush to paint the rails on the track with a nice rust colored acrylic paint. My rust color is called Coffee with Cream. Then I'll mask off the rails with a piece of cardboard and spray the ties a nice tie brown. I think you have more control with an airbrush than with a rattle can. On my old layout I painted each tie a different shade of brown and it took forever. Cheers from eastern TN
You definitely get more control with an airbrush. I do it this way because you can do a large section really quickly. I have done some sections where I painted individual ties. You can also do this method and paint a few ties darker or lighter. Thanks for watching!
How about evergreen plastic. ? Do they make pipes.
